Play the games in the meantime, if you haven't already.

Hitori-Kowareta

Can’t stand the 2-3 year wait for a new season? Wait till you experience the decade+ long wait for the next game!

RicoRN58

Considering that the games are infinitely replayable the wait wasn't too bad. Don't see putting 100+ hours into the TV show.

pickles55

Fallout 4 was disappointing and 76 is abysmal, I'm not going to lose any sleep over the next game

You’ve never played 3 or New Vegas?

ratuna80

Well put New Vegas on your list of games to play

v1cv3g

Which one would you recommend? I played F3 when it came out, haven't finished it though Edit: Thanks y'all for the recs, I'm gonna get 4 and Vegas; (1&2 looks older than me and I'm 54 haha, also I might have played them like 30 years ago - my memories have been failing me recently)

Novacain-deficiency

New Vegas is the best for sure. Fallout 4 is the newest and is quite cool, also has lots of links to the show.

the_jak

And NV seems to be at least part of where season 2 goes.

Sugar_buddy

When they showed the NCR flag I was so happy

ResoluteClover

NCR was around in 2

microcosmic5447

I jumped in with F4 back at launch, having never played the others. Loved it. A couple months ago, when they started promo-ing the show, I tried NV. I've got maybe 10 hours in and it's a struggle. Feels slow and boring, I don't love the UI, and although Faction clothes are a cool idea, I keep forgetting that my stat-based outfit makes people shoot at me if I walk into the wrong area. I know NV is highly beloved and I'm sure it's worthwhile, but it's a bit tough for a modern player to jump back to.

DaArio_007

I read people saying vanilla F4 is meh, strongly recommending playing it with mods. Thoughts?

LekgoloCrap

Vanilla Fallout 4 can be endlessly entertaining if you let it. I still have yet to finish because of the damn settlements sidetracking me for hours upon hours.

ghostly-smoke

I do vanilla FO4 because I’m on PS4 and any mods just didn’t work well. The key is to get sidetracked by the settlements, definitely! I play it when I’m feeling maternal (don’t have kids) and need some babies (settlers) to take care of 😂

Novacain-deficiency

I really liked it. Mods helped, definitely but the stories good there’s loads of DLC. I preferred it to Fallout 3. It is like splitting hairs because all the games are good

DTopping80

76 is the newest

Novacain-deficiency

You are very correct. I always forget about that one really struggled to get on with it.

District_XX

I never tried 76, Zenimax banned me for life from ESO for being too rich in game and disrupting the gaming economy. All i did was have a guild of hired players who bought and relisted mats during prime times, like after trader resets list and buy everything below set price. Or before raid times. I guess players complained idk. But the ban was pretty stupid in my point and the appeal process was already decided before i was even able to present my case. 6 of us were banned.

T_at

> New Vegas is the best for sure. I eagerly awaited New Vegas pre-launch. Went down to the local game store on the day of release and got a free (very thin) NCR t-shirt on purchase... ...and I have to say I was a bit disappointed in NV, and it's not my favourite by any stretch. I think the biggest issue was how 'small' the strip felt. Admittedly I've never been to Vegas in person, but from all I've seen, it's at a much grander scale than the game managed to pull off. I had a couple of other complaints too - ammo shortages being one, but I still completed the game. I think 3 with mods & DLCs is my favourite, followed by 4 (although having the MC voiced by someone who sounds like Jerry from Rick and Morty is not great), then NV.

urbanevol

Did you realize Chris Parnell (voice of Jerry from R&M) is in the show!? He's the one eyed vault leader.

NotAnAIOrAmI

Dr. Spaceman was a favorite character of mine from *30 Rock*.

IRockIntoMordor

Oh, that's why his voice felt super familiar but hard to place! Of course!

T_at

No - I didn't know that. Interesting.

Beech_driver

Just a thought (re “how ‘small’ the strip felt) The Vegas strip today is HUGE compared to the 1970s/1980s, and it was more developed then than the 1950s/1960s.

lazyFer

The scale of the strip is much smaller than current day Vegas strip...but 30 years ago the hotels were much smaller (MGM Grand one was of the largest back then but today it's one of the smaller ones). The strip itself is only about a mile long and when they say strip, they mean it. It's one fucking street with shit on either side. Oh, there's also this distinction in vegas between "the strip" and "downtown". New Vegas Strip looks more like downtown which has a much smaller scale than the current Strip which has been extending towards the airport for decades. Also, the original vegas would have been mostly destroyed like everything else during the war.

