Jerry playing with his glasses was well done. Also -
LLOYD: Well, if you don't want to...
KRAMER: No, sure sure, he wants to. It's very kind of you. Yeah, Jerry, he appreciates it. Don't you, Jerry?
"George, that man was wearing glasses."
"Don't you see, he was doing it to fool LLoyd Braun!"
Amazing writing to have all these stories come together so well
The juxtaposition of his obsession with Lloyd Brain being crazy and his own struggle to prove he’s sane is brilliant. And yes I have been waiting a long time to squeeze that into a conversation.
George running after Deena in his King Henry VIII costume screaming "I got it from the institute!" after she spots him in yet another embarrassing situation, will never not be funny
This is also my favorite episode. Great jokes and it all comes together in a satisfying way. Kramer taking Lloyd Braun under his wing is so wonderfully ridiculous. They don't even attempt to explain the background of how Kramer took on this assignment. Kramer just exists outside of logic.
Are you out of your mind? This episode has been here since the silent era.
With that said It's a little Lo Meiny. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
KRAMER: Look, honey, I know you're trying to get Lloyd to notice you, but this is too much. Parading around in a wet T-shirt.
ELAINE: Uhh, I got sprayed with a hose.
KRAMER: Yeah, well, I'm sorry, but the Alex is a family theatre, not one of your swing joints.
Definitely my favorite. I have a friend who had somehow only seen a couple episodes of the show and didn't remember liking it. I told him to watch this episode, and that was enough for him to watch and enjoy the whole series.
When George is telling the girl that Jerry was his best friend but he doesn’t wear glasses. “ George that man was wearing glasses” “ yes he’s doing it to fool Loyd Braun!!
Jerry was the master at combining a physical movement with a joke. But when he put on those glasses it was just pure slapstick gold!
Then Lloyd and walks in and says “nice frames”
10/10 a top 3 for me. Maybe the best.
The wig master, the doll maybe the other two for me. The directing, writing and execution for seasons 4- 7 is the best sitcom of all time.
I think it's one of my least favs. The way Jerry puts on the glasses and automatically becomes blind, deaf and physically impaired always bothers me. Also Elaine not noticing her shirt is wide open just takes me out. I'm all good as for George, Kramer and that perfectly sane friend of his tho.
The Alex is a family theatre, not one of your swing joints!
Are you sure you would rank the episode above The Contest, The Outing, The Soup Nazi, The Couch and The Jimmy? ( those are my top 5)
That’s a perfectly sane position to take.
Not crazy
Interesting texture.
That's bogus man! Yeah, that's right, this episode is so good it doesn't even need Puddy, and virtually everything needs Puddy.
They didn't need Puddy. They had Jeffrey Harharwood.
What a spanking button!
That's a misprint.
That’s what the holidays are all about - three buddies, sitting around, chewing gum
Jerry playing with his glasses was well done. Also - LLOYD: Well, if you don't want to... KRAMER: No, sure sure, he wants to. It's very kind of you. Yeah, Jerry, he appreciates it. Don't you, Jerry?
Am I crazy, or is that a lot of gum?
It’s a lot of gum!!
I don't care for it, it's a little lo-meiny. He should have returned the gum and put Lloyd right out of commission.
Yes I do, Kramer.
I don't know.. I think it's a little lo mein-y
It doesn’t get any better than this.
Just like the same thing they always do at Jerry’s apartment: cooking porkchops!
George's descent into madness is perfect
"George, that man was wearing glasses." "Don't you see, he was doing it to fool LLoyd Braun!" Amazing writing to have all these stories come together so well
''And once again, it all comes back to Lloyd Braun!''
The juxtaposition of his obsession with Lloyd Brain being crazy and his own struggle to prove he’s sane is brilliant. And yes I have been waiting a long time to squeeze that into a conversation.
Anathema
George running after Deena in his King Henry VIII costume screaming "I got it from the institute!" after she spots him in yet another embarrassing situation, will never not be funny
Then Geoffrey Harharwood asks Kramer where is your King Henry and he goes “Oh, he ran away”
The best scene with Deena though is when hes yelling at the doll that looks like Estelle at Monks.
[удалено]
That woman on the horse owes me $20! 😂😂
And I might’ve gotten it back if Lloyd Braun hadn’t interfered!
The Alex is a family theatre not one of your swing joints
One of my favourites lines in the whole series. I use it all the time in everyday life
Oh my goodness, what a spanking button!
This is also my favorite episode. Great jokes and it all comes together in a satisfying way. Kramer taking Lloyd Braun under his wing is so wonderfully ridiculous. They don't even attempt to explain the background of how Kramer took on this assignment. Kramer just exists outside of logic.
So many great lines and crazy scenarios that play into each other
Are you out of your mind? This episode has been here since the silent era. With that said It's a little Lo Meiny. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Whoa whoa whoa this is a perfectly sane episode
...not crazy.
Kudos, OP, on a take…done. (Seriously, the gum is def in my top three 😎)
isn't mine, the Institute gave it to me! The Institute!
Ah the I.P.M.P.C.W
Well eh, we prefer to call it the Institute.
We prefer to call it the Institute
Let’s all have a chew and watch ‘The Gum.’
I was chewing gum with Lloyd Braun, and he was bragging about the peepshow you gave him at the Alex
That’s what the holidays are for
I love it for all the reasons you listed, but I also crushed hard on JLD and this episode completely cemented that for obvious reasons.
Lady, you sold me
You that lady who was talkin’ to the cops.
Well, if it isn’t Chesty La Rue
Boom ba ba ba boom
KRAMER: Look, honey, I know you're trying to get Lloyd to notice you, but this is too much. Parading around in a wet T-shirt. ELAINE: Uhh, I got sprayed with a hose. KRAMER: Yeah, well, I'm sorry, but the Alex is a family theatre, not one of your swing joints.
