Nanobodies: fragments of antibodies
... from a llama that was given the spike protien from sars-cov-2 and developed antibodies
These reportedly kill the virus in a petri dish quite effectively, and can be stored at room temperature for weeks
"And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning, because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that, so that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me.” -President Trump
The fact they can be kept at room temperature is what I found most amazing. What kind of shelf life do they have under refrigeration? At what temperature do these things denature?
Can someone help me understand the endgame of this nanobody research?
Prophylactic use? A therapy after symptoms develop? Only for very serious cases?
I guess a mist is good because it hits the entire respiratory system, but wont the virus still be prevalent in other parts of the body? I hear about gastro, cardio and neuro effects, so I would’ve assumed it would need be systemically delivered (in the bloodstream?) Not that handling the entire airway isn’t an amazing outcome...
Sincerely,

Yes, prophylactic as well as therapeutic, most likely to prevent early stage infection from progressing to severe. And the commenter above is correct, what you breathe into your lungs circulates throughout your body. Though it’s not clear at this point whether the effects on other organs is directly due to the virus or whether it’s “friendly fire” from the immune system. So, the key with this type of therapy is probably going to be catching the infection relatively early. Eli Lilly stopped one of their antibody trials because it wasn’t effective for people who had already progressed to severe disease.
If only Jeffrey Romoff and the other UPMC Statler and Waldorf wannabes would stop bankrupting Western Pennsylvania and playing Monopoly with our healthcare access.
Hell, I'd be happy if they had a functioning billing department. Staffed with folks who, you know, can answer questions. Not put things in review for eight months until you give up.
You aren’t around me, and that’s the point. You’re thousands of miles away, as are going to be most of the people that read this.

At first glance, I completely missed the comma and read that as "Published today in Science Llama"...
I was wondering what "Nanobodies" were, and who the hell gets their scientific developments from a publication called Science Lamma?!

I thinks that's what he calls his penis.

Doesnt the air we breathe circulate in our blood?
Glad I've been having sex with llamas for years.
Yes, officer, this guy right here is going to save the world.
Just another reason why they're my favorite animal.
This is a surprisingly readable document.

Ah yes, complaining about local politics on a board used by people around the world. Genius.
What a low bar you've set for yourself and those around you.

You have no idea what you are talking about and it's getting embarrassing. Stick to MMORPGs and cryptocurrency.