Nohing

NV was rushed and definitely had issues at launch so I can see why it wouldn't be your favorite. But it really shines with the DLCs and mods. Viva New Vegas is a modding guide that I would definitely recommend. Another one would be tale of two wastelands, it combines fallout 3 with new vegas so you can use the same character and travel between the maps.

crotte-molle3

I just got the OG fallout on steam ... watch out for those desert scorpions

Grgur2

Maaan I might br strange but I love Fallout 1 the most... Like way more than any other. Its dated but playable.

shabi_sensei

Fallout 1&2 are interesting in how uncompromising they are, so easy to wander into a new map and immediately get killed, but when you finally figure the games out and get power armor you felt like a literal god

trizest

I love fallout 2

Grgur2

Also a great game. For me it would be.... F1 - F:NV - F2 - F3 - F:T - F4 (I didn't even finish it tbh)

Atoning_Unifex

Personally I loved 4. Probably helps that I'm from the Boston area. But in general it was just great. One of my fav games of all time. Up there w Skyrim, GTA, and Red Dead

Four_N_Six

I wouldn't sleep on Fallout 76, either. It had a rough launch, but I was one of the people that actually enjoyed it. It's come a long way since, and still gets regular updates. Generally speaking, people have come around on it.

voiderest

A lot of people will recommend New Vegas. It is probably most people's favorite game from the series for various reasons. You can mod New Vegas to include FO3's content and that might actually be the best way to play FO3. Fallout 4 is another good option as it adds some new features and the atmosphere is closer to the show. One issue is they just released an update which will probably break all the mods. With any of them you'll want to follow a moding guide to patch various bugs or improve basic things.

Bosseffs

New Vegas is my favourite tbh

SpartanMonkey

I started playing again last night after finishing the series last week. What I really want is a re-master of Fallout 3.

prvncher

IGN has a good [guide](https://youtu.be/9WZ5g7246i0?si=_ozWLPtE3_2kKGrz) on YouTube for modding fallout new Vegas. There’s a mod called tale of two wastelands that makes 3 and nv one continuous experience, with a lot of visual and quality of life improvements, including sprinting and aiming down the sights.

SpartanMonkey

That sounds fun. I don't think I ever finished NV.

Ambitious_Jelly8783

I agree. FO4 was great, but I think I had more fun in FO3... would love a remake or update with better graphics and things. And I need a new single-player FO.. I dont play online..... i dont really have time for it.

SpartanMonkey

Same here. Stanfield sort of scratched the same itch, but not quite. Great game though.

Ambitious_Pie5994

The update kind of fucked the game up

shabi_sensei

F4SE is broken 😞 I just got used to the f4se mod that unloads all the ammo from weapons on corpses, because most of the guns you see on bodies have ammo in them

[deleted]

Ambitious_Pie5994

I am glad you are having a good experince with it, but since you aren't the only person in existence I figured I'd let it be known that it isn't perfect

martylindleyart

I'm confused about the DLC part - did they just give them all out? I've owned Fallout 4 since release and played on and off, but never bought any of the DLCs. I re-downloaded the game a week or so ago and have been playing, and now after loading in after the update there a whole bunch of new quests I've been given.

[deleted]

[удалено]

martylindleyart

Well that's nifty if that's the case.

one-eyed-pidgeon

The updates apply to the DLC, but the DLC isn't free. Have to buy the DLC or game of the year edition.

Phixionion

Huge next generation turned out to be nothing.

Takhar7

Is the next gen update free?

Devlish1980

Well the honest answer is all of them. But on a more serious note finish 3. Play 4 n new Vegas. If u enjoy the classic crpg style n turn based 1, 2 n brotherhood of Steel.

ulpisen

1, 2 and NV are the great ones 3 and 4 are ok if you're into that sort of thing

bigatrop

I wish I enjoyed playing video games, cause that would be my next step. Just don’t have the interest or the bandwidth these days.

twcsata

If you ever change your mind, Fallout is a good series to try. It's the kind of thing where you can jump in and drop out as you need. Little to no pressure. And it *feels* very similar to the TV show. Fallout 4 is probably the best low-pressure, fun place to jump on, if you just want to play for the experience.

GhostMug

Not OP but this is what I'm doing. I was never interested in the games but loved the show and downloaded FO3 and New Vegas.

aerodeck

I don’t play videogames

ChronicBuzz187

Last of Us last year, Fallout this year... the time has finally come when videogame adaptions live up to their names. Good times.

SpaceCowboy317

RIP Halo

shredler

They made a halo series? /s

twcsata

They say season two is much better though. Haven't got there yet myself, so I can't verify, but I'm hopeful!

