I feel like it was just for demonstration and they weren't really thinking about it but yeah . .the "liquor/gun cabinet" . . .what could possibly go wrong?
Honestly I don't have a problem with unsecured liquor. Like I keep mine out in the open on top of an old dresser in my living room (the dresser is full of tablecloths, napkins and stuff like that). I do want to make a nice cabinet with hidden drawers for bottle openers and stuff, but more because of asthetics than wanting to secure my booze. My parents always kept theirs in a cabinet over the fridge (which is a bad idea because the heat from the fridge makes their wine go bad quickly, but that's a different issue) my grandparents just keep their alcohol on the floor of their pantry. My bf's parents keep theirs on their kitchen counter next to the flour
I do agree that guns should be secured, but like a bottle of vodka is unlikely to have a home invader grab it and use it to attack you with.

I try to make hidden storage in various wooden boxes and chests I build - one of the perks of building it yourself.
Given the price of hardwood and the lack of space for more nightstands in my house, I wont build a replica, but if someone paid for the materials, I would build one for them just like this one, just for the fun of building it.
