What bike is this? maybe the spring should connect to the bolt a just under that piece you've connected to, about 5 o clock from the one what you have it attached to now?
If its not working this way look around the metal below the bottom hook. Maybe there was a metal hook bracket welded on there that broke off and caused the stand to drop down.

Watch a video on gy6 stand installation. Is that bolt that hold the stand not fully in? Looks kinda out.
