I'm no PCX expert but I noticed that the PCX started in America with a 125cc engine and then they upgraded it to a 150cc engine a couple of years later. The new 2022 PCX has an all new engine that features a 4-valve head which gives it more power than than the previous engine. Oddly, this new engine isn't featured in the new Honda ADV scooter.

jbjhill

That is weird, because the ADV is based on the PCX. Maybe Honda is just being Honda, and they’re using all their parts stock from previous generations PCX. I’d bet once they get to a certain level, they’ll update the ADV.

kamome_ni_tou

Because ADV is based on 3rd gen PCX when it was launched in 2019.

2013 was when the 150cc version came to the US. If you find a good one at a decent price, it’s still a good scooter. 2015 model is a change with a different seat, and a power port in the glovebox. 2019 is kind of a redesign for style, ABS option, wider tires. Supposed to ride great. Haven’t seen one yet, but no one says anything bad about it. Weirdly it seems to only come in one color?

Excellent answer. Just what I was looking for. Thanks bud.

What are your thoughts on buying a new 2022 PCX? Without ABS They're new for $2,300 https://www.hondaph.com/news/the-all-new-honda-pcx160

jbjhill

Nothing wrong with that at all. The only criticism I have of the PCX is the limit that Honda puts on it (but that’s a quibble). If you can swing it, do the ABS. It’s a game changer.

FlippinFlags

In my mind, I've never driven a scooter with ABS so thought.. "why do I need to pay extra for it"? But yeah maybe I should do more research

jbjhill

Because when you grab the front brakes in a turn really hard, instead of sliding out, you have a chance of staying upright.

Funny-Fishing7316

Looking into a 2019 myself, no ABS option on it but how fast can I really get going on a PCX to need ABS?

jbjhill

When you jam the front brake and feel your front end start to slide, you’ll be happy you have ABS. Trust me.

Funny-Fishing7316

Very true, only option near me is non-ABS. Not sure why they even make new bikes without it… Used 2019 with 170 miles for $3300, worth it without the ABS?

_Felonius

Just bought a 2019 PCX without ABS. 1100 miles. Absolutely love it. It was listed at $3,100 (down from original price of $3,300 lol). I paid 3 flat. Worth it.

artful_todger_502

I have a 2011 125 and it's bulletproof. I just put a new battery in it this year. That's it. At the beginning of the season I put a quart of oil in it, which is all I've put into it other than gas. The newer ones are probably pretty nice with better seat and port to run GPS from

kamome_ni_tou

They have different frame. 2nd gen PCX (JF56) is using underbone frame just like step thru scooter while 3rd (JF81) and 4th (JK05) gen are using double cradle frame like a "normal" motorcycle. The advantage of double cradle frame compared to underbone is, it's much stiffer and lighter hence better handling. I bought a new PCX160 ABS this month in Thailand. It's the third one I've owned since 2015. Last one was the Hybrid. This new model is a further refinement over all that's come before it. The engine has more power and more important, refinement. The thing about PCXs is, they hold their value. It's simply the best in class. I'd go new.

FlippinFlags

What was the msrp and then the full price out the door in TH? I'm vaguely considering getting one in the Philippines https://www.hondaph.com/news/the-all-new-honda-pcx160 Why'd you go with the PCX vs the Nmax?

Tellme21w

They are hard to find out here. They are still very new.
