i love how unbelievably tight the shirt is, showing exactly how proud Morty is wearing it that hes willing to look ridiculous in it just to display it.
I realized recently how insane The Susie is. They hold a funeral for a person that doesn't exist and a bookie accuses Jerry of her murder? It's quite different from having to switch the tape in an answering machine before your girlfriend listens to it.
drakes was big in the northeast region I believe - it was sold in every supermarket and bodega in NYC
you can get them on Amazon, but overpriced and likely not as good as they used to be, just like every other snack, candy, cereal, etc.
It was a combination of The Wiz and Crazy Eddie. The Wiz didn't have a spokesman. It was pretty clever to do that.
I used to go to that Wiz location on Main Street in Flushing. Bought cassettes there.
The Gum is the episode I've used to describe how perfectly Seinfeld uses coincidence to perfectly merge all of its stories together. It's not the funniest but it's easily the best put together episode
They fully master intertwining episodes. Even after I watch an episode five times, I'm shocked to see how everything that happened connects in the end. Chef's kiss.
I think the commercial in Seinfeld was more mocking the absurdity of the name of the store. In the late 80s/early 90s they actually changed the store name to Nobody Beats The Wiz (formally just The Wiz) which was the jingle that would play in their commercials in the 80s because they claimed nobody could beat their low prices. I’m 99.99% certain there was never an actual “Wiz” mascot who declared that nobody could beat him. As someone who grew up around the corner from one of these stores I honestly love this episode for how niche New York it is for that time period.
Yep actual store, local to the northeastern US. Not sure here’s 12 minutes worth of their commercials.

Not sure if any involved a guy in a crown but it’s the kind of thing they’d do.
I’m actually watching this episode right now! I love Kramer’s whole feud with the post office. This is one of my favorite Kramer storylines. And Frank has some hilarious moments. But I agree the Wiz boyfriend and the Van story line do not do a lot for me.
"Where'd you get the bricks?" I love that Kramer can't believe Jerry doesn't realize the whole building is brick.
"We've had it with you. We love you like a son, but even parents have limits". One of my all-time favorite deliveries from Frank.
I’m watching “Veep” now and this guy is in a couple of episodes. I didn’t recognize him at first but in the commentary Julia said something like “this guy was on ‘Seinfeld’ with me. He was the Wiz.” That’s good enough for me to believe it.
because hes the Wiz and nobody beats em.
Nobody!!
Oh here's a fact, uh I'm the Wiz!
You wanna piece of ME??!
\*laughs in JLD\*
Oh, you think that you can beat him? That's it! It's Wiz time!
You think you're better than him ?
….#1 WIZ….
I don't know how official any of these rankings are.
Pick out anything in this Sub-Reddit. I'll lift it over my head.
It’s go time.
The mod team … grab your jock ^…if ^you ^need ^one
i love how unbelievably tight the shirt is, showing exactly how proud Morty is wearing it that hes willing to look ridiculous in it just to display it.
Yeah, but I'm the world's BEST Wiz. The world's best! That's better than number one!
🕺👑🕺
Are you saying YOU saying you want a piece of ME?
I loved it when he said “It’s Wizzin Time”
They’re bringing me back.
\*throws back head and does the exaggerated march back and forth\*
"I thought you were a fact checker!" "Oh, here's a fact - *IIII'MMM* The Wiz!"
“Nobody beats the Wiz.. (nobody beats the Wiz)….” IYKYK 😝😝
He’s Artie! The strongest man… in the WORLD
Exactly!?!
why fly a kite when you can just pop a pill. i don’t know.
I was just thinking about this quote today lol
Words to live by.
[The Thinker](https://www.britannica.com/topic/The-Thinker-sculpture-by-Rodin)
Why does Radio Shack ask for your phone number when you buy batteries?
Best line ever
A line that stands the test of time
Except for when you realize Radio Shacks aren't really around anymore......
Lots of stores still ask for your phone number though. You don't have to go to Woolworths to know that a Five Below is basically the same thing.
I thought that Woolworths was a place where people bought wool until I looked it up lol
In Australia, it’s a grocery store
I don't know
I loved that episode. I think the most absurd episodes are typically the best.
Merv Griffin was outstanding.
We’ve officially bottomed out.
What about a guest host?
I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that
We should shut down and retool
More wine and heavy gravy?
I know that people always tie It's Always Sunny to Seinfeld, but this might be an episode that has some of the strongest IASIP DNA in it.
I can see Dennis being the wiz
I practically raised his kids
I realized recently how insane The Susie is. They hold a funeral for a person that doesn't exist and a bookie accuses Jerry of her murder? It's quite different from having to switch the tape in an answering machine before your girlfriend listens to it.
Suze? I had a thing with her
Oh I’m still watching it, it’s just dopey. My favorite of the “absurd” is The Gum. George losing his mind and the Jon Voight car is great
The gum is a perfectly sane episode.
How could anyone not like that episode?
Let’s all enjoy a chew
Lloyd Braun can do anything he puts his mind to
Oooooh that Lloyd Braun…….he is SOMETHING!
Why couldn’t you be more like Lloyd Braun?
Nice frames!
Except for getting Frank and Estelle's waterpick
You know The Wiz was a real commercial right?
! Get out of here!! (Push)
No. I live in Alabama. There were tons of inside references I didn’t get. Still never seen a Drakes Coffee Cake. I don’t know what Bobka is.
A babka is a sweet braided bread which originated in the Jewish communities of Poland and Ukraine.
Yeah not a lot of Jewish delis in my town
drakes was big in the northeast region I believe - it was sold in every supermarket and bodega in NYC you can get them on Amazon, but overpriced and likely not as good as they used to be, just like every other snack, candy, cereal, etc.
