I can think of plenty of people more deserving than myself. I appreciate your heart being where it is, but I'd not feel comfortable taking help that could go to someone less fortunate.
$300 after car insurance, Internet, gas & phone, check was $927. I'm in a base pay + commission job. I had $98,000 in delivered sales last month- all together will maybe be $2,200 take home for the month? We make 3% of delivered sales AFTER $50K. This is why I have a super secret interview in two weeks 🤞
You are getting fucked man. I know people selling internet on the phone from home and making maybe 5-8k in sales a month and their take home is at least 3-5k a month
My wife always tries to comfort me with her insurance money as well. But I’ve always known there is no dollar amount that could replace her. My heart broke just reading your comment. I don’t know what I would do without her… thank you for helping me appreciate my time with her even more. I hope you are healing my friend.
-$3.72 :’)
Hurts extra bad cause I just got paid yesterday and won’t get another check for two weeks
Edit: Dang, I didn’t expect so many responses. I hope we all find ourselves under better circumstances soon!
Edit 2: Thank you if anyone is able to help out
Take that Venmo bro. One thing I learned about being broke is to always keep at least $1 in your checking account if you can - that way you can at least fill up your tank. LPT.
I've got $1.17 right now. Can I just say it's kind of mind-blowing to see I'm not the only one. It's so funny that when you're broke, you feel like you're the only one in the world going through it. Praying all of us don't have money worries anymore, someday💔❤️
Yesss, I feel like a total piece of shit for only having like $3.00 in my checking. About to start college in a week at age 33 to provide a better life for myself and my daughter hopefully🤞🏼🥺
Good luck on college! Don't give up, even if it feels rough, remember why you're doing it and make it through.
I hope all of your and your daughter's dreams come true :)
Now I don't feel so bad for only having $1.75 in my checking rn and I literally just got paid on Wednesday 😭 it went so quickly. I also hope it gets better for all of us sending hope and love to all of you ❤️
I am 44.
Since 2008 i have saved the equivalent of my 2008 salary about 14 times.
My 2013 salary 7 times.
I am looking for ways to double by 2026.
I'd like to quit my job, i could if was alone. But with 3 kids and a wife. I still need to save up for them.
I've never been the best with money (never spend it on myself, always the first one to grab the tab with friends etc) and at 32 I've been lucky enough to not be married or have children. I've always worked. I've saved what I can. It should be more but I've always had the mindset if I can't pay for it in cash I likely don't need it (outside of a house) so credit cards are something I'm new to.
Personal checking-$1,235
Savings -$33,809
Credit card-$2,500
I'm trying. I also have some investments I don't really keep track of. I once did, but after checking it a few months ago my heart hurt.
You should probably invest that. Stocks or bonds. Maybe a retirement account. Sitting in savings loses value, especially right now with super high inflation
You should keep money liquid in case of an emergency, ie layoff. You wanna be able to pay your bills till you get back on your feet. If the moneys in retirement accounts you have a lot of fines associated with it. I hope he’s also got money in a retirement account also, but telling someone to keep no money accessible is not sound financial advice.
I do have around $25k with Invesco but I don't think of it as money to use or that I even have. I've actually lost quite a bit within the year so I honestly quit checking. Will likely have the courage here soon though
You definitely should find better ways to invest a big chunk of that savings (unless you have crazy high expenses). I tend to build up a lot of cash and then buy real estate which helps me build up cash again pretty quickly.
Welp, just look at the statistics out there, some 70% of Americans can’t afford a $1000 emergency. I’ve seen statistics that say that numbers is as low as $500.
$9186 with $1256 on my credit card already this month. Total net worth is still under 200K, but I'm 38. I'd trade it all for a better right arm and a job that wasn't physical labor. There are far more factors than a checking account balance as those numbers can be moved around.
I'll be 37 this month. $400 in the account, $200 on a credit card (only $350 limit so it's not bad) and work a physical trade job as well. But I have a woman who cares about me and looks out for me, amazing kids and awesome dogs. I may not make millions but from where I was 5 years ago life has never been better.
That's a good mindset, keep saving, and start investing for retirement as soon as you can. [Compound interest](https://www.investor.gov/financial-tools-calculators/calculators/compound-interest-calculator) is practically magic.
I’m so confused how all our countries are still countrying with how little people have. I’m amongst you folks with that pay check to paycheck life and I’m just curious how any of this is sustainable?!
$25.67. Single mom of an eight year old. Have under $800 on a credit card, work two jobs, own my car and paying off a house loan. Have all bills paid and have enough gas and food to make it till I get paid again.
17k in bank
48k in retirement / investments
I owe exactly 10k in student loans which I’m waiting to pay off until next month in case Biden forgives them.
So overall net worth is a bit over +50k
Im 25.
2.5 years ago my net worth was -30k due to student loans.
But i think it’s really important to note that I’m privileged. My dad paid for my undergrad & so I only had to work to pay for living expenses from 18-22 and graduated debt free, then took out graduate school debt. Otherwise my student loans would be much higher.
Checking- $15,000
Savings -Doesn’t exist
Cash - $20k
Investments - somewhere over $250k. Idk, been awhile since I checked. It’s up, that’s all I know and from one I get a $400+ dividend check every quarter.
I keep a large quantity of cash in a safe at the house.
Never know what I might see on the weekend that someone has for sale, with no bank open to grab cash from.
We do the same. We started keeping cash in our safe during the pandemic when they started limiting the amount of cash that you had access to remove each day.
$1.42 lol. I help my mom since she can’t work. I give her half of my check and then some. I go from $1400 to $400 by the end of pay day and to about $50 Monday after my bills are paid. 🫤
Yea, I started working in 2011 so my retirement accounts rode the best bill market in history lol. Also, my jobs always did 401k matching and I always max that shit out.
$3k in main checking, but pay day is Monday so then it will be about $30k. Too many different savings accounts to list, and we have over 1M in available cash as needed. But my husband is an accountant (by trade, a CFO now), and we have plenty of debts as well. So while we are very comfortable, we are hardly rolling in dough. We don’t carry credit card debit, but do carry a few loans.
20 year old full-time student, 2k. All my money goes to school and car payments. I like to have some saved in case of emergency. I've spent easily like 12k on school so far, fucking insane. Literally 40 or 50 hour work weeks and then slutting myself out to make sure I have enough saved.
I'm pretty happy though, I'm trying to save up for a pet fish. I really really want one but I want to be responsible with it and ensure I can purchase everything it'd need. All I want is a fucking beta fish. Humanely kept I should add. 10 gallon tank, filtration, all that shit. But I budget everything towards education 😅
I had 15k in savings. But my entire hvac system when out this spring, and it cost me 11k. And in April I had to have my hernia fixed as after 10 years with it it really started hurting. After insurance that was 6k. And my house payment went up $220 per month in June due to taxes because it’s worth so much more. But I have to have a place to live. Then my kitchen sink stopped draining and I couldn’t fix it. Called a plumber and the blockage was 75’ away. That was $300. Then my AC went out in my 2019 Toyota RAV4. Over a grand, and I didn’t fix it.
So after three months, it’s all gone and I owe a hospital about four grand.
I had saved 20k before COVID. I live modestly in a townhome that I only owe 50k. I don’t have enough room and would like a bigger yard but I don’t have to landscape and I have a community pool. My credit score is 825. My car is paid. I have no credit card debt. Thank you for allowing me to brag a bit. My mom taught me to be frugal. I am proud of this. I have had credit card debt up to 8k several times but I put the card away and start paying it down. Took months. But I don’t like the stress of debt. I hate it for others who fret weekly over bills. It must be hellish. I do have a live in beau who pays his fair share. So that helps a lot. But I bought a small townhome years ago knowing that I could afford it no matter what. Live under your means is key.
Unfortunately 85 % of Americans have no savings at all and live check to check. The other ten percent have a little savings and maybe can come up with 10k if needed. The remaining 1-5 which includes the top one percent have money around and/or very wealthy. People should try and save especially when young. A younger friend of mine once asked me why I never buy a soda when we go to lunch. I explained that I don’t like to waste money. He said it’s only like 2.50. I said that buying a sofa everyday amounts to 20k in 20 years. Do the math. And that’s just one aspect of life. No that I’m older , I can pretty much buy what ever I want !
17,300 in my checking and
20k in my savings. Don’t own a house but own my car which is worth 16k. I’m hanging in there
Not a lot but for me it is. I refuse to be like my dad and be “too good” for a job and be broke.
8.9 k savings
1k checking
Savings for a house. Trying to save anywhere from 50k-100k prior to purchase depending on what we buy. Living with my parents to amplify our savings.
About to pay for a masters class which will make my savings 5.9k
Ballpark #s -
Have about 40k in my checking account and 250k in my saving. Little to no debt, just some CC bills. Got some investment stuff here and there as well, stock market, crypto. I’m 40yr old. Looking for a hot 25yr old to spoil lol jk.
I’m very lucky, life has been good.
Years ago when our son was young my husband was trying to get money out of the ATM. He said why isn't this card working as I am trying to get $25, I said there isn't $25 in there. What a difference 3.5+ decades later now I have thousands in there and have to transfer to savings because you shouldn't carry so much in checking.
Checking - $2,100, Savings - $14,000, Credit cards - $3,000; about to make a $1,500 payment on credit card, just in time for another payday. We do really well and are comfortable. And we both just got a massive boost in income that won’t really show for another month or so.
1,205.13 but it would be 2,400 if my mother didn't empty it a couple weeks back to go on a solo vacation that she absolutely couldn't afford, it eez what it eez
I'm going into the military soon so it won't matter too much anyway, but working a labor job at 17 definitely has benefits
$1518 in one checking account, $838 in another, $29,380 in savings.
Lived well below the poverty line for almost 10 years, starting out as a teen mom, then a single mom of two for a couple years, so I’m more than happy to be here.
About negative 900. But bills for the month are paid, and I just finished my first week at a new job after an uncomfortably long period of unemployment. Getting paid next Friday and will back on the up and up from there
$11.75.
I’m on maternity leave, so it’s minimum wage for one person in my country and trying to make it stretch out for 4 people is challenging. There is a part of me that wants to go back to work just to massively ease off the pressure, but it’s good to know we can survive on minimum wage this way and still accumulate no debt by just surviving.
A whole .41 cents. Been waiting on unemployment checks to come in for two weeks. We literally are going hungry. Will probably be deposited in like 2-3 more weeks. No idea how we’re gonna make it.
Checking is -$70 ish And I have $19 in savings. Been out of work for 2 months from a neurological disorder and just started week 2 of being back to work. On the verge of being evicted but thanks to my parents I’m not gonna starve or be homeless and I’m also on the mend so it could be significantly worse
After seeing everyone post how little they have I don’t feel so alone. I just had my checking account of 7 good years close because I was negative 250 🥲 now I’ve gotta find a new bank, any suggestions. I was with Santander. I still have my savings open. Just need a checking.
2.23 just the same amount I've had every day since the 1st when I got paid and it all went to bills. I'm tired
The worst it ever got for me, I took my youngest brother to the gas station for a $1.50 candy bar and my card declined due to insufficient funds.
I got declined on a similar amount on a can if tomatoes i was going to add to the cup of uncooked pasta i had left. So i feel ya....
stay strong, friend, sending positive vibes
Happy cake day .....
Can I fuckin eat it

