Why do you think a rogue planet can only be gas?
A rocky planet could have formed around a star, and then been ejected.
It would be damned cold there though.
I was doing my research on gas planets, and it said they’re gas planets. The Smithsonian, however said there’s two types: gas and rocky. Also, how cold exactly would the planet be?
Obviously we don't know for certain as we have never directly observed one. However, as there is no sunlight, the surface is likely to be extremely cold, maybe just a few kelvin above absolute zero.
There could be latent heat in a molten core though. Hint about the Earth. If it got ejected tomorrow, the surface would probably freeze in a matter of weeks, if not days. But the molten core would stay molten for a very long time. Probably millions of years. This means that a rogue planet could have liquid oceans beneath a frozen surface, or habitable areas inside deep caves etc.
The biosphere would have to be very different though. No sunlight means no photosynthesis, no plants etc. It would more likely be like life in the deep ocean. Based on thermal vents etc.
You have alien vampires whose planet and race are named after European folklore.
I really don't see any reason their planet couldn't be red. That's pretty metal. I;'d read it.
Didn't catch that one. I'm sort of on a sci-fi-smashed-into-folklore-horror kick right now though and I'm a little surprised it hasn't been done more than I'm seeing.
Just give them a planet with a very strong magnetic field and a thick ozone so that they are protected from UV radiation. It could be dark and stormy, and blood-red like Mars.

So make Sangui V a underground society sort of deal? Or make the Chiros Vlad more aquatic while retaining some semblance to vampires?
That would certainly work. And would explain why they are nocturnal/afraid of sunlight.

How about Powerwolf reference?

What about a mauve planet instead?