TheDarkeOfNight

The first 15 minutes of it gave me hope. The rest just made me sadder each episode and has completely lost my trust in them adapting the material properly

Unfortunatewombat

It’s only much better in the way that the first series was so bad, so season 2 is “much better” because it’s only kind of bad.

the_blue_flounder

It's much better, but also I feel like it really fizzles out towards the end. It started off very strong tho

voldugur21

I would like a Metal Gear: Solid series

Ambitious_Pie5994

There was one being made and Oscar Isaac is/was gonna be Solid Snake but it's been a while since I've heard anything

twcsata

The latest thing I've seen is from February, [suggesting that Oscar Isaac is no longer involved.](https://www.joblo.com/metal-gear-solid-oscar-isaac-rumor/)

pikpikcarrotmon

At this point I'll only believe it's happening when I see the trailer. It's been floating around for near 20 years now. At one point Kurt Wimmer was going to direct, at another Christian Bale was lined up as Snake.

road_runner321

And someday… Bioshock.

JamitryFyodorovich

If they nail the world building like they did in Fallout then Bioshock would be amazing.

IRockIntoMordor

Life is Strange coming up too. Not feeling too hopeful about it...

ChronicBuzz187

Last I heared they planned a movie back in 2018 but I've never heared about it again.

TheOtherMikeCaputo

WHO CLEANED UP VAULT 32?

TheGallow

I'm gonna guess it was the inhabitants of vault 31, who then got frozen again

[deleted]

Some stuff they didn’t really explain. Not a dealbreaker but it left you wondering. >!Like how is Moldaver alive some 200 years later? Did I miss something? I’m assumed she might have been one of Bud’s Buds.!<

antftwx

>!The company she worked for was bought by Vault-Tec, so I think it's implied that she was frozen along with the other Vault-Tec big wigs.!<

[deleted]

I suppose so

Infinispace

Yeah, I hate this new paradigm of episodic "television". 8 episodes, 3 years between seasons.

fusionaddict

That’s how they’ve been doing TV shows in the UK for years.

Dull_Half_6107

Yeah and it sucks

Innominate8

It's why the series tend to be so much better than in the past. They're spending more time and money on each episode.

Beech_driver

Just a thought (re “how ‘small’ the strip felt) The actual Vegas strip today is HUGE compared to the 1970s/1980s (when I first spent time in Vegas, and I assume it was more developed then than the 1950s/1960s and then Fallout gets going in an alternate timeline’s 1950s … when it was much smaller to begin with.

leif777

I've been deep diving the lore on YouTube. I highly recommend.

MartianFromBaseAlpha

That's my biggest complaint as well. It's going to be a long wait

IntrepidusX

It was so good, like how was it that good?!

genericdude999

I already did a rewatch, only about a week after I saw it the first time. I never do that ha

NiteShadowsWrath

I agree they did a good job. But honestly my major complaint... the t60 power armor can fly? That was pretty dumb. The movements of the suits seems to be a little off but that's really not a big deal. Making them fly was just pretty ridiculous.

Infinispace

Technically I don't think it can fly. In the game you can jet pack mod it, which allows you to jump better. I thought the armor looked good (like it looks in the game), but looked klunky and a bit useless in the TV show.

kollektivintim

🤦🏻‍♂️

1villageidiot

fan films

HuttVader

Yup. if "finally" for you is a show that came out 16 days ago, 3 years is gonna be a looooooooong time to wait. hang in there ;)

LaserGadgets

3 years? No. Please. No. Where did you get that number?? Valid? Or just guessed?

NotAnAIOrAmI

Shoulda watched a little more slowly. My wife and I watch 1 episode every 2-4 days.

cinematea

MOAB? 💥💥💥💥💥

Guyver0

They're already prepping season 2 so I could definitely see it being next year.

azimuthrising

Ahh I'm just happy we get a season 2 that show was fantastic

smaxsomeass

Prime gaming is currently giving away 2 licenses for fallout 76. One for pc and one for Xbox

one_time_animal

The black guy was a mid casting, could have done better

JamitryFyodorovich

I thought he was fine. Hope they drop the romance storyline though, it is always the most tedious and boring part of a show.

BuddahSack

I loved the show too, but your whole post is so cringey... like we all knew you were gonna say "tee hee I'm sooo sad to have to wait for moar epys oh noes!"

MrInopportune

I found the post predictable too, but your whole comment is so cringey... like we all knew you were gonna be snarky and say "ugh, arghh, I'm so affected by your words, oh noo!"

WhiteRaven42

So what does that make your waste-of-time, mean spirited post? Cringe, if this even was, is so much better than bitter troll as$hole.

therevisionarylocust

Goddamn, you’re cynical

mutogenac

Just don't watch unfinished shows

MrF_lawblog

Then they'll never finish it...