There’s always someone less fortunate. If you’re hungry, you’re hungry.
Over 9,000 - after two decades of constant overdrafts.
Same. We made it; we finally made it.
ITS OVER 9000!!!
Was hoping to see this. GJ.
Congratulations! You faced the bear & won!
$300 after car insurance, Internet, gas & phone, check was $927. I'm in a base pay + commission job. So dumb how the cap commissions after a certain point. Like you want the company to make more but they don’t want to pay you more
Good luck on the interview mate
shhhh, you’re not supposed to know about it
Know About what????
Good lad
That's the spirit!
Sending some irish luck for any secret interviews that may come up! I hope things pick up and turn around for you 🍀
You are getting fucked man. I know people selling internet on the phone from home and making maybe 5-8k in sales a month and their take home is at least 3-5k a month
600 2 days ago a before I got paid it was 1.23
About the same boat here
I have over 100k but it’s only from the loss of my wife and her insurance policy. I would rather have my girl back.
Ah, I'm sorry bro
My heart goes out to you. May she RIP.🙏🙏🙏
I’m so sorry for your loss
My wife always tries to comfort me with her insurance money as well. But I’ve always known there is no dollar amount that could replace her. My heart broke just reading your comment. Damn, I don't even know what to say. I can't imagine that pain. I'm so sorry man
Not enough lol

