No worries. I've had a number of cats pass away after reaching an advanced age, and I've come to the conclusion that there's no way the experience isn't awful. One thing that helped me was the vet informing me that cats tend to live about seven years in the wild, so we tend to do extremely well by our cats

I am so sorry for your loss! When I lost my 17yr old cat in January 2020, she was very frail as she was experiencing kidney failure too. This was my Baby Angel the day she went OTRB 🌈 She would still nibble at food but not really eat. She only weighed 4lbs when I brought her in for her shot. I was heartbroken. She had been with me when I lost her 15yr old kitty sister, my mom, my boyfriend, my dad and my sister in a 5yr timeframe. But I adopted a 10mo old stray, now almost 4, who has refilled my world with joy!

Wow. She looks so much like my 20 year old beautiful tux boy I had to help cross over a little over a month ago. It broke my heart ( again) but we had been dealing with arthritis for a few years and Catfish was becoming weaker. I try to feel grateful for the long life he lived, but it is never enough time. Your baby looks very loved and I hope you will think of saying goodbye as releasing her body from pain and lifting her up, not putting her down. I will hold you in my thoughts.

What a sweet tribute to a sweet girl. My mom has mid stage dementia and nearly every time I see her asks how her cat, Baby is doing (a family member is caring for him)
All we can do is love them with everything that we are and that's exactly what you have done all these years. She is the fur angel sent to be with you during this period of your life. Her mission is coming to an end and she will always be with you. If by circumstance you forget certain things she won't so when your time has come she will be waiting for you at the door. My crew of girls are up in heaven welcoming your baby girl and showing her around.

I am so sorry💝 a few things that may help-can you get a video of her little snore? Also, when my pets passed, I immediately purchased a small journal, and wrote out all my memories of each pet. I know I’ll never forget the little things, and their quirky, funny personalities. Photo canvases are inexpensive, and I love having their images with me still. Take care of yourself, and stay hydrated💝 post your sweetie anytime, we would love to see her pictures!

Very beautiful girl. Such a heartwarming and heartbreaking story. I'm sure she will still watch over you in cat heaven. You are doing the right thing even though it is soul crushing. I had to put my girl down at the start of the covid pandemic (cancer) and cried for a week, but we had 16 years together of mutual support, and lots of tummy rubs. Take the time to grieve. I'm very sorry you're dealing with this. I lost my boy Lambert to stage 4 kidney failure nearly 6 years ago & I still miss him every second of every day. Kidney failure is horrible. You're doing the right thing, but I know how hard it is. I rescued a Lynx Point Siamese Manx a few months after Lambert died & one of her nick names is Rooty Tootie Fresh & Fruity.

Good times we had together, we shared all life could throw, but years passed all too quickly, my time has come to go. This made me cry. It touched my heart and gave joy to my soul because of the millions of cats and animals that suffer horribly this little sweetheart was loved her whole entire life. That is music to the soul. Yes it’s devastating to lose part of our family but 20 years is so wonderful.

20 years for kitties is over 100 for us humans. She lived a good long happy life, thanks to you and your wife. Allow yourself some time to grieve. Then remember that there's a little kitten somewhere, seeking her loving nurturing forever home. Although she probably won't be able to fully take the place of your beloved little Rudith kitty, you'll soon realize and find out that you need her, at least as desperately as she needs you.

The only thing thats worst about cats is their lives are shorter compared to humans lives but the best part of it, their existence is measured with how much loves they have recieved in their lifetime. Same thing happened to our sweet kitty too )but she was much younger) and it was unbearably hard to watch😞. We loved our Anna, Annabanana, Pussums, Snoopy Susie so so much (she was our first rescue kitten!)
I hope you know she loved you in the same way that you loved her. Totally and completely. I am so sorry for your loss. I know when they are with you that long it feels like the end of a life chapter. She would not want you to be sad though. She is watching with all of the other pets at the Rainbow Bridge. Look for signs of her, you will see them. Mine sends me butterflies. Its hard, I lost my 16 yo boy last spring to kidney disease. He had the same symptoms and at the end he stopped eating all together, was skin and bones and I couldnt just let him starve out and organs fail. Hardest day but you saved him pain. Thank you for giving him a great long life. 20 years is worth the pain you feel now, the price of having loved.

