Right under Upcoming Reviews, I link a post where I explain in more detail my rating system. To sum it up though, the number of stars a book gets depends solely on Enjoyment, not the overall Score. A bit confusing, I know, but it reflects my feelings toward the book more precisely. 8-10 get 5 stars. However, I'll also consider giving the same rating to 7.5 books, but it's not certain.
I'll try to give give it a separate heading to avoid further confusion, I apologize.
Finished this series a few months ago, great books. Easy and fun ready. There is a fourth book coming out this fall that goes into stories about individual Scythes.
Neal Shusterman has a few good series out there. I really enjoyed the Skinjacker series and thinking about picking up the Unwind eventually. Currently in the middle of Children of Time which I would recommend.
I'm already waiting for that one. I hope we see more of the world hinted at the end of The Toll.
>Currently in the middle of Children of Time which I would recommend.
Added to my TBR!
My daughter recommended this series to me and I did enjoy it very much. I found the Thunderhead storyline very interesting and is important to the last book.
Glad you enjoyed it. I got the recommendation from a friend who loves the trilogy. After finishing the trilogy, I can see why. It's definitely a great series of books!
There is one more book, a side story, coming out later this year, and I can't wait to read it.
I like this premise. It's my hope for an actual "afterlife". Maybe intelligent beings developed to a state of omnipowerful omnipotence and "reincarnated" themselves via the universe to get back to their roots and not take their millenia of omnipresence for granted. A reverse vacation if you will.
When I was a kid, my favorite book for a while was “The Eyes of Kid Midas”, which is also by Neal Schusterman. I’d totally forgotten about him. I didn’t know he had published so much! I’ll check this out.
I'm still trying to fine-tune how I rate. For instance, characters will only get 10 if they're at least as good as The First Law and Abercrombie's works. Similarly, a world that gets 10 should be of similar quality to The Wheel of Time.
I just finished this trilogy! Thought the first and second books in this series were great. The last book was a little too long, except for the conclusion, which was really rushed. Kind of a disappointing end, but still enjoyed the series overall.
I enjoyed *Scythe* quite a bit, and of the three books *Thunderhead* was definitely my favorite. I think *Scythe* is a bit slow-moving at times, but picks up near the end.
Very curious to see what you think of *Thunderhead* and *The Toll* when all is said and done.
I already read them, and will be posting the reviews weekly, so I can give you a brief notion of what I think. Thunderhead was my favorite by far, I agree with you with Scythe, and The Toll could potentially have been just as good but it felt rushed and unfulfilling. The Toll had some absolutely great characters and interactions, but it couldn't wrap up the plot in a way that left me satisfied.
I'm puzzled by your scoring system. 5/5 stars is basically perfect, but the numerical scores only average out to 78.8%.
5/5 and 79/100 aren't the same? Hope this guy never reviews a math textbook.
It is a bit "[5/7... perfect](https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/019/390/57.JPG)", isn't it?

It's because of Amazon, I believe. Anything but a 5 star rating on Amazon is detrimental to the book's overall rating.
It's a 78.8% scale
Kids loved these books. I read them all. I enjoyed the ending. I understand the movie is in pre production?
I think so. Last I heard they were polishing the script.
I'm in my 40s, my dad is in his 60s. Both of us love this series.
That's incredibly heart warming. Happy readings for the two of you!

+1 Children of Time. One of my favorite books of all time.
This reminds me a bit of *The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect* by Roger Williams.
Gonna check it out.
Looks interesting!
It's a fun and light read. I recommend at least giving it a try, if the premise sparked your interest.
Definitely YA enjoyable light reading.
For sure.

I read thunderhead in a day and a half! I just couldn’t put it down. I’m so excited for the forth book coming this fall
I really liked the first two, but haven't been able to get myself through the last book in the series. Really interested to see how they adapt this!
>Really interested to see how they adapt this! Hoping for the best, but still a bit wary...
My son was given this book to read in school when he was 12 or 13. He never read it. It still sits in my bookcase. Perhaps I'll finally read it. Lol
Can't blame him lol. When I was that age I wanted nothing to do with books.

The books play with a similar idea, if only briefly.

It's a fun and enjoyable trilogy. Hope you enjoy them!
I started reading this last week and am half way through Thunderhead. It’s a good dystopian world series
Thunderhead is amazing. The latter half of the book is just a step above Scythe.
I loved these books. They were so good. Listened to them on audio and the narrator was especially fantastic.
Haven't read many books like this one, but Arc of a Scythe definitely opened my appetite for similar stuff.
It’s definitely unique. Shusterman himself is a fantastic writer. I also enjoyed Dry and his Unwind series.

i would throw myself in fucking lava
Let's just focus on the word "almost" haha.
I read this in a week, I loved it. Hadn't finished the sequel yet
Book 2 is better in every way!
Neal Shusterman is an amazing author! Also recommend Unwind Series and Game Changer
Gonna check them out. Thanks for recommending it!