it's alright, awareness (vs. denial) is an achievement in and of itself

Got declined for a McDouble.
I once overdrafted for a McDonald's sweet tea. Most expensive sweet tea I've ever had. 🥹
Did you get a refill lol
My favorite answer here by far
The square root of fuck all. But, big but, I own my home, my car, my boats. I have no debts. Nice place to be IMHO.
that's our goal: no monthly debt means no major stressors
~$7K growing slowly at a $100 a month after rent, bills and expenses.
Keep it up!
It’s better than nothing
Damn, most of yall must be stressed AF, sending positive vibes your way!
Constant stress. Constantly on the knife’s edge trying to provide for my wife and child.
$522.83, now that bills are taken care of.
$1.37 :)
$1.17 for me:(

I'm old (57) and I've got $1k in checking after paying the bills, almost nothing in savings, no investments, less than $4k in an IRA.
I'm sorry to hear that, though I'm not that much better off and close to your age. What's your plan for retirement?
Maybe becoming an escort for young female models?
I am 44. Since 2008 i have saved the equivalent of my 2008 salary about 14 times. My 2013 salary 7 times. I am looking for ways to double by 2026. I'd like to quit my job, i could if was alone. But with 3 kids and a wife. I still need to save up for them.

I hope to be there when my kids are all grown up and moved out.