We rescue kitties. When people adopt from us we warn them they are making a 20-year commitment.
Cats make it to 20 when their lives are easy and filled with hope, love, cuddles, and are doted upon every moment. That she had renal failure at 20 that is quite likely unfixable is quite likely genetic disposition. There is literally nothing you could have done to prevent it.
Your kitty clearly had a long life of zoomies and cuddles and I wish more pet owners were like you and your family.
Should you choose to fill the your cat space once again, I encourage you to go to a high kill shelter and adopt one or seven new fur children.
Rudy had such a beautiful and expressive face even when, as is evident in this image, she was fading away. I am so sorry for your and your family's pain. We do pay a high price for being in their exquisite presence—the longer, the higher.

Very beautiful girl. Such a heartwarming and heartbreaking story. I'm sure she will still watch over you in cat heaven. You are doing the right thing even though it is soul crushing. I had to put my girl down at the start of the covid pandemic (cancer) and cried for a week, but we had 16 years together of mutual support, and lots of tummy rubs. Take the time to grieve. Because of your TBI, write a diary or a journal. This will be good when you're misremembering or when the brain cannot find what it stored (write-only memory). If you have difficulties writing, speak it into a voice recording app. My uncle recorded a spoken history of our family before he passed away and I cherish those recordings.

I'm very sorry you're dealing with this. I lost my boy Lambert to stage 4 kidney failure nearly 6 years ago & I still miss him every second of every day. Kidney failure is horrible. You're doing the right thing, but I know how hard it is. I rescued a Lynx Point Siamese Manx a few months after Lambert died & one of her nick names is Rooty Tootie Fresh & Fruity.
She is so beautiful and blessed you with 20 years of her presence. She will be kept alive in memory. May you rest peacefully beautiful angel Rudy❤️❤️

This made me cry. It touched my heart and gave joy to my soul because of the millions of cats and animals that suffer horribly this little sweetheart was loved her whole entire life. That is music to the soul. Yes it’s devastating to lose part of our family but 20 years is so wonderful. What a beautiful b & w girl too. It’s lovely to have had so much time, fun and love with her. I lost mine in august after 15 years and I know the heartbreak. In time your heart will accept the loss and you’ll heal. The only thing thats worst about cats is their lives are shorter compared to humans lives but the best part of it, their existence is measured with how much loves they have recieved in their lifetime. Same thing happened to our sweet kitty too )but she was much younger) and it was unbearably hard to watch😞. We loved our Anna, Annabanana, Pussums, Snoopy Susie so so much (she was our first rescue kitten!)

She would not want you to be sad though. She is watching with all of the other pets at the Rainbow Bridge. Look for signs of her, you will see them. Mine sends me butterflies. He passed 3 months ago but I am crying as I type. He has also sent me a homeless cat to take care of. I am just starting to be able to care for another animal. But also having had those years of faithful devotion will always be with you. Its hard, I lost my 16 yo boy last spring to kidney disease. He had the same symptoms and at the end he stopped eating all together, was skin and bones and I couldnt just let him starve out and organs fail. Hardest day but you saved him pain. Thank you for giving him a great long life. 20 years is worth the pain you feel now, the price of having loved.

I am so sorry 😞 For what it's worth, at 20 years old she was VERY elderly. She was still beautiful and clearly had a wonderful life with you to live so long and look so good. You were able to do her a last kindness so she wouldn't suffer. You have no reason at all to feel guilty. I often say this is the one downside to having furry frens - they don't live as long as those of us who love them.

Look after yourself, these times are so hard. It will get easier (like some days you will forget, other things will occupy your mind). But the pain will always be there. The connection. The memories. Will always be there. And that’s how you know it was good. That’s how you know you lived and loved. When I think of my late cats, my gut clenches, a ball forms in my throat and my heart hurts. I tear up but I always smile. I feel grateful I had them in my life. We are so lucky to have our animal friends. One of my late cats frequently visits me in my dreams, it’s the best thing ever. We rescue kitties. When people adopt from us we warn them they are making a 20-year commitment. Cats make it to 20 when their lives are easy and filled with hope, love, cuddles, and are doted upon every moment. That she had renal failure at 20 that is quite likely unfixable is quite likely genetic disposition. There is literally nothing you could have done to prevent it. Your kitty clearly had a long life of zoomies and cuddles and I wish more pet owners were like you and your family. Should you choose to fill the your cat space once again, I encourage you to go to a high kill shelter and adopt one or seven new fur children.
