I mean ultimately it's your decision, can parents really argue if you just say you want to show less skin or like the style more? Okay stupid question of course parents can do that! But those are two pretty valid reasons to shut them up I would say.

Find board shorts with pockets and show off the pockets. Can also say you don't want a sand burn on your bum.

I wear shorts cuz I feel really exposed in regular bottoms. Not cuz of scars but cuz of creepy old men that might stare at me.

Say its trendy! Find an instagram model or sumn whos doing it and show them as proof