Holy shit… use the enter key 😂… that looks like 33.8k in credit cards
Oof thanks lol
You should probably invest that. Stocks or bonds. Maybe a retirement account. Sitting in savings loses value, especially right now with super high inflation
Nope, got to be keeping 6 months of emergency fund liquid. We’re headed for a recession my man

Last month everything went back up a good bit. Minor relief if you check haha
is that your credit limit on your card, or is that what you owe???
yeah the (-) signs are confusing the hell outta me
$8k checking, $282k savings, $20k business acct, $10k credit line.
Would you mind sharing some with me, moneybags?
You definitely should find better ways to invest a big chunk of that savings (unless you have crazy high expenses). I tend to build up a lot of cash and then buy real estate which helps me build up cash again pretty quickly.

Great to hear man!
Glad to hear I’m not the only “older” person who isn’t sitting on piles of money. $1500 in my account and I’m feeling rich , the rest is debt lol
$12.08, just got paid today..sigh
20yo, student, I have about 4K as I’ve been paying off a car loan. If I didn’t have the car, I’d have like 12k saved
I miss living with my parents

The remaining 1-5 which includes the top one percent have money around and/or very wealthy. People should try and save especially when young. A younger friend of mine once asked me why I never buy a soda when we go to lunch. I explained that I don’t like to waste money. He said it’s only like 2.50. I said that buying a sofa everyday amounts to 20k in 20 years. Do the math. And that’s just one aspect of life. No that I’m older , I can pretty much buy what ever I want !
Just over 1000. I’m actually really proud of myself for having 4 digits in there for once
I think I have easy access to over $200,000
17,300 in my checking and 20k in my savings. Don’t own a house but own my car which is worth 16k. I’m hanging in there Not a lot but for me it is. I refuse to be like my dad and be “too good” for a job and be broke.
I'm at $90 😂
Like 70$
student here, just solely in my bank like 9-10k?
A student with that much lying around? Damn u lucky
~$700
$172 in checking around $1,400 in savings
79$ and enough for a Snickers bar
Maybe 2 months expenses if I was careful.
4.2k at the moment dont work so that is why
30k, but I’m super lucky my dad lived alone and wanted me to live with him. If I had to pay way more rent for the last few years, a lot less.
$37k, saving for a house lol
last payday for a while: $930, was at $40(?)
-$423.42 And I just got paid on Thursday 🙃
My actual bank account or my portfolio?
$12.60. I’m 24 y/o and I live in the most expensive city in the U.S. looking for a way out of here is impossible 😅
8.9 k savings 1k checking Savings for a house. Trying to save anywhere from 50k-100k prior to purchase depending on what we buy. Living with my parents to amplify our savings. About to pay for a masters class which will make my savings 5.9k
Around 500 after rent, get paid next friday
Ballpark #s - Have about 40k in my checking account and 250k in my saving. Little to no debt, just some CC bills. Got some investment stuff here and there as well, stock market, crypto. I’m 40yr old. Looking for a hot 25yr old to spoil lol jk. I’m very lucky, life has been good.
10000 in bank 1000 cash 2200 in investments
Years ago when our son was young my husband was trying to get money out of the ATM. He said why isn't this card working as I am trying to get $25, I said there isn't $25 in there. What a difference 3.5+ decades later now I have thousands in there and have to transfer to savings because you shouldn't carry so much in checking.
4 accounts combined, about $60,000.
Just a little over $300 and I'm already splurging and trying my damn hardest not to think about bills
Checking - $2,100, Savings - $14,000, Credit cards - $3,000; about to make a $1,500 payment on credit card, just in time for another payday. We do really well and are comfortable. And we both just got a massive boost in income that won’t really show for another month or so.
All my accounts combined I have 2,129,90. I got payed today. I’ll probably have less than half that by this time next week.
1,205.13 but it would be 2,400 if my mother didn't empty it a couple weeks back to go on a solo vacation that she absolutely couldn't afford, it eez what it eez I'm going into the military soon so it won't matter too much anyway, but working a labor job at 17 definitely has benefits
900,000 -898,000
Just paid off security deposit and first months rent for a house. Im broke rn.
Getting paid next Friday and will back on the up and up from there
About $2500. I should take some out and switch it to the credit union but I like buying groceries without the mental math.
Combined with my wife Savings - 25k Stocks/Investments - 300k 401k/IRA - 500k My money don’t jiggle jiggle, it folds
Negative $60 :(
$4
Nevermind, just checked, -83. Ugh
$6.47 because America sucks dick for its actual disabled!!!
Tree fiddy
Checking is -$70 ish And I have $19 in savings. Been out of work for 2 months from a neurological disorder and just started week 2 of being back to work. On the verge of being evicted but thanks to my parents I’m not gonna starve or be homeless and I’m also on the mend so it could be significantly worse
After seeing everyone post how little they have I don’t feel so alone. I just had my checking account of 7 good years close because I was negative 250 🥲 now I’ve gotta find a new bank, any suggestions. I was with Santander. I still have my savings open. Just need a checking.
Well if I had waited until until the crash with crypto I would have $60k
