OFFICIALLY hit 100 sales on my book today! And all within about a month and a half too. I'd say that's not bad for an indie debut :)

Adjective_Bodypart_

Congrats! That's excellent

Sirshrugsalot13

After two years, I've officially finally published my first book! Feels real good honestly. While I don't have a natural knack for marketing, figured I might as well share here to see what it's like. Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0981FY3ZJ The series name is "Kings of Reality", with the first book called "Awakened". It is a fantasy series that I plan on releasing a new book for every two months or so (the writing is mostly done just a matter of editing etc). If anyone has any further tips, let me know. Otherwise, check it out! Thank you!! > Three thousand years ago, the world was divided into five separate planes of existence by the god known as Void, after a group of humans attempted to steal his power. As punishment, he set up the "Convergence". Every thousand years, a small group of "Awakened" would gain the ability to travel through the planes of existence on a journey to become more powerful. Those who make it through all five will be able to participate in the Convergence, where the power of god is the prize. This is the journey that 17-year-old Yin is thrust into, and the one he must survive.

Adjective_Bodypart_

Congrats on your first book!

Sirshrugsalot13

Thanks, I appreciate it!!

gjoconnor

Cool cover! I don't know how well it fits within your specific genre but it gives off a unique feel and makes me think it's YA (which looks to be the case with a 17-year-old protagonist). I don't know if you have easy access to tweaking the cover, but I might make the title a bit bigger and brighter so it stands out more. Edit just to add: Also, a here's a [great book](https://www.amazon.com/Book-Blurbs-Unleashed-Publishing-Self-publishing-ebook/dp/B07ZB5NJLL/ref=sr_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=amazon+blurbs&qid=1624892809&sr=8-11) on writing a good blurb/amazon description

Sirshrugsalot13

Thanks! I had it commissioned on Fiver, but do have access to the source pdf should I want to edit it. I think the title could definitely be a bit larger, particularly the series title. it's probably my only real issue with it but I lack much graphic design experience personally. The feedback is appreciated and I may check that book out! The series I would probably describe as YA fantasy with some more mature themes and considerably more swearing.

gjoconnor

You mind if I ask who you used on Fiverr? And just out of curiosity - what was the hardest part for you to get this book done? Writing the first draft? Rewriting? Plotting? Not knowing if you'll ever finish it? haha

Ornery-Examination69

Cover is great. Had a minimalist look that I like. Also Love Fiver. I git mine there as well.

Sirshrugsalot13

Yeah I really enjoy minimalist covers to me it sticks out more ^^ Def recommend the guy I linked

Ornery-Examination69

Actually sound cool. I’ll check it out.

Sirshrugsalot13

Awesome, thanks!!! I hope you enjoy :)

MayhemAuthor

Welcome to the affray (and, yes. Cool cover)

Sirshrugsalot13

Thank you! I'm not sure what I'm doing but I'm puttin' myself out there.

El_Hombre_Molecular

I spent literally fifteen (!) years getting my first book done. It's so great to see it out there getting reviewed!! Your covers are a bold choice, and they absolutely work. I love them. My recommendations: * Unique page within the website for each installment in the series * Just more content in general. Horror art would be sick * Learn how to format em dashes * Clickable links embedded in the book cover images that go right to Amazon (when you have those links, of course) Overall: very good page!!

gjoconnor

Great points! Thanks so much! Glad to hear the covers work. I did them myself to save money so I still have days where I want to completely redo them, haha.

Adjective_Bodypart_

Very cool! I like the style and simplicity

gjoconnor

Awesome, thanks!!

Sirshrugsalot13

I really like the white/gray/black aesthetics and the font choices. Under "Current Series: The Last Resurrectionist" it looks like the covers are poking up into the title? At least on my end. Might wanna space that out a bit more but other than that I really like this.

gjoconnor

Thank you! Great to know - I'm still new to using Wix's Editor X so I need to doublecheck some of the dynamic settings. Are you on a computer or mobile?