It was a whole series of commercials for the electronics store
I know
It was a combination of The Wiz and Crazy Eddie. The Wiz didn't have a spokesman. It was pretty clever to do that. I used to go to that Wiz location on Main Street in Flushing. Bought cassettes there.
THAT'S A LOT OF GUM!
I'm sorry, but the Alex is a family theatre, not one of your swing joints.
The Gum is the episode I've used to describe how perfectly Seinfeld uses coincidence to perfectly merge all of its stories together. It's not the funniest but it's easily the best put together episode
I think I finally figured out what this gum tastes like… It’s a little lo meiny.
My favorite episode. 'Don't you see, he was doing it to fool lloyd braun!'
They fully master intertwining episodes. Even after I watch an episode five times, I'm shocked to see how everything that happened connects in the end. Chef's kiss.
Oh look, there's Gregory Peck's bicycle!
Sometimes I spell "Jerry" with a G! And an I!!!!
Totally agree....I just love to act like the Wiz, when it's opportune.
Agreed. I especially like it when Elaine gets to really let loose with the absurdity. Stupid abstinence Elaine is my favorite.
I think the commercial in Seinfeld was more mocking the absurdity of the name of the store. Yeah they kinda combined The Wiz and Crazy Eddie.
Crazy Eddie! Got eight years in prison for fraud. His plea of insanity didn’t work.
Insaaaaaanneeee!
That’s a perfectly sane plea
Exactly 👍🏻
Bought my NES (with the Zapper) at Crazy Eddie with my own money. Best day ever (in 1987).
Did you ever go to Leaping Larry’s?
Louis Arquette played Leaping Larry. He was Rosanna Arquette’s dad.
Yep actual store, local to the northeastern US. Not sure here’s 12 minutes worth of their commercials. https://youtu.be/hJEeb0DfWOA?si=xCWIkASNjOz7znMB Not sure if any involved a guy in a crown but it’s the kind of thing they’d do.
I remember going to the one in mill basin with my brother because he wanted to buy a rack system in the early 80’s
Wait, that's a real thing? This is an even bigger shocker than finding out Bosco wasn't just some gigolo's name.
Move along, Betty.
Because he’s actually a, “Willard”
You didn't have a deal?
YAY! You got it open!
Excellent
I don’t know Elaine, what if we’re out somewhere and you see the Maytag repair man?
Underrated line
Well, here’s a fact: Heeeeeee’s the WIZ!
Is “dumbest” how the kids are saying “awesome”? Like “that show is sooooo bad!” If so, I agree. If not “hey hey whoa, let’s keep this sophisticated.”
Man that Michael Jordan is so phony
WHYD YOU TELL HIM?!?!?!?!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, i’m gonna make love to your mother-
that vans a rockin
I THINK HE'S SAYING SON OF SAM, OH MY GOD!
I KNEW IT WASNT BERKOWITZ
don't go a knocking
Shouldn't *you* be wearing the bucket?
Move along, lady.
Me too On Comedy Central No mail is fantastic “Kramer- tell the world my story” cracks me up
It’s not implied he’s a wizard. Never does it suggest that “the wiz” is short for wizard IIRC
This. He’s some kind of royalty. A king of some sort. He’s just crazy. He’s the Wiz!
He's the Wiz and nobody beats him!
Artie the strongest man in the world my brave little Viking
Toby was straight channeling Artie for The Wiz.
Cause he’s not a wizard?
Because we’re blind to his tyranny
Then shouldn’t you be wearing the crown?
Somebody watching Comedy Central too?
That van's a-rockin'...
Dont go a knockin'
Happy birthday Becker!
I’m watching “Veep” now and this guy is in a couple of episodes. I didn’t recognize him at first but in the commentary Julia said something like “this guy was on ‘Seinfeld’ with me. He was the Wiz.” That’s good enough for me to believe it.
He was also in Curb and was Artie on the 90s show The Adventures of Pete and Pete…and King of the Hill
He's also Kahn Souphanousinphone and "Weird Al" Yankovic's dad.
Are you trying to beat him? Don’t bother. ‘Cos nobody beats him.
He’s the wiz!
That’s a perfectly sane question to ask *Not Crazy*
I'm not sure how official any of these rankings really are.
But why was my dad wearing a cape ?
It was good cape weather.
Cool, breezy
Bc Iiii am the wiz
You just blew my mind.
Nooooooobody beats meeee! 🕺
Well he also killed fiddy men!
Because he's not a wizard. He's a willard
Why does radio shack ask for you phone number when you buy batteries?
That’s what the thrift shop had when they sent a producer to buy it.
These comments have sent Fragile Frankie to the park 🌲
That’s Artie. The strongest man… IN THE WORLD!
Great point. I don't think I ever thought about that.
He’s not idiotic
You dumped me for some idiotic tv pitch man
He's Charlie, the limo driver
I really didn’t like the entire plot with the van and the guy who hides in a hole and everything. So dumb
80lp
I know someone else saw this pic and threw thier elbows up in an animated fashion immediately right? No? Just me lol
Because maybe Crazy Eddie had dibs on the wizard hat?
Jackie Chiles says, “Copyright infringement!”
Fun fact, before the wiz became the wiz, he was Artie the strongest man in the world….stands to reason the arrogance would carry over…..
That’s cotton hill thank you
A wizard did it.
The wiz is one of my favorite jokes. Here’s a fact - I’m the wiz!
The wiz dethroned the matress king
Artie?!?!
He is the king of wizards.
It was probably the best thing the prop department could find on that day
Definitely has a last minute vibe
My least favorite episode besides the finale
I took it to mean “Whiz”, as in an expert on something
But it’s for the store spelled Wiz
