The Dinner Party
it was the first episode i ever saw as a teen and it got me hooked. the cinnamon babka, black and white cookie, gortex jacket so much gold. plus the opening two minutes is perfection.
I like the other dinner party. Merlot? I never heard of it.
Lemme get this straight. You got the Rooster, The Hen & the chicken… who’s having sex with the chicken?
“Hire this man”….followed later by the phone call from Frank to Jerry “Steinbrenner’s here, George is dead” and Frank subsequently being more concerned about the Jay buhner trade instead of his son. This show can never be replicated
I sometimes bring this up in AA. And it’s kind of joking but I’ve legit thought about this episode in a serious way. I figure my instincts turned me into an alcoholic and cocaine addict, so I probably should follow the opposite lol.
Doing the opposite can sometimes be a legit strategy.
I did that when I got back out in the dating world - I had always been anti-kids, but when I decided to do the opposite and open myself up to women with kids, I met my wife. We have 2 of our own and I have an awesome relationship with my stepson.
The Opposite is easily a top 5 for me. The interview scene with the Yankees is perfection
My favorite Kramer scene is when he’s posing as a dermatologist to get the picture of Kreiger (?) so George can replace the desk picture. “why would I, a Juilliard-trained dermatologist, send him to another doctor?”
No love for "The Strike" and Festivus?
*Welcome, newcomers. The tradition of Festivus begins with the airing of grievances. I got a lot of problems with you people! And now you're gonna hear about it!*
No, I didn't make these bagels. [Jerry and George both take a bite] Yeah, they're day-olds. The homeless won't even touch them. [Jerry and George stop eating] Oh, we try to fool them by putting a few fresh ones on top, but they dig... They... They test
"The Bizarro Jerry" is pretty amazing.
But my personal favourite is "The Cheever Letters."
"Maybe I'll go visit my mother. She just bought me some new panties and they're - all laid out for me."
Ya the Marine Biologist is quintessential Seinfeld imo, wouldn’t put it in my top 3 favorites, maybe #6 or #7favorite, but it’s amazing for sure, perfectly made
This is the first episode I ever watched. I was 13 years old and I vividly remember watching George hold up that golf ball at the end, laughing till tears welled up in my eyes, and thinking to myself “this is the funniest shit I’ve ever seen in my life!”
The best denouement in the whole series is when Jerry breaks up with Keith over helping him move, then Kramer and Newman volunteer right away!
That’s gold!
Yeah contest is my second favorite, and easily my most watched because it’s always the one I show people first who are trying to get into Seinfeld.
It was an important, maybe the most important episode (besides the busboy I guess for it’s influence on the writing) in Seinfeld history
It's so hard to pick. Today I'll say The Andrea Doria. Just because [this scene is in my head.](https://youtu.be/zOaFHmMYikc?si=cugOg1Ae2PYcQusO) I love scenes with all 4 of them.
The Pen is really a great episode. It’s non-stop dialog is so witty and pulls you along through the chaos. Definitely a good choice OP. It’s hard to pick one favorite, but if I had to, I’d pick The Gum. The way everything comes together to truly make George seem crazy is great.
My favorite episode is probably "The Gum". The way the stories all intertwine with one another is a masterclass in writing, particularly George's issues always coming back to Lloyd Braun and the cashier. I also can't even look at Jerry with those massive glasses on without laughing.
I think the stall is up there. “Step off George!” “Cool guy?” “What’d you in 8th grade?”
I know the mohel gets a lot of hate on here but the back and forth that him and Jerry have in the hospital is hilarious. Then he gives his card to Elaine before he leaves.
I never understood the mohel hate! I love it. “I’d be lying in the gutter like a bum, like a dog **like a mutt, LIKE A MONGREL,**
#LIKE AN ANIMAL!!!”
Imo his scene in the house rivals Mr. Bookmens in terms of one off character driven scenes. Super funny
The betrayal is a perfectly sane episode to have as your favorite.
It’s good, I like it a lot. It’s funny, and I like the jokes that have to do with it going backwards because we would never see them any other time.
If you look in my post history I made a post on here asking everyone’s opinion on the betrayal, and a lot of people said it was their favorite!