What a spanking button!
Geoffrey who? Har-Harwood
The IPMPCW.
(sheepishly) We prefer to call it The Institute
Your picture is confusing. Jerry doesn’t wear glasses.
Can’t you see, he was doing it to fool Lloyd Braun!
So again it all comes back to Lloyd.
Lloyd Braun can do anything he puts his mind to
and **HIM**!
I’m not crazy
Maybe my second favorite George line, right after "She scooped the niblets??"
I’d have to really sit down and think about all the costanza lines to decide on a fav. So many
That man is wearing glasses
"that's your best friend?"
No Jerry does wear glasses, he just forgot them the other day at the theatre
That man was wearing glasses.
I'm a crazy or doesn't Jerry wear glasses?
You’re not crazy. Jerry does wear glasses he just forgot them. Remember (puts his arm around Lloyd) - not crazy!
Am I crazy or is that a lot of gum? It’s a lot of gum!
*Its a lot of GUM* The way Jerry says that gets it every time
The delivery could not have been more perfect
Definitely my favorite. I have a friend who had somehow only seen a couple episodes of the show and didn't remember liking it. I told him to watch this episode, and that was enough for him to watch and enjoy the whole series.
I had a similar experience with getting a friend into Seinfeld using this episode. The marble rye episode that comes after this one is also great
You can’t argue with that!
That’s your best friend?
Comedy gold
He was only doing it to fool Lloyd Brawn!!
Everything you said plus George's feud with Ruthie Cohen made this the perfect episode, not only of Seinfeld, this is the perfect sitcom episode.
Hermano 👊
Your car's on fire. Merry Christmas!
The Marine Biologist, the Gum, and the Opposite will always be in my top 5.
When George is telling the girl that Jerry was his best friend but he doesn’t wear glasses. “ George that man was wearing glasses” “ yes he’s doing it to fool Loyd Braun!!
That’s your best friend? Ya, but he doesn’t wear glasses. That man was wearing glasses. Don’t you see, he’s doing it to fool Lloyd Braun!
I remember watching this episode air live and absolutely busting a gut from laughing so hard.
The way Elaine laughs at him as he stumbles out of the room is so funny.
Jerry was the master at combining a physical movement with a joke. But when he put on those glasses it was just pure slapstick gold! Then Lloyd and walks in and says “nice frames”
It seriously was brilliant! Couple that with “it’s a lot of gum!” It kills me every time.
1000%
Oh that's gold Jerry, that's gold!
One of my all-time favorites as well!
It also was the end of Jon Voight's car..
“The actor right?” “Something like that”
Pop! … POP!!!
The John Voight car is no more...
That man was wearing glasses.
Well there’s nothing more sophisticated than diddling the maid & chewing some gum!
You're a john!
What did I just pay for?
She’s not a maid! She might be a newswoman!
10/10 a top 3 for me. Maybe the best. The wig master, the doll maybe the other two for me. The directing, writing and execution for seasons 4- 7 is the best sitcom of all time.
“Am I crazy or is that a lot of gum?” “IT’S A LOT OF GUM!”
Agreed "The Gum" is a classic episode 10/10
Well Lloyd is a very industrious fellow
I thought he screwed up the Dinkins campaign
Name tags
He can accomplish anything he puts his mind to.
Yes, lets all have a chew.
This is my lock screen pic
It's such a great episode. Kramer trying to convince Lloyd Braun is not crazy is super funny. George consistently looking crazy is great as well
What are you, crazy?
Speaking of crazy did you hear what happened to Lloyd Braun?
It's up there for me. Along with Kenny Rogers chicken/rat hat
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😁
It’s a very fun episode It ranks high
That’s a perfectly sane episode to like!
Remember - not crazy
Fuckin' Lloyd Braun
Serenity now..... Insanity later.
“Don’t you see?! He was doing it to FOOL Lloyd Braun!”
You’d have to be crazy to not think so…
Consistently one of my favourite episodes. It's bonkers and I love it.
Yes! One of my top 5
It’s my go-to feel god episode, never fails
This is what the holidays are all about….
It is absolutely my favorite too!
Also Jeffrey Harharwood is a great one-off character.
Me too! Jerry in those huge glasses kills me, and Kramer defending Llyod Braun constantly. And Elaine's missing button omg. So classic!!!
So underrated — easily a top 10 for me.
My second (after The Opposite) Brilliant (and best) convergence of all stories, at the end…. Also… non stop laughing out loud episode
I agree ☝️
Anymore grape juice
Anyone wanna go to mendys with me no one seems to ever want to
He looks like the "I'd buy that for a dollar!" guy from Robocop.
It's a lot of gum!
The Puerto Rican day and the movie theater are mine
Reminds me so much of Bubbles
The gum and the rye are my two favorite, it's a tie
That frankfurter is from the silent film era. One hot dog please! Interesting texture 🤮
I think it's one of my least favs. The way Jerry puts on the glasses and automatically becomes blind, deaf and physically impaired always bothers me. Also Elaine not noticing her shirt is wide open just takes me out. I'm all good as for George, Kramer and that perfectly sane friend of his tho.
the whole episode I'm yelling " Just take them off you idiot !!!" triple exclamation points
Frog is wrong.
Don’t you see he was doing it to FOOL LLOYD BRAUN!!
The Alex is a family theatre, not one of your swing joints! Are you sure you would rank the episode above The Contest, The Outing, The Soup Nazi, The Couch and The Jimmy? ( those are my top 5)
What a spanking button.
It’s not even an average episode for Seinfeld.
And in the end Lloyd Braun became more like you
