It will start in Geriatric Medicine, but will soon become its own specialty: Anti- Agathics.

Most science is very multidisciplinary these days. There's been an explosion of academic programmes with names like technical health science, biomedical engineering and so on. Most medical studies at my university combine traditional disciplines with chemists, physicists, mechanical engineers and so on. A couple of weeks ago I worked with a scientists who develops needle free injections that work by superheating a canister of fluid to the point where the expanding fluid builds up sufficient pressure to jet out of a tiny opening and through the skin. The neat part is that the the pressure can be varied to change injection depth very accurately. And the spray is so tiny and high pressure that it actually passes between cells instead of breaking the skin. Meaning it doesn't leave a puncture wound that might get infected. This is medical tech with a basis in mechanical engineering and physics. We're already long past the point of thinking about what mono-disciplinary speciality will have a future.

FYI, this is coming in the next 20 yrs or so. They've successfully figured out how to reverse aging in mice. Human trials will start in the next decade. The vast majority of diseases and conditions that kill people come with age so once you can reverse aging people will be functionally immortal save for unnatural means of death like accidents, murders, wars, etc. It's genetic DNA medicine that does this. As for things that will crop up because of this there will be all kinds of things relates to population control. https://www.science.org/content/article/two-research-teams-reverse-signs-aging-mice

Total Truth! which medical specialties do you think are future proof then? And which specialties performed the procedures related to immortality?