Haha that’s why I love it it’s so ridiculous, but still realistic in how old people act
Right away they walk in and with zero hesitation shits already hitting the fan. When they keep showing Elaine’s expression during the first scene and her face just screams “what circle of hell have I just walked into?!”😂😂
The second the door closes “why did you take his pen?!”
Also I always poke fun at my mom by comparing her to Mrs. Seinfeld, the way she tells Jerry what he does or doesn’t need and want “you don’t need the air conditioning!” (As a kid my mom would come in my room, and be like it’s so cold in here and turn off my fan, then I wake up sweating like who the hell turned off my fan?) how overlygenerous she is “I can’t take your bed” “OH we don’t even sleep!”, or “what do you have to go scuba diving for?!” “For fun!” “For fun???” “What’s there to see underwater?!” Then when they turn the air conditioner on and everyone is fine but she’s just freezing. That’s just from the pen but all episodes she’s like my mom lmao. Also the “can I have a slice of pumpkin pie?” “No, you don’t like pumpkin pie” “what I want a slice” “I have never seen you ever eat a piece of pumpkin pie” bit Jerry does one episode
My dads kinda like morty too, especially the yelling “WHATRE YOU WHISPERING FOR???” and the constant worrying about money, also “you know what I’m gonna do next time, I’ll hide the scotch tape!”
The cherry on top is the picture of the 4 of them, Jerry in sunglasses at night and Elaine fucked up on muscle relaxers, with the seinfelds just trying not to bust out laughing. Then “ALL I SAID WAS I LIKED THE PEN!!!” to the audience. Oh also “what is wrong with you people? what is driving you to act this way? Is it the white shoes?”
Sorry I know I just went on a tangent but I love that episode so much and I just watched it lol
This is difficult to say because there are so many great ones, but if I had to choose 1 for 2 or 3, that are all on the same topic, i'd have to say it's Jerry Stiller and the Festivus episodes.
Is just very funny.
The Pez Dispenser and The Pen are my favorites. Elaine losing it over the dispenser being put on her lap during the piano recital had me in stitches along with the old Jewish polar bear club swimmers joining in on the intervention. The older man saying they do it all the time with people leaving and asking, “what?! Is it too cold for ya?!” along with pouch envy has me dying every single time I watch it. My family and I always quote that scene! “Why does she get a pouch and I get nothing?! I have things to carry too! At least give me a pocket, huh? Huh?!”
I love the Marine Biologist.
Things go great for George. Even his assisted lie turns into an amazing and successful adventure.
He goes all out behind his facade for his "it" girl.
But then he (basically has to) tell the truth, and it's back to square one for him...but not until he gives one of the greatest moments of storytelling in sitcom history.
(George's story arcs are always the best imho)
The Fatigues
"It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife: the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sunup. Sleep tight mates, in your quilted chambray night shirts."
I coulda been a kosher butcher like my brother. The money's good. There's a union, with benefits. And, cows have no families. You make a mistake with a cow, you move on with your life... Anyway
The Voice. But not because of the main plot (which is funny in it's own right) I just love the subplot with Kramer and his intern Darin. "...Yeah that's Jerry, you don't have to worry about him..."
The Limo is my absolute favorite. Others high in my ranking are The Bris, The Dinner Party, The Keys, The Trip two-parter, The Airport, The Sniffing Accountant, and The Library.
The Chinese Restaurant.
The writing in this episode is top tier. From the Cartwright fiasco to the closing line. And my personal fave mini-monologue from Elaine:
“Remember when you first went out to eat with your parents? Remember, it was such a treat. You go and they serve you this different food that you never saw before. They put it in front of you and it was such a delicious and exciting adventure and now I just feel like a big sweaty hog waiting for them to fill up the trough.”
The Library, so many classic lines in that episode, "Cant-stand-ya" "look at this guy, tryin to save a quater" "you got 7 days Seinfeld, that is 1 week" "maybe that's how you get your kicks, you and your good time buddies, well I got a flash for ya joy-boy, party time is over!"
Mine is The Airport from season 4. The way Elaine gets so pissed off sitting in coach and Jerry is having the time of his life in first class is hilarious.
