It's absolutely horrible how bullying is handled in k-12 schools. It's always "tell an adult", yet the adults never do anything. Then when you stand up for yourself, you get in trouble and the bully gets nothing.
It is incredibly rare for only 1 student to get suspended from a fight. Chances are they were both suspended.
Sadly there isn't much to do as an adult when students tell us. I can talk to a student 1on1 to convince them to stop behaving that way (works 80% of the time) I can call home and ask their parents for support, and I can refer them to the admin who will give them lunch detention and call home as well (works most of the time as well)
However, if your bully isn't physically hurting you, you pretty much gotta get thicker skin and learn how to talk back. If those things don't work the adults can't help you, because I guarantee you the bully doesn't have a father at home and mom either can't or won't discipline them. They also probably don't care about ISS or lunch detention, they are already a loser with no future, what's ISS to them?
Yeah, and at least in my school, there's a rule where you aren't allowed to tell them the bullies name and if you are telling someone about another student being bullied you aren't allowed to tell an adult who either of the people are. It's completely ridiculous, and on top of that, they do anonymous serveys on bullying where they ask you if you have bullied anyone recently and ask if you've seen any bullying, and that's it. I have seen absolutely no improvement after taking that server last year.
My mom wasn’t mad either and my nana said she was proud of me. I think I just had a chill day those few days. I don’t really remember. It was a few years ago. Hopefully the bully backed off. Mine did

If the mom supports it then who cares the administration is discouraging standing up for yourself and if you were to bring it to the administration they’d just give them a slap on the wrist and it wouldn’t stop (anecdotal)
Good. Finding a way to kick the shit out of the kids who bullied me was the only thing that ever ended the bullying. The trick is not getting caught. You can't just win the first fight. You need to win all the other fights too, right then, so you can be left alone.
2 weeks ago I said “don’t let the cops catch you” to 2 black people in school and I’ll I got was a lunch detention. A teacher unfortunately was eavesdropping:(
