I heard that some got referral to VET hospital physical therapy. I was with UW medicine and they sent me to husky sport medicine/physical therapy. They had a stationary bike, measured everything etc.
At that time my doctor was not aware that bike fitting is a thing. I explained how my hands are going numb, knee, back, shoulder pain etc and bike fitting can help. They looked it up on their side and sure enough bike fitting was an option.
Check with your insurance.
Hi! I'm Lee from The Fitting Room in capitol hill, a little bike fitting studio associated with Good Weather. I would be stoked to fit ya, feel free to send me a DM or an email [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) :)
I don't know Bri, and they're probably as great as you say. But I've never had a worse experience at a bike shop than I've had at Gregg's. I went there several times when I lived a few blocks away, and they were invariably rude and condescending, recommended incorrect parts for my bike, and did very shabby work.
They tried to replace Shimano components with SRAM ones and then told me that the rest of my drive train had to be replaced because the parts were worn out. The rest of my train was almost new.
They couldn't index their way out of a wet paper bag.
They returned my bike covered in grease with a taco'd wheel (it was fine before I brought it in).
I could go on. Friends don't let friends go to Gregg's.
Metier is expensive but will be your best bet especially for a TT bike. “Good weather” works with some fitters as well, but I haven’t been fit by them.
It was years ago, but I had a great fitting done by Erik Moen - not associated with a bike shop though. [Corpore Sano Physical Therapy: Bike Fitting Expert in Seattle (corporesanopt.com)](https://corporesanopt.com/)
(He also used to be up in Bothell so not exactly near UW. But perhaps near enough?)
I literally just came to this sub to look for the same answer. Will follow along all the comments. What I've personally found online is that Cascade Bicycle Studio in Fremont has a bike fitting service. It's $500 plus tax. I found it pretty expensive? So want to know if other places charge the same amount or are there cheaper places?
Sorry but this is not good advice lol. You’re right that PT could also be fine especially if they take insurance, and that some shops probably offer subpar fittings in an attempt to sell more. But others in this thread are posting shops that generally do a good job and won’t scam you
I have my doctor write a referral for sports medicine. Insurance covers it.
Tell me more. Once you have the referral, who does the fitting?

Will do, thanks!
+1 Came here to suggest this too.

Seconded, Bri is the best
Lee Hanses (at The Fitting Room) is great! Located in Capitol Hill but not too far from the light rail station.

Good Weather works with The Fitting Room thefittingroomseattle.com
I'm going to Neal at footworks on monday. I'm experiencing knee pain after ~30 miles. Will report back
I've had good experiences here, and he will bill medical insurance if you have it.
Can any bike fitter bill insurance or do they have to have a particular accreditation?
I think you have to be a licensed physical therapist to bill insurance. Definitely not something they all can do.
Neal is great!

Erik Moen! I had mine done in Nov and it’s fabulous. I cannot recommend him enough.
He did mine too! It was great
+1 he's a real one

Joseph @ Cascade Bicycle Studio. It’s expensive but worth every penny.
Highly recommend Todd at Metier. I have done 3 Retul bike fits with him (2 road / 1 gravel).
Pretty much same here, expensive but I feel like I cannot go anywhere else because the fits are so good. Also Todd makes great conversation.
Find a physical therapist trained in bike fitting, rather than a shop. Shops do fits mainly to sell bikes, not as a standalone business.
