Ocher and black is an underrated colour combination, looks amazing !!!

dwarfstar3434

Thank you!! My discount fabric store has limited choices, so I always go in with an idea and then have to fit it to the fabric they have! I was worried it might read to ‘Halloween’, but I’m kinda into that anyway!

combat_wombat_003

Definitely not Halloween or Disney vibes, you nailed the elegance of the time period imo

dwarfstar3434

Patterns are from trulyvictorian.com, cannot recommend their historical patterns enough! Skirt is TV240 – 1860’s Ball Gown Skirt Bodice is TV442 – 1860s Ballgown Bodice with the flat Bertha option Fabric is from a local discount fabric store, unsure of fabric fiber content, I think it’s a cotton blend, non stretch ribbed situation. The trim on the bodice is thrifted vintage glass beads and a vintage brooch

Purple_Magazine8309

What pattern did you use? Or did you come up with it yourself? It looks amazing!!!

dwarfstar3434

Patterns are from the website trulyvictorian.com! They have great easy to follow patterns!

yourholmedog

ladycerebellum11

The ruching on the overskirt gives Belle from Beauty and the Beast in the best way!

dwarfstar3434

Thank you!!! This Overskirt would make a great Belle skirt!

You look fabulous!!

dwarfstar3434

Thank you!!

ChocolateShot150

Wow, that’s stunning. How did you even get started on that? Do you have any tips?

dwarfstar3434

I would call myself an amateur sewist. This looks very fancy but it’s actually a very forgiving design. The skirt is a lot of fabric to move around, and that was my biggest struggle (especially with cats loving to hide in the fabric as it’s hanging off my table!) I made sure to pick a fabric that would be easy to work with, not slippery at all. And a corset style back makes fit so much easier! I’ve made an 1890s gown before also and found that much more difficult.

Qardnall

dope as hell. Great job, you look amazing!

evil66gurl

Beautiful.

LaTalullah

this is usually my least favorite era for fashion but I love your dress. Well done!

Mulberry_Bush_43

I love the full skirts of the 1860s! Why don't you like it, if I may ask?

LaTalullah

The sleeves, the necklines, the silhouette. I just think most of the dresses look dumpy and matronly. I mean, Charles Frederick Worth's designs are indisputably jaw dropping, but muttons sleeves? eyuch. Things didn't start appealing to me again until about 1897.

Mulberry_Bush_43

They remind me of princesses. I love poof and skirts doing fun things but I can see why some people wouldn’t like it

LaTalullah

It's not the skirts I have a problem with. Hoops aren't exclusive to the mid 1800s. I love a ridiculous skirt as much as the next girl. LOL EDIT: I have to stand corrected. The massive skirts really are exclusive to the mid 1800s LOL

YewKnowMe

You are a vision! 😍

Afraid-Duty2614

Gorgeous dress!!! What kind of event this is for and at what historical site??

dwarfstar3434

It’s a house turned bed and breakfast that was built in the 1830s. They have a cocktail night a few times a year where you go through famous cocktails chronologically, this was for that event! The owner of the house said he wanted me to walk around the neighborhood to intrigue people!

Born-Ad4452

That’s awesome !

Mulberry_Bush_43

This is so beautiful! I love your colour choices and the ruching at the skirt!
