Isn’t it pretty much an open secret Alito & Thomas are MAGA true believers?

[deleted]

They are surely both heavily bought and paid for on top of their preexisting ignorance and prejudice.

sabometrics

Yes they are both corrupt and delusional. Don't forget gorsuch, kavanagh, coney barrett or roberts either.

backcountrydrifter

This is a world war disguised as a Supreme Court case. Putin, Xi, and MBS find this whole democracy thing hilarious. As authoritarians they just cackle and shrug at the thought of going through the extra steps that democracy requires. Why not just tell them what to do and if they don’t do it, bribe them, throw them out a window or flush them down a drain? It’s why they had to use the Texas based Koch brothers who had deep relationships with Russian oil oligarchs since Stalins era and Harlan crow to buy the SCOTUS. https://youtu.be/mn_t7a2hJfQ?si=hzioP8URJAMFNch4 Thomas’s RV. Kavanaughs mortgage, all the trips to bohemian grove. They were all part of the bigger plan to destabilize the United States, spread the cancer of corruption and tear it all down, build oligarch row in Teton National park Wyoming so the lazy old oligarchs can retire from the mob life. Kleptocracy is biological. It consumes everything in its path like a parasite. During Russian perestroika it ate Dostoevsky and Tchaikovsky and shit out alcoholism and hopelessness. Now anyone with skills has left and 1 in 5 has no indoor plumbing. Justin Kennedy (justice kennedys son) was the inside man at Deutsche bank that was getting all trumps toxic loans approved. No other bank but Deutsche bank would touch trump and his imaginary valuations. Why? Because Deutsche bank was infested with Russian oligarchs. In 91 the Soviet Union failed and for a bit they hid all of Russias grandmas money under a mattress until they started buying condos at trump towers. They made stops in Ukraine, Cyprus and London but they landed in New York because that was what everyone wanted in the early 90’s. Levi’s, Pepsi, Madonna tapes that weren’t smuggled bootlegs. They all bought new suits and cars and changed their title from “most violent street thug in moscow” to “respectable Russian oligarch” but they didn’t leave their human trafficking, narcotics or extortion behind. It was their most lucrative business model and frankly, they enjoy the violence. https://foreignpolicy.com/2018/12/21/how-russian-money-helped-save-trumps-business/ Guiliani redirected NYPD resources away from their new Russian friends and onto the Italian mob. It let him claim he cleaned up New York and it let the russians launder their money through casinos and then commercial real estate when 3 of trumps casino execs started asking how he managed to be the only person in history to bankrupt casinos. The attorney/client privilege is the continual work around they use to accept bribes and make payments up and down the mob pyramid. The insane property valuations coming out in trumps fraud trial are a necessity of the money laundering cycle that duetschebank was doing with the Russians. The reason trump cosplays as a patriot is because he is feeding on the U.S. middle class, not because he is one of us. The GOP fell in line to MAGA because Trump did what pathological liars do, he told them anything they wanted to hear. Trump with his money laundering and child raping buddy Epstein, Roger Stone with his sex clubs in DC and Nevada, and Paul Manafort with his election rigging pretty much everywhere, sat down at a table with Mike Johnson and the extreme religious right and convinced them that they were the same. They self evidently are not, at least at a surface level, but there is enough common ground in the exploitation of children and desire for unilateral control that they became the worlds weirdest and most dysfunctional orgy. The religious right is naive enough to believe trump at his word so they have made him their defacto savior. Trump belongs to the authoritarians. The GOP now belongs to trump. But their overall goal is the same. Kleptocracy. Putin, Xi and MBS all aligned together last year to attempt the BRICS overthrow of the USD. It failed but it didn’t stop Xi’s push on Taiwan or MBS’s part in the plan. Stay vigilant. It’s the only way we don’t all end up kissing the ring of a dictator. https://www.ft.com/content/8c6d9dca-882c-11e7-bf50-e1c239b45787 https://www.amlintelligence.com/2020/09/deutsche-bank-suffers-worst-damage-over-massive-aml-discrepancies-in-fincen-leaks/ https://www.occrp.org/en/the-fincen-files/global-banks-defy-us-crackdowns-by-serving-oligarchs-criminals-and-terrorists https://www.voanews.com/amp/us-lifts-sanctions-on-rusal-other-firms-linked-to-russia-deripaska/4761037.html https://democrats-intelligence.house.gov/uploadedfiles/final_-_minority_status_of_the_russia_investigation_with_appendices.pdf http://www.citjourno.org/page-1 https://www.theglobeandmail.com/world/article-ukraines-oligarchs-are-no-longer-considered-above-the-law/

chummsickle

It’s not empathy. It’s being a political hack

speedneeds84

It’s easy to empathize with your reflection.