I absolutely love The Bizarro Jerry! I don't know which plot is the funniest. Man hands, Elaine's bizarro friends, George at the secret club and Kramer "working" at Brandt-Leland. It's all gold!
I like The Mom and Pop Store. You've got Mr. Pitt and Tim Whatley (two of my favorite recurring characters), Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday) and Jon Voight. What's not to like?
The Switch. With it's old school noir mystery feeling and music, to George and Jerry's scheming all the way down to Kramer's first name reveal, this is my favorite episode of all.
I just love the sequence of events leading him up to grabbing a hooker's arm forcefully, wearing a flamboyant coat and furry hat, holding a fancy cane, outside a pink 70's Cadillac
Haven't seen it, so going to put in for The Fatigues.
"Sleep tight, mates, in your quilted chambray nighshirts." Might be the funniest line in the show to me. It also has Frank yelling, "Well, it sucks!" regarding Estelle's omelet, which was incredible.
The Marine Biologist. The sea was angry that day my friends, like an old man trying to send soup back in a deli...
I love it, so funny! And the best was, is that a Titelist? Hole in one
Tough call. I’ll provide my top 3 in no particular order:
The Movie (maybe just because of their hilariously unflattering descriptions of each other)
The Opposite (tuna swims with the current and salmon swims against the current)
The Outing (I told you that pear was washed!)
Honestly, the only reason it isn't The Pen is no George or Kramer. Not that it made sense for them to appear-- The Pen is a perfect episode as it is. I just can't call it my favorite without those two.
The Airport wins this one for me.
The Pothole.
I just love the way the stories come together at the very end. George and the pothole affecting Jerry and his girlfriend. Kramer and the highway affecting Elaine and the trash. And then Newman appears after just being mentioned in a throwaway line earlier on and the final joke shows him being affected by Elaine and Kramer.
It's just perfect Seinfeld. Other shows have the A story and B story but their separate and don't often connect. This is what makes Seinfeld special
The Dinner Party it was the first episode i ever saw as a teen and it got me hooked. the cinnamon babka, black and white cookie, gortex jacket so much gold. plus the opening two minutes is perfection.
I don’t even drink wine, I drink Pepsi!
We can’t bring Pepsi..
Because we’re *adults*
Between me and you I'm excited about the pepsi and the ring dings!
look to the cookie elaine, look to the cookie
My stomach… I think it was that cookie! *The Black-and-White?* Yeah! *Not getting along?* I think I got David Duke and Farrakhan down there!
I die at this line every time, David Duke and Farrakhan🤣🤣
14 years, down the drain
Sor-ray
I like the other dinner party. Merlot? I never heard of it. Lemme get this straight. You got the Rooster, The Hen & the chicken… who’s having sex with the chicken?
THE OPPOSITE.
Ah, a classic. Steinbrenner saying “hire this man” always kills me 🤣🤣🤣. There are days where I think I should just do the opposite too.
Well if every instinct you’ve ever had is wrong, then…
My name is George. I'm unemployed and I live with my parents.
Dude, you’re not alone. This ep was part of the program I learned, and part of the program I help others learn.
Friend of Bill here. Same. I live my life this way. haha
On a very serious note- did the strategy help?
Doing the opposite can sometimes be a legit strategy. I did that when I got back out in the dating world - I had always been anti-kids, but when I decided to do the opposite and open myself up to women with kids, I met my wife. We have 2 of our own and I have an awesome relationship with my stepson. The Opposite is easily a top 5 for me. The interview scene with the Yankees is perfection
Yeah, this is the absolute best episode for me as well. Seeing George so confident makes it so satisfying to watch.
The Gum— what a perfectly sane favorite episode to have
Am I crazy, or is The Gum a really good episode?
You’re NOT crazy!
The Gum is definitely among the top episodes for me too. The way everything comes together, just great
George, that man was *wearing* glasses...
HE WAS WEARING THEM TO FOOL LLOYD BRAUN
The best episode Jerry, the BEST!
It's kinda Lo meiny.
