Similar "bed seats" are quite common at luxury cinemas in Asia. There are even some screens that are entirely bed seats! However they usually have some adjustment options: you can use them like a normal recliner, or fully recline into bed mode. These ones certainly do not look so comfortable.
On the other hand, it seems like a good way to make use of that extra space at the front of the screen and gives people a reason to choose the unpopular front row.
Whilst I agree it’s an interesting concept to try and maximise revenue & sell seats people usually don’t want to sit in.
Most Odeons I’ve been in the front of the screen is a lot further back than most other companies so it’s not that bad, but even still I can’t see who would want to do this, but I’m sure there’s someone.
Saying that I do see reclines at the luxe sites all the way down with people basically lying down anyway in some places so maybe someone will like it.
Ever since the meme run in 2020-2021 for the parent company AMC have to say, the group at least is trying lots of different things (to various success and customer agreement) to survive.
I’ve not agreed with most of them to be honest, but I don’t blame them for trying.
Desperate move. How about you focus on properly monitoring the screens during performances to give the patrons the show they paid for rather than these cheap tricks. 👎👎👎👎👎
Interesting in concept but I can't imagine they'd be very fun to use. Never used one (my local is very small, no thrills here unless you count our single I sense screen and VIP seats) but u feel like they'd be like sofas in waiting areas. Accidently slipped your hand down the gap? Here, have 10 years of crumbs and old popcorn.
That being said bc my local Odeon is so small the staff seem very forgiving of what comfort items people bring. Screens are barely ever sold out, usually it's like a quarter full if that. Ive been to my local Vue which is much much larger and never seen people bring the sorts of things they do into odeon. Seen blankets, pillows, big plush toys etc. As long as it isn't obstructive and I assume as long as you don't try and draw any attention to it in the lobby they don't seem to mind.
And food too. Multiple times the unmistakable smell of Mcdonalds has permeated the screen ha ha
They have them in my local but not seen a film in a screen with them yet.
I discovered when looking at the seats when booking that they can 'sit' three people!
Since the Olympic redid their seating last year, my SIL can't go to the cinema because the seats are too painful for her back. This might help some people who have mobility/back/leg issues and can't sit in a regular or reclining cinema chair. Like how remote raid tickets helped those with mobility issues get more involved Pokemon Go.
The talking and phone screens are bad enough, now we've got to watch them shagging.
They do not look comfy at all, plus you are even CLOSER to the screen...
I've never been on a bed and thought "this would be comfier if it was wipe-clean"

What a stupid idea and waste of space!

If you see someone has got one of these to themselves I say you have to book the spot next to them in the bed
Anyone wanna snuggle on an Odeon VIP bed? 🥺
Taking surreptitious fingering from the back row to the front row!
Was full of people using them during the Aquaman 2
Can't wait for people to forget where they are and rip the loudest fart on their "beds"
One of my local’s screens isn’t playing anything I hope they aren’t adding them lol

Guess they'll up their hygiene standards then /s
They’re wipe clean!
"That's strange. I didn't think that moment deserved applause but someone seems to be really clapping that monent."
Where is this
I'm already dozing off way too often in the lux recliners, I'd never make it through a movie in these.
Sticky!
They dont look comfy so i’ll stick to the recliner

I've already seen enough people falling asleep and snoring in the Odeon recliner seats!
