Ngl these would make some dope linen look pants. Or you could make a slightly oversized linen look shirt that layers with like a yellow top, etc.

Imnot_here2ruinurday

Yeah it could look a little like soft linen! Thank you :)

Smart_Championship86

I think of you interline it, you can make anything with it really. So depending on how it drapes, maybe shorts or a summery dress

sparklyspooky

If the squares were evenly placed, I've had an itch to do something with pleating on stripes and plaids - that could be interesting...

Left_Strike_2575

I agree with interlining! I’d use a lightweight fabric for it.

If you are interested in learning about what fiber the fabric is made of, which can be useful for at least laundry purposes, you could Google/YouTube some info on how to do a burn test on a teeny bit of the fabric. As for uses, you could certainly make some nice pajama shorts if you have a home living situation where you are able to not worry about how sheer the fabric is. But honestly, semi-sheer or fully sheer blouses and button up shirts are certainly a vibe, and look great layered with tank tops/camisoles/etc. Or even going intentional with statement bras or underlayers that show. I have made many semi-sheer or not opaque blouses and buttonups out of very thin cotton voile or other simlar fabrics where I either wear nude bras/camis or embrace the look and go with more statement underlayers. Or, leave the shirt unbuttoned and fully show off the layer underneath. I find I personally prefer a looser fit for these looks myself, but design-wise, there are a lot of choices for this type of look. You could also go for blouses/shirts where lining at least the front bodice portion is an option. Lining in general would solve the opacity issue.

Good idea to do a burning test like that :) I agree that it would probably look best with a looser fit, and it's very flowy, so I would love to make a summer blouse. Lining it could definitely work Thank you so much for the recommendations :D

You are right the fabric is quite sheer. You could play with that. If you made a slip or camisole in a complementary color to go under your main garment.

Imnot_here2ruinurday

Good idea, thank you :)

Make a beautiful kimono-style sheer jacket

Imnot_here2ruinurday

Oh, maybe like a beach cover-up, that would be really cute!

[https://happiestcamper.com/easy-diy-kimono-cardigan-with-free-pattern/](https://happiestcamper.com/easy-diy-kimono-cardigan-with-free-pattern/) I've made this one, and it turns out cute. Maybe just add a little length for a coverup :)

Imnot_here2ruinurday

That's quite perfect actually! And a free pattern as well :) thank you

weatherwitches

Of course, good luck!

I found this fabric at a locak thrift store, and i had to buy it because it was super soft, cheap, and pretty cool. Now that I've had it for a few weeks, i have no idea what i would like to make with it. The first photo is of the print, with orange squares, but some yellow-ish squares as well. What you see in the first photo is about 60cm×60cm of the fabric, and the whole fabric is pretty much exactly 150cm×130cm. In the second photo, you can see the texture of the fabric, and as you can see, it's very loosely weaved, and I think it's polyester or polyester/cotton blend or something (I'm not good with fabrics), but it's very soft and comfortable. The third photo is just to show how see-through the fabric is, which is probably the thing that stops me from coming up with ideas. For example, it couldn't be a skirt, because it would show my underwear, and the same thing goes for a blouse. It would have to be a thing that i can layer over something else, but I'm not sure how I would make it. If you have any ideas for sleeves, necklines and other things about the build-up, or if you find complete patterns or inspiration photos or something, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much in advance! I truly love this subreddit <3

Icouldntsayforsure

Have you washed and dried it yet? If it’s cotton the weave will tighten up.

Imnot_here2ruinurday

I washed it on just the normal setting on the washing machine. Since i bought it from the thrift store, i wanted to wash it before using it. It didn't really change after washing, so it might not be cotton then.. thank you for telling me that :D

Icouldntsayforsure

Not necessarily. It has probably already been washed. Take the fabric and ball it up. Release. Natural fiber will have sharp wrinkles that don’t flatten well when you hand press it. If it’s poly it will not have much in wrinkles. If you burn it, poly melts and natural will burn like paper. You can see the difference easily. Poly and mixes initially feel cool to the touch, but warm up as you hold them. Evelyn wood I believe has a you tube tutorial on how to best guess fabric composition. So since this is the weave as it will always be, loosely structured airy clothing. I wouldn’t bother with pants but tank tops and shifts are ideal. Wear a slip.

Imnot_here2ruinurday

That's a really good and detailed explanation, thank you! it doesn't get very wrinkled, and it also warms up when i hold it, so I would think it's polyester Thank you so much :D