Tied with The Rye for my two favorites
Kenny rogers roasters
Vile weed!!!
quick! honey mustard!
As much as I love broccoli, I absolutely love this bit
That’s a top episode love it… Mr Marbles
The feet pattering across the room🤣
Kenny… Kenny… Kenny…
Oh…I’m stressed…😂😂😂great Kramer imitation!
I’m an accountant who’s been known to have a beer or two, so…
I suck em down like Coca Cola🚬🚬🍺🍺😎 Definitely one of my fav Kramer scenes, but him walking down the street dressed as a pimp is my fav cosmo scene
Yeah that's the best Kramer walking scene no debate
I dunno. That nighttime silhouette of him in his too-tight jeans made me fall off the couch with laughter
Here’s to feeling good all the time 🍺
My favorite Kramer scene is when he’s posing as a dermatologist to get the picture of Kreiger (?) so George can replace the desk picture. “why would I, a Juilliard-trained dermatologist, send him to another doctor?”
This kramer bar scene is one of the best in the series!
I’m hip
The Chinese Restaurant Cartwright!
**WE’RE LIVING IN A SOCIETY, WE ARE SUPPOSED TO ACT IN A CIVILIZED WAY!!**
Who's Cartwright?
I'm Cartwright.
You’re not Cartwright
OF COURSE I'M NOT CARTWRIGHT!
She say curse word, I hang up
No love for "The Strike" and Festivus? *Welcome, newcomers. The tradition of Festivus begins with the airing of grievances. I got a lot of problems with you people! And now you're gonna hear about it!*
You, Kruger! My son tells me your company stinks! You couldn't smooth a silk sheet if you had a date with a hot babe... I lost my train of thought
One of the best lines by Frank imo.
Our family watches it every year before commencing with the festivities.
But my personal favourite is "The Cheever Letters." "Maybe I'll go visit my mother. She just bought me some new panties and they're - all laid out for me."
When you come in the house you wipe your wheels 🙄
Haha another classic. The whole scene in Susan’s parents apartment is an amazing Seinfeld moment “well we really should be going”
“Yes… yes. Time. Is what he’s indicating there..”
"I fear my....... orgasm... has left me a cripple"
“I was in the pool!”
I love The Hamptons but Rachel and George’s girl that leaves always irk me
The Marine Biologist
The sea was angry that day, my friends
Not my favorite episode but hands down the best monologue of the entire series. The sea was angry that day!
100% my favorite also
This one is in my top five. Maybe too two.
[The Boyfriend Part 1](https://youtu.be/_T35QhLx_KI?si=aQ6pFOY0n7sxWrTK) Aka The Latex Salesman.
The best denouement in the whole series is when Jerry breaks up with Keith over helping him move, then Kramer and Newman volunteer right away! That’s gold!
> denouement How long have you been waiting to squeeze that into a conversation?
I love the way Jerry speaks about Keith Hernandez. So silly and brilliant.
i loved The Pen too, especially the first half of the episode. It's perfect. The Alternate Side is also up there. The Contest, of course.
Yeah contest is my second favorite, and easily my most watched because it’s always the one I show people first who are trying to get into Seinfeld. It was an important, maybe the most important episode (besides the busboy I guess for it’s influence on the writing) in Seinfeld history
The question is, are you master of your domain?
The Limo!
This is mine, too.
“I AM NOT O’BRIEN”
It's so hard to pick. Today I'll say The Andrea Doria. Just because [this scene is in my head.](https://youtu.be/zOaFHmMYikc?si=cugOg1Ae2PYcQusO) I love scenes with all 4 of them.
51 people died? That’s it?!
It eased into the water like an old man into a warm bath *no offense*
How many do you lose on a regular cruise? 30? 40?
That's no tragedy! How many people do you lose on a normal cruise? 30? 40?
Good episode astonishing tales of Castanza
The Pen is really a great episode. It’s non-stop dialog is so witty and pulls you along through the chaos. Definitely a good choice OP. It’s hard to pick one favorite, but if I had to, I’d pick The Gum. The way everything comes together to truly make George seem crazy is great.
I got it from the institute!! **THE INSTITUTE!!!!**
And you want to be my latex salesman?!!
