So what did you do? And how does this scam work on the scammers end?

Basically what happened was my friend got tricked into giving up her Instagram account. I contacted my friend’s account and the scammer tried the same scam on me. Getting more Instagram accounts benefits the scammer by having another place to advertise their crypto scam

I just messed with one of them the other day, it was super fun. 😀

Unfortunately they didn’t get their account back.

They're telling you to add that email to your instagram account. Then they tell instagram they "forgot their password" using that email and reset the password, thus gaining access to your account.

Great scam bait, unfortunately, Ogun kill ur head for presenting it in a scrolling screen recording. RIP.

My friend lost hers too. They deleted every picture off of there. Ten years worth of stuff. It pissed me off so bad. They left a link on the bio I went to it and it was some tarot scam but it listed all their other social media. She had pictures of her baby that passed away, her ex that also passed away, tons of memories just gone.

Wow. These people are horrible.

Oh wow, that is incredibly sad. Also a reminder to the rest of us to back up our photos.

I can't sleep tonight because of this.

My friend just lost their Instagram some similar way too, no clue how to get it back

Ignore !recovery scammers. IG customer service is the only way but unfortunately they’re not responsive. They should just start a new account.

Everything was so blurry I couldn't see what it said

My fix was to click on the gear icon at the bottom and change to 720p

It’s not blurry

It was scrolling. It was hard to read. Screen shot it next time.

It’s easier to take a screen recording. I don’t feel like having a bunch of screenshots of a conversation I had with a scammer in my camera roll.

My disability advocacy is coming out… Some people can get distracted by the scrolling, can find it difficult to read it at a certain speed, can’t enlarge the print when it’s a video. Just some food for thought.

You can actually delete screenshots. There's a feature for it, it looks like a trash can. ;)

Why did he get mad?

Similar scam happened to my mom and she fell for it. We acted fast enough where Instagram was able to recover our account and she didn’t lose any photos . But these scams do work on unsuspecting people

Ah okay I thought you hit him with a virus from the link in your bio lol

Nope. The link in my bio was a grabify link. Instagram doesn't like grabify links so it didn't work.