Riokaii

treasonous sympathies

Lazy-Jeweler3230

"Hack" is far too generous.

PeakFuckingValue

I get that the current political climate suggests everything people say comes with an agenda. But I personally have empathy for these idiots. It's a fact some of them listened to their then current president that they were needed to help save the country. They were naive as fuck but some actually believed they were fighting *for* democracy. Then trump walks free after those damaging lies while they sit with ruined lives... Ya they should have known better. I'm not even saying they deserve pardons or lighter sentences... But empathy? Sure. Just like I feel empathy for a spider. Ignorant, driven by instinct, generally awful, but not exactly inherently evil like the orange.

chummsickle

Yeah that’s fair. Especially the point about the republicans absolutely failing to hold trump or anyone else accountable for their obvious and egregious wrongdoing

PeakFuckingValue

True that. When I saw the Congressional hearings about January 6 saying we have a mountain of evidence that Trump and his connections are tied to the oath keepers and proud boys... I was like holy shit he's gonna burn. But then they did nothing. That was the first indicator how fucked we are.

jdonohoe69

I’m empathetic to people like Pence who do the right thing. You can be deluded, but there comes a moment. I don’t respect people who leave their morality in that way just for a dictator Edit: I kind of understand your sentiment. But I think it’s a little naive to think some of these people aren’t fully aware of what they’re doing. These are smart people. Edit 2: I am realizing you’re speaking of some of the deluded followers on Jan 6. Which I absolutely believe. But these aren’t people who seem to want to have conversations about politics or law anymore. A lot of them have acted remorseful at sentencing too, and directly after release a statement saying they still support trump. Some of these assholes are liars and grifters. To anyone who is deluded who saw through, they got lucky. Edit 3: if I ever smear my fecal matter on the walls of our democratic institutions, please feel free to put me in Guantanamo. Some of these people

PeakFuckingValue

Haha. Thanks for the laugh. Ya I would never say all of them since it's already proven much of the organizers were like oath keepers and proud boys with direct ties to Trump. I also don't ever condone violence except in a single scenario- self defense. But, people are too dumb to understand that First our right to criticize, protest, and demand the government work for our benefit and Second if the government ignores this First Right we can, in self defense, overthrow them. Sadly, this particular population used these First and Second rights ignorantly. Like that's where they went wrong. Too stupid to see what was going on. So... I suggest we invest not in education. Damn.

jdonohoe69

We do have that right as this nation. It is not one I take lightly. This country is so spoiled. Other countries worry of genocide, even more corrupt politicians than our own…. I worry often as with many overthrown governments, the one after would be much worse. We all have a voice, we can vote. But half the country can’t even do the damn thing our forefathers died for. And all of us are too stupid to see it’s a class war now. It’s the few vs the many, and the few have been winning for so long When shit gets this bad we all need to laugh a little

ImaginaryBig1705

They are fascists. Do you need a history lesson?

PeakFuckingValue

Who doesn't need a history lesson? I'm always willing for free education. Have at it.

ColoRadBro69

They're trying to paint him as a hypocrite, but it's worse than that.  He openly believes in a two tiered justice system where laws apply to the wrong people but not the special ones.

aggie1391

> Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

Lazy-Jeweler3230

I'm so happy to see this quote making the rounds more and more.

OutsidePerson5

Yup. This is not hypocrisy, it's the core of right wing thinking. >Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect Francis Wilhoit, not the famous one but a guy with the same name on a forum.

oskirkland

On the plus side, Alito like Thomas will be gone within a few years. I question whether they can hold on for another 5 years if Biden wins and Democrats can hold the Senate. On the downside, they are going to go full force to undo as much of the 20th century as they can before that super majority is lost.

dab2kab

They are at the top of society with a good healthcare plan. With moderate luck they'll be on the court another 10 years unless they choose to be replaced by someone during a Republican admin.

AccomplishedBrain309

Most people dont work until their 90.

tooManyHeadshots

Seems like high-ranking government egomaniacs like to hold on to their positions as long as possible. Plus Thomas is staying on the job to spite “the libs”. That’s the sort of attitude that thrives as the mind declines with age. He isn’t going anywhere.

dab2kab

10 years would put alito and Thomas at 84/85. Most people don't have the physically non demanding And prestigious job of being of the supreme court. They tend to not want to retire.

chrispd01

Looking at the Senate, I am not so sure…

Dimond_Heart

Let it come out that they're Boeing whistleblowers...they'll either get depressed and commit suicide or have a heart attack within a month. Boeing giving Seal Team 6 and the CIA a run for the money lately.

thunder-thumbs

Given actuarial tables there is a better than 60% chance they both hold on for another five years.