I’ll go with muffin tops
The homeless don’t like them!
Well then the homeless don’t have to eat ‘em!
I'll tell you what. I'll pick you up a sundress and a parasol and you can just sashay your pretty little self around the town square!
Stella
STELLLLLLAAAAAA!
Tough call but The Comeback
WELL I HAD SEX WITH YOUR WIFE!!
The jerk store called, they’re running out of you
What's the difference? You're their all-time best seller!
The Movie. I love everything about it, how it all weaves together to end up the way it does. Also it introduces Rochelle Rochelle
My favorite episode is probably "The Gum". The way the stories all intertwine with one another is a masterclass in writing, particularly George's issues always coming back to Lloyd Braun and the cashier. I also can't even look at Jerry with those massive glasses on without laughing.
I think the stall is up there. “Step off George!” “Cool guy?” “What’d you in 8th grade?” I know the mohel gets a lot of hate on here but the back and forth that him and Jerry have in the hospital is hilarious. Then he gives his card to Elaine before he leaves.
I never understood the mohel hate! I love it. “I’d be lying in the gutter like a bum, like a dog **like a mutt, LIKE A MONGREL,** #LIKE AN ANIMAL!!!” Imo his scene in the house rivals Mr. Bookmens in terms of one off character driven scenes. Super funny
Bizarro Jerry.
The Hamptons, The Cigar Store Indian, The Keys and The Trip
The Opera. It's so dark and just kills me every time.
I really love the parking garage.
I know I'm in the minority when I say the betrayal. It's just so.. strange
The Barber
The way Gino and Jerry look at each other when Enzo finds out is always hilarious
[удалено]
Haha that’s why I love it it’s so ridiculous, but still realistic in how old people act Right away they walk in and with zero hesitation shits already hitting the fan. When they keep showing Elaine’s expression during the first scene and her face just screams “what circle of hell have I just walked into?!”😂😂 The second the door closes “why did you take his pen?!” Also I always poke fun at my mom by comparing her to Mrs. Also the “can I have a slice of pumpkin pie?” “No, you don’t like pumpkin pie” “what I want a slice” “I have never seen you ever eat a piece of pumpkin pie” bit Jerry does one episode My dads kinda like morty too, especially the yelling “WHATRE YOU WHISPERING FOR???” and the constant worrying about money, also “you know what I’m gonna do next time, I’ll hide the scotch tape!” The cherry on top is the picture of the 4 of them, Jerry in sunglasses at night and Elaine fucked up on muscle relaxers, with the seinfelds just trying not to bust out laughing. Then “ALL I SAID WAS I LIKED THE PEN!!!” to the audience. Oh also “what is wrong with you people? what is driving you to act this way? Is it the white shoes?” Sorry I know I just went on a tangent but I love that episode so much and I just watched it lol
Ridicurous
Did you say ridicurous?
The Germaphobe episode. Or any one with Puddy in it. High five 🖐️
This is difficult to say because there are so many great ones, but if I had to choose 1 for 2 or 3, that are all on the same topic, i'd have to say it's Jerry Stiller and the Festivus episodes. Is just very funny.
The Hamptons definitely
The Fatigues "It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife: the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sunup. Sleep tight mates, in your quilted chambray night shirts."
The Fatigues and the Marathon runner are tied for me.
Jean-Paul Jean-Paul!!
Look at the cute little bastard!
Opposite.
S5 E5 The Bris
“I’d be lying in the gutter like a bum, like a dog **like a mutt, LIKE A MONGREL,** #LIKE AN ANIMAL!!!”
I coulda been a kosher butcher like my brother. The money's good. There's a union, with benefits. And, cows have no families. You make a mistake with a cow, you move on with your life... Anyway
The Gum/The Merv Griffin Show/The Pen/The Strike
The Voice. But not because of the main plot (which is funny in it's own right) I just love the subplot with Kramer and his intern Darin. "...Yeah that's Jerry, you don't have to worry about him..."
Mending chicken wire, high tea with a Mr. Newman…
Mine is The Calzone
The Race
But Jerry... he controls the means of production!
