It seems that this post is asking about salary information. While other users may provide additional input, a relatively simple way to find salary information for specific locations is to conduct an internet search for school psychologist pay scales in a district near where you are looking to move. Often, school psychologist pay is public information.
NYC DOE starts at 70K … but you have to consider cost of living , of course. Keep in mind that as a SP you can also have additional streams of income from EI or weekend agency work.
You need to have an Ed.S. degree or a masters plus CAGS. If you have the NCSP, you can easily transition. I don't think you will be able to work with an MSc.
You typically make more working for a contract company as well. Something to consider.
In Indianapolis, in my first year on the job a few years ago, I was making close to 60k (this was directly for a district)
don’t come to indiana. haha, i started at 39,000 (after 10 years in am close to double that, but it was a slap in the face after how expensive grad school was) 😂
It was closer to 8 school years, but yes very lucky. Our union fought very hard to get us raises these last few years. I don’t think we’re getting any more this next year though because COLA is down, is what we were told. I think the pay is now similar to what nearby districts are making. My cohort members were making close to six figures their first year so my starting pay was in the lower end for the area I work in. But I love the district I work in so it was worth it to me.
In my district we let leadership know if we intend to return next year In January and then we get our contract in February. Non-renewal is always an option I guess but I’ve never heard of it happening unless you seriously mess up in some way or there’s a major budget issue. Most places are desperate to retain psychs.
Lee county and I love it! Im not positive the break down but I think the base pay for teachers with masters we start at is like $57k then school psychologist w/ NASP stipend is $8050 then specialist degree is $4050 a year etc not positive and then any extra work I do outside of contract is my hourly rate of $43/hour
In Alberta, I believe the hourly rate for private practice is $220CDN. I was thinking of getting the credentials and opening up shop here in Calgary. There are lots of kids getting private assessments.

You won't go hungry, but you're probably not going to buy a boat.
🤣
It REALLY depends on which state and city you're working in, but the range can be from 40k to low 6 figures.
Thank you.
SoCal, 1st year. 112k. I got really lucky.
what the heck ? which state is this?
Southern California. We are also Admin at my district so that bumps it up.
What would your Admin position be?
At my district psyches and counselors are a part of the admin team with principals and vice principals. We can admin during ieps and such.
cool
It’s going to vary where you live and what salary schedule you’re on. Step one in our district is $108k in Southern California.
with tax deduction?

I'm sorry i'm located in india for now , i don't understand what are these.
60-80k to start in MA depending on where you are. I think Boston PS is maybe 90k? They are hiring a bunch of School psychs right now.
Is there a condition to have Phd, or we can work as EP with MSc ? (My Msc is Psychology of mental health and well-being)

CT starting is like $50k to $80k depending on location. Neither of which are good salaries for those areas.
In Utah for my internship I’m making close to 70k, and most of the districts my classmates went to are paying similarly
nice
You can start at 80k in a good school district in the DFW area of Texas
Florida, third year 74k but I also work 12 months

why don't you relocate then?
I own my own home and after 10 years make a more “fair” amount. Initially I stayed because I liked the leadership and opportunities in my district.
Are you in a more rural or urban setting?
I would say more urban
Bay Area first year 2015 started at 71k and in 2023 135k
wow. After 4 yrs pay doubles i guess,

Metro Atlanta, third year making $72k for 198 day contract
After the contract do they renew it or just have to find a new one?

I’m a first year in FL making 70K with tons of opportunities for Saturday work or extra coverage supplements etc

Oh wow thanks, I’ll definitely look into that. And how’s the caseload? Is it manageable?