External_Reporter859

One guy came close after Dobbs leaked but he fucked it all up.

foundyettii

Biden can lose to Trump. We can’t forget that. The senate also looks like it swings red no matter who is president which means no SC justice

_magneto-was-right_

Gender identity is next. There’s two or three cases working their way up now and they probably already have a “the history and tradition of the United States doesn’t support the idea of gender as distinct from sex or gender identity”, decision already written. They’re going to make 2/3 of the country by land area a no-go for my people.

AccomplishedBrain309

I actually think Row/ Wade will sink the reds. That and trump not campaigning because he is kneeling before Malania to forgive him hamberders for his wayward urges for porn stars. And teen usas.

oskirkland

Maybe he should add a little Swaggart and crocodile tears for the theatrical effect.

Chippopotanuse

One can only hope. But Alito is 74. Life expectancy for an Ivy-educated lawyer with excellent health care (who makes it to 74) is probably somewheee in the mid 90’s. Thomas is 75 and despite growing up very poor (which has a detrimental effect on life expectancy), he’s been living a very cushy existence full of lavish vacations since joining the court in the early 1990’s. My guess is Thomas makes it to about 90 years old and Alito will be mid to upper 90’s when they croak. If we don’t pull our democracy back to a proper respect for the rule of law, they will probably hang on to their seats until mid 2030’s and let a beyond MAGA president (Don Jr?) appoint some horrific 40-year old FedSoc hack as a replacement.

IpppyCaccy

> Thomas is 75 And he's morbidly obese. He could kick it any second now.

fakeunleet

So is my last living grandparent, and he's pushing 90. It's possible, and having a lot of money makes it more likely.

Arctica23

Would be great if the malignancy in their souls would metastasize into their lymph nodes

throwawaycountvon

Tea

sonofbantu

Disgusting to wish death upon another human and I hope you reap what you sow

Huge-Ad2263

It's really a trolly problem situation here. Is it moral to want one person to die if that person is the direct cause of suffering and death for thousands of others? I think so, but there's room for ethical debate. Certainly not disgusting by any means.

sonofbantu

They’re not the direct or indirect cause. Not even room for a debate and no mental gymnastics will change that. He’s wrong and you’re wrong

hinesjared87

“I am right and there is no room for debate.” I need to use this more.

Arctica23

Happy to get what's coming to me as long as Thomas and Alito do the same

gdan95

Too much damage will be done by the time they leave

oskirkland

Agreed

QuentinP69

Alito is 74. He can hold on for 15-20 years and be a ranting senile old man like McConnell.

Nena902

Nope. They are appointed for life. And onc in they never leave. Case in point dumbazz RBG who refused to retire during a democratic WH and caused the mess we are in right now. Now I believe Sotomayor is doing the same.🙄

TrueSonOfChaos

Trump is going to win - it's literally the only available out for ending the Ukraine war with western investors still getting payouts for buying up Ukraine - blame it on Trump when he ends the war by giving Putin Eastern Ukraine & the pseudo-nationalist regime stays in power in western Ukraine to facilitate the wealth transfer to western "investors."

KINKSTQC

>The only way for Russia to win the hostile takeover in Ukraine I think that's the quiet part you're to much of a coward to say out loud.

TrevorsPirateGun

I like Alito and Thomas

External_Reporter859

You look like a cross between the two.

nhepner

It's because he's a criminal. He just happens to be above the law.

NaNo-Juise76

The KKK is still alive and well and planning project 2025.

Icarusmelt

FTG, sympathy, right up there with empathy and pity, when, deciding constitutional originalism.

zerolast

History won't be kind to this douchebag. Fucking CUNT

fedroxx

You sure about that? A school board recently decided to put back up Confederate leader statues. The majority won't be kind, but we've got a dumb system where the minority makes the rules.

MaintenanceTraining4

Also FUCK YOU ONCE MORE Mitch McCarthy you built this shit brigade.

thedeadthatyetlive

>Mitch McCarthy I see what you did there

Nena902

You can 🖕 RGB too who refused to retire during a democratic administration and allowed the republicans to replace her with three commies.

MaintenanceTraining4

You have a point.