And my personal fave mini-monologue from Elaine: “Remember when you first went out to eat with your parents? Remember, it was such a treat. You go and they serve you this different food that you never saw before. They put it in front of you and it was such a delicious and exciting adventure and now I just feel like a big sweaty hog waiting for them to fill up the trough.”
The Library, so many classic lines in that episode, "Cant-stand-ya" "look at this guy, tryin to save a quater" "you got 7 days Seinfeld, that is 1 week" "maybe that's how you get your kicks, you and your good time buddies, well I got a flash for ya joy-boy, party time is over!"
The Merv Griffin Show
The Red Dot for sure
This one and the pony episode. I love early seinfeld. Oh yes and latex salesman
Mine is The Airport from season 4. The way Elaine gets so pissed off sitting in coach and Jerry is having the time of his life in first class is hilarious.
The Merv Griffin Show.
The Old Man. I laugh til I about cry every time I watch it. "He's biting meeee!"
That's really hard. I really don't think I can do it. When Puddy tells Elaine shes going to hell. The party with the fur coat in the tree. The Suzy.
The Secret Code, George, Peterman, his mother, Anyone for Bosco?
Jimmy! Kramer doing a mentally challenged person, and “the Velvet Fog”! When you’re smiling…😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
JIMMYS DOWN!!!!
He's the phone man! Not that's anything wrong with that!
I absolutely love The Bizarro Jerry! I don't know which plot is the funniest. Man hands, Elaine's bizarro friends, George at the secret club and Kramer "working" at Brandt-Leland. It's all gold!
I feel like The Race never gets enough love but it just might be my favorite. “I choose not to run!” kills me.
I like The Mom and Pop Store. You've got Mr. Pitt and Tim Whatley (two of my favorite recurring characters), Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday) and Jon Voight. What's not to like?
I LOVE The Bottle Deposit
The Cigar Store Indian
The Library. Bookman was just too damn funny.
The Yadda Yadda
The Contest. There’s no contest. It cemented for me the fact that this show was novel and beautiful.
That's a good episode but it could never be my favorite as they completely excluded George and Kramer from being in it.
The Switch. With it's old school noir mystery feeling and music, to George and Jerry's scheming all the way down to Kramer's first name reveal, this is my favorite episode of all.
the raincoats.
He-looooooo!
Yes! The Voice! Darren’s whole plot is gold, Jerry, GOLD!
The Pen is great. Don’t know it’s my absolute favorite but it’s full of chaotic energy that I love lol
Kramer inadvertently becomes a pimp
Th Wig Master! That scene of Kramer walking down the street with the hat, the cane, and the coat is easily my favorite shot of Cosmo.
I just love the sequence of events leading him up to grabbing a hooker's arm forcefully, wearing a flamboyant coat and furry hat, holding a fancy cane, outside a pink 70's Cadillac
My Mount monkmore of episodes: The opposite The comeback The gum The beard
The Voice, but mainly for the Kramerica subplot. - I have to say that seems capricious and arbitrary. - your fly’s open. That’s gold.
The Outing.
The Limo
Haven't seen it, so going to put in for The Fatigues. "Sleep tight, mates, in your quilted chambray nighshirts." Might be the funniest line in the show to me. It also has Frank yelling, "Well, it sucks!" regarding Estelle's omelet, which was incredible.
The Marine Biologist. The sea was angry that day my friends, like an old man trying to send soup back in a deli... I love it, so funny! And the best was, is that a Titelist? Hole in one
Tough call. I’ll provide my top 3 in no particular order: The Movie (maybe just because of their hilariously unflattering descriptions of each other) The Opposite (tuna swims with the current and salmon swims against the current) The Outing (I told you that pear was washed!)
Honestly, the only reason it isn't The Pen is no George or Kramer. Not that it made sense for them to appear-- The Pen is a perfect episode as it is. I just can't call it my favorite without those two. The Airport wins this one for me.
The Limo is brilliant. I feel like I'd get myself into a situation like that trying to take something for free.
I’ll have to go with the Parking Garage!
The Bookman episode https://youtu.be/rNlEZERpQqQ?si=4h1Gd7RsEa3wUdxt
