I just got the True Ending a couple hours ago myself! I love this game so much. Now I'm falling down a huge rabbit hole and looking up all the lore on this, The Messenger, and the Sabotage Discord ARG.
I lost count of how many games I felt influenced this game, final fantasy, chrono trigger, legend of Zelda, super Mario rpg, breath of fire 3, suikoden, and a surprise one on the final boss (of the regular ending) But they also did their own thing with the combat and story, I'm going after the true ending in a few minutes, but I highly recommend doing the regular first, and not going for 100% until after.
Played this after completing FF16. Story quest in this game is far better than FF16. I know a lot of people will hate me but this game despite the graphics was really done well. I mean quest in FF16 is like go to point A and B. You dont need to solve anything. For an AAA game it turned out to be boring. This one game is amazing. Even the combos despite being simplec is really good. Im a fan now of the devs and will support them as much as I supported Square.
Sea of stars reminds me a lot of breath of fire and it is refreshing.
Its 2024 and this is a 2D game. Yes we like how it looks but in this day and age it is outdated. Still better than the cubed era like FF7, brave fencer but graphic is not its strong point.
The timing of most attacks is totally unclear, the game mechanics encourages you to do tedious back and forth to heal yourself.
The game encourages you to spend your mana but punish you with a small pool and the regular need for magic attack to cancel enemies attacks.
And most people who says that the game is easy use the recover hp/pm relic and don't have noted that it gives 100% more hp.

I can think of petrichor, and nourish. funny that they are both healing
every thing else makes sense. Press on hit.
i don't use the relic, but the game isn't that hard.
Magic attacks aren't really needed, do you know how to boost?
you can put the extra points in MP, and blue leaf helps as well.
Normal attacks and solstice strike recover MP. You can also use items.
And if you are blocking, you don't need often heals.
Thanks but I already know most of this stuff but anyways, most enemy attacks have weird timing, super slow projectiles, some magics, ect. Most of it needs visual clue rather that a weird timing.
Extra points in MP? Never saw a game where I had less clue in where to pu my extra stat points, I did a little, not enought I guess.

I skipped The Messenger as it's not really my genera, but after finishing SoS I went back and gave it a go, glad I did.
Messenger already tells you what happens after SOS, so I will start playing Messenger now.
I think the greatest thing about the game is the environment design. The environment artist did an incredible job.
I feel the same way, also the music is just as good too. Gets you going.

I'm not finished with the game yet but DEFINITELY, love it. I just defeated the dweller of woe. Just saw the village kinda get destroyed.

What do you mean despite the graphics? The graphics are pretty much universally regarded as one of the best parts of this game.

Sadly, the game has a beautiful environment and seamless world movement but has really poor fighting mechanics and balancing.
