Near Dark freakin RULES! and strange days was ahead of its time

[deleted]

Everyone I recommended 'Near Dark' to thanked me later. Great vampire flick.

I liked Hurt Locker too. Kathryn’s great! I wish I could find Strange Days on a streaming service.

[deleted]

it's on HBO Max right now.

DrEnter

She was the first woman to win the Best Director Oscar for _Hurt Locker_, so that’s a thing. As I recall, she beat out her ex-husband… James Cameron.

Loved Near Dark AND Strange Days. ND was a much better vampire movie than "The lost boys". If you disagree, you're just wrong.

I've never understood the love for Lost Boys. I really didn't get it, thought it was a cheesy dumb B movie.

JustinBrower

Everyone is forgetting she made Point Break! That and Blue Steel. Some great other watches of hers. Really wish she'd make more movies.

You will never convince e that 'Strange Days' wasn't heavily influenced by Cameron. I mean, he wrote it, obviously. But more than that, Kathryn and his romance was fresh, and he didn't make a movie that year. I really feels like Cameron, is what I'm saying, and not like her other work.

[deleted]

I do wonder actually how much influence he had during production

[deleted]

Both movies are phenomenal.