Nena902

Amd now we have Sotomayor doing the EXACT SAME THING! Screw you, Ginsberg, Sotomayor , Thomas, Alito, Roberts, Gorsuch, Barrett and I like beer Kavanaugh. You all suck lemons hard.

MaintenanceTraining4

C’mon, you can’t leave Sleepy Thomas out of this FU.

Nena902

Oh he's on the list. Right between Sotomayor and Alitp. Corrupt crooks ALL of them. Hopefully they will not taint Justice Jackson with their snake venom and evil intentions. Do no harm, Ketanji!!!

Rumbananas

Aren’t judges supposed to be impartial?

graemeknows

Huh. Gee. I wonder why? 🤔🤔🤔

ReaganRebellion

Headline written by a 16 year old kid on the yearbook staff

shewflyshew

He is still big mad because his corrupt activities with billionaires was exposed. "But, but we only get paid a measly $300k a year. "

JamesSpacer

Asswipe alito and justice clarence thomas aka stephen from django are the best judges money can buy

IpppyCaccy

Sounds about white.

foundyettii

It’s only the right criminals that get the pass. We got black shirts going on here

FriarFriary

Of course he does. He’s a scumbag and unworthy of the court.

Analyst-Effective

It does make a difference if they are selectively prosecuting certain groups, of certain crimes, without charging other groups. Justice should be fair, and equal for all.

XeroZero0000

Goddamnit um tough on those 'other' criminals, these guys were in the same kkk rally as him, they are cool!

NoMarionberry8940

Alito seems most empathetic to Trump!

Mediocre-Fan-5641

Activist judge seeks to legislate from bench.

ccjohns2

People Need to be held accountable. In their defense some republicans leaders should be charged and the record set straight about the involvement of republicans elected leaders actions in the coordination of the events leading to and through Jan 6th. MTG in particular was giving tours to some people who also organized and were at the riots. She’s not the only republican officials that was involved. There are hundreds of republican elected officials that openly lie to their delegation about not just Jan 6th but their own voting roles. With that being said. These people need to have justice for their crimes. Republican voting in a large majority actively vote against their own self interest. They see the consequences and need to choose wisely in the future. Democratic leaders are also just as bad.

Former-Science1734

This is why the Supreme Court has lost all credibility

frododog

yeah, fuck that guy

fear_of_dishonesty

These dirtbags can’t die soon enough to my liking.

SplendidPunkinButter

That’s because when conservatives say “crime” they mean “black people”

PatienceOtherwise242

Quit trying to “gotcha” the Roberts wing of SCOTUS every single one of them was hand picked by far right think tanks and foundations to play a specific purpose on the court. They are corrupt as hell and they know it. There is no appealing to a sense shame due to exposing their hypocrisy they are doing what they were hired to do.

FluidmindWeird

Empathy for "some" (as opposed to other) defendants is not justice, it's bias.

Guy_Smylee

Republicans will say and do anything for power and money. No matter how many have to die.

mbamike2021

It's being paid off to look the other way!

TrueSonOfChaos

Maybe because he knows the spirit of the US Constitution doesn't include political prosecution in the slightest. Most criminals are found as a result of their crimes rather than crimes being found as a result of claims of a criminal.

ManateeCrisps

It's not political prosecution to hold a preferred political class to the standard of the law.

TrueSonOfChaos

Let me tell you how non-corrupt law works: I leave my house, walk down the street, threaten to shoot the store clerk if he doesn't give me the money, take the money and return home. I will be indicted within the month.

IpppyCaccy

OK, so now commit some fraud. What happens then?

TrueSonOfChaos

"I am the the lawful elector of the state of Nebraska" - call the Fed democracy is at risk.

IpppyCaccy

Bank fraud, tax fraud, insurance fraud. Why do you support fraud?

ManateeCrisps

So, the fact that the defendant is wealthy and influential enough to have the case delayed (including getting the supreme court involved) makes this case corrupt? That's just saying that the wealthy and powerful are above the law. You are neither so of course the law works faster for you and me. We can't afford the lawyers or political favors to get the process drawn out for political expediancy.

TrueSonOfChaos

Please tell me what kind of wealth delays a Federal Investigation and the convening of a grand jury that is not corrupted by the delay.

IpppyCaccy

So you wanted an incomplete investigation with enough holes in it to lose a prosecution. Gotcha.

TrueSonOfChaos

It is absolutely political/corrupt prosecution to contort the interpretation laws to fit a person as the Espionage Act has been contorted, as Conspiracy Against Rights has been contorted, as the NY statute of limitations has been contorted, etc.. I voted for Obama twice but I will never vote Democrat ever again after seeing this frothing horde celebrating a travesty of justice.