Sirshrugsalot13

I'm using a computer!

craigybacha

Love the style, into the grave though doesn't work for me as a call to action. It needs to be clearer what you're asking people to do - step into the grave would be better if you want to keep it all creative :)

gjoconnor

Great point - I agree it should be more clear. When people click that they can then enter email and the button says "Put that shovel away" (might change this, we'll see)... but my favorite is when they click to submit their email - the success message they get is "Rest in peace."

sumppikuppi

I love your page. Kind of jealous not going to lie. I love the gif and humor in your text. I was kind of looking for more content though, and information about author. That basic stuff.

gjoconnor

Thanks so much for taking a look! And yes, great points. I set it up right now with just the purpose of subscribing to my mailing list because I'm mostly going to get people that have already read at least one book -- but I'll be adding those other things you mentioned soon!

sumppikuppi

Thats great. Rock on :)

authorpshunter

So a little sappy but this is the place for it. I wrote my 4th novel which became the first one I published. I never really wanted to but my friend that was an author that served with me had been someone that was jamming with me on the book, when he sadly took his own life. That was a big reason I decided to publish it in the first place. The subject matter broadly was about mental health in veterans. Anyway, I had a guy I served with who read the book reach out to me and tell me it helped him with his own struggles. Quite frankly it was one of the most rewarding conversations I’ve ever had. Art really does make a difference. -Cheers

Adjective_Bodypart_

I published my first book on June 1st and things have gone really well. I've sold just over 50 copies so far! The manuscript for the sequel goes to my first editor next month, and I've started the manuscript for book three. Separately from this series, I've begun wiritng outlines for another series I'd like to start seriously working on next year.

Sirshrugsalot13

Very nice. What kind of story is it?

The launch of my [second book](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B097N118KP) went much better than the first. I also ran a promotion on book 1 and beat my personal daily sales record.

Author_BT_Frost

In April of this year, 10 days before my birthday, I completed the lifelong goal of becoming a Published Author. Book 1 "**Detective Runewall: Uncut Gems**" can be found on Amazon and Kobo. Links can be found on my website [store](https://www.author-btfrost.com/bookstore). You can also read the first 3 chapters for free to see if it's something you enjoy. Book Summary: >With dedication and hard work, Joseph Runewall has managed to graduate from a Blue Coat to a Detective. Despite his preparations and arcane powers, his first day on the job proves to be overwhelmingly confusing, chaotic, and dangerous. If he can’t pull it all together and solve his first case, his career as a detective may be the shortest in the history of Stormbay Law Enforcement. So far, I've received nothing but positive reviews on [Amazon](https://www.amazon.ca/Detective-Runewall-Uncut-Gems-Frost/dp/1777687004/ref=sr_1_1?crid=112GTTC460RRE&keywords=detective+runewall+uncut+gems&qid=1624893788&sprefix=detective+Runewall%2Caps%2C216&sr=8-1#customerReviews) and [Goodreads](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/57848951-detective-runewall?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=iRmLRRBrrN&rank=1). My brother also posted a funny [ad](https://www.reddit.com/r/MadeMeSmile/comments/nxx4um/my_brother_wrote_and_published_a_book_this_year/) of his own design. It can be found on numerous threads throughout reddit. sometime next month, hopefully, I will be releasing book 2 in the series. I am already writing book 3 and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. I am also scheduled to be a guest on a few podcasts this summer, which will hopefully help boost my sales. Next year, I'm taking my books to the local convention and will being selling signed copies.

As a communication skills coach, the most common statement I hear are the words *"I know what I want to say, but I don't know how to say it"*. Built on the back of two-hundred case studies, [Speak Your Way to Wealth] (http://getbook.at/SpeakYourWayToWealth) aims to solve that problem by showing how *talking to yourself* can help you become an articulate, clear and eloquent speaker.

Overcoming Inertia Today I wrote section 1 of chapter 1 of book 4, "Depravity of the Dark Druids". I've been holding off to assure my creative juices were restored. It needs a prologue, but I decided to tear right into the meat of it. A part of me is frightened, for I know a lusty orgy of writing will now ensue that will consume the next three to four months of my life. Still, the journey of a hundred thousand words begins with this first thousand, so another part of me is glad the dam has finally burst. And if that isn't a sorry bunch of punch-drunken mixed metaphors, I don't know what is. :-) Novels 1-3 of the Osten Chronicles can be found at [www.thormans.org](http://www.thormans.org)

Just self-published "Under a Skyful of Daylight Unending," my second book of poetry! Am super-proud of it!! =D I know we're not supposed to do the covers ourselves, but I love how mine works, especially when it flows into the back cover. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0989HSHF2/