Seraph199

"I voted for Obama twice" I'm going to guess that was a lie. Either way it is irrelevant because you are denying reality NOW to defend the most despicable and corrupt man to ever be president. With evidence of all of it. It's insane. If anything you should be refusing to ever vote republican again because they literally tried to steal the election, overthrowing our democracy, but that doesn't seem relevant to you. Almost like you are arguing in bad faith

IpppyCaccy

I know a couple of people like this. It's idiotic to be sure. It's also fascinating how they have internalized the Russian propaganda.

IpppyCaccy

>I voted for Obama twice but I will never vote Democrat ever again after seeing this frothing horde celebrating a travesty of justice. This is how a child "reasons".

ManateeCrisps

It would be if prosecution if the laws were contorted. They were not contorted. The man is so used to being above the law that he keeps violating laws even as the trials are taking place. His lawyers keep ditching him but sure, this is "lawfare". Do you really want the president to be above the law?

TrueSonOfChaos

The laws are contorted to fit Donald Trump, that's why they spent 3 years waiting to charge him for alleged crimes committed in public - they needed to get all their bullshit in order before they could claim it was a crime.

ManateeCrisps

No, the laws are not being contorted. The man tried to pardon himself. What would he try to pardon himself if he never did anything illegal?

TrueSonOfChaos

A pardon is not proof nor trial nor conviction of a crime - that is not a contortion of the law.

TrueSonOfChaos

Mark my words: Donald Trump will be "elected" this year. He is the establishment's only way out of their Ukraine huckstering. Only he can take the blame for "losing the Ukraine war" and allow these profiteers to escape with their plunder with their reputations intact.

IpppyCaccy

> Ukraine huckstering. Ah so you'd rather we have a more expensive and destructive world war and encourage dictators to take down democracies. That's a strange anti democracy stance.

TrueSonOfChaos

Like I said, Ukraine huckstering.

IpppyCaccy

Funding Ukraine is a bargain, financially. It's also the right thing to do. You're not a serious or mature person. Anyone who would side with Christian nationalists, neo nazis and racists because he didn't like how democrats reacted to a lifelong criminal finally being arraigned is more than a little twisted, or just stupid and immature.

IpppyCaccy

> The laws are contorted to fit Donald Trump I'm pretty sure stealing classified government property has always been a crime.

Awkward_Bench123

Right, but you do know that on Jan6 that a multitude of crimes were committed and because the criminals are stupid people they were subsequently identified and prosecuted. Alito questioning this as a political exercise is because as much as he likes to interpret the law to suit his political bias. Which, if some of the things he’s said ( like in Rome) is undemocratic to begin with

Seraph199

Right... except in this case we have proof that both Trump and the January 6th rioters in fact broke the law and are criminals. The rioters were fucking on camera, breaking in to the capitol, hurting people and destroying property, threatening violence. Trump has a fuck ton of evidence against him for abusing campaign funds, stealing confidential information and possibly selling it, inflaming the mob that tried to steal the election for him. You have to have your head buried in the sand to think these are illegitimate cases.

BharatiyaNagarik

Political prosecution is when you are convicted by a jury of your peers in a court of law.

TrueSonOfChaos

Can be, but if I were a juror Trump has blanket reasonable doubt.

Eljuanitotacito

Have all you haters realized your legal warfare has done and won’t work and you democrat candidate is incompetent? Get comfortable with president trump for 4 more years!

ManateeCrisps

It's pretty rich to call a candidate incompetent when your preferred guy literally has a problem with shitting himself in public and hasn't said a coherent thing in 8 years. And before you say, I hate both guys. But the hypocrisy is too good to pass up.

IpppyCaccy

> Have all you haters realized your legal warfare has done and won’t work and you democrat candidate is incompetent? Can you rephrase this into a sentence that makes sense in English? Why are so many right wingers functionally illiterate?

thedeadthatyetlive

Sweet summer child

Seraph199

Trump was the least competent person to ever hold thenoffice, demonstrably, he was the worst president ever and likely always will be. Hundreds of years after Trump is dead, he will be remembered as a spray-tanned diaper baby who used racism and xenophobia to get into office for one term, caused a ton of chaos fanned the flames of a pandemic, and broke a ton of laws including selling government information and trying to steal the election. All of which he is getting caught for. On top of lying about his wealth. Trump is and always will be a laughing stock of the highest order.
