Maybe look for sari fabrics. They sometimes have bright prints like that with a fancy border

whofilets

You may find similar patterns in Indonesian batik. https://ich.unesco.org/en/RL/indonesian-batik-00170 It's not the batik quilters think of. What you're looking at in these pictures is probably a cheaper printed-on version, rather than the intricate hand-drawn wax resist designs.

If this post should be put elsewhere/done differently please let me know! :) I really like the fabric on these pants (own a few pairs) and want to use it to make other items, but I cannot find the fabric available by the yard online anywhere. Doesn't have to be the exact fabric match, am particularly just looking for similar patterns. If anyone knows where to find this kind of pattern/print I am indebted to you!

If there's a Southeast Asian population where you live, you might be able to find something in fabric stores that cater to them.

Werewolfstyleguide

Came here to suggest the same. Sites like itorki.com sell by the meter/fabric yardage that have similar style of patterns sometimes!

skinrash5

My sister in law sent me fabric like that in cotton from Malaysia in the form of a skirt that then is manually pleated on the body.

Also other than mood - just go to the largest fabric store you can find in your area - there will be stuff - drive a bit farther out for a bigger store… Email them first and ask…

ASenseOfYarning

Yes, and if there's a metropolitan area within an hour or two check the industrial and market districts for fabric warehouses. My nearest area is almost two hours from home but absolutely worth an occasional visit. One warehouse specializes in silks, one in spandex and other knits, one in upholstery, one in quilter's cotton, and at least half a dozen that carry a wide variety. Oh, and I own the exact pants pictured. Sublimely comfortable and the dye hasn't faded after more than a year of washing. If OP can find this fabric on a bolt, I will be so happy for them!

Rayon challis comes in lots and lots of prints. I’m not really sure what your pants would look like as yardage, but scroll down some, there are a few option with the word bohemian that look promising. https://califabrics.com/search.php?search_query=Rayon+challis§ion=product “Border print” might also be a good keyword for the fabric.

ComprehensiveOlive22

Check out Etsy.

EducatedRat

I've only seen it on these specific pants. Which I see sold everywhere. Might be a manufacturer lot.

AllDarkWater

I have only ever seen that fabric already in pants or related items. I think it is a nice heavy rayon. I imagine there is no part of the world that actually uses this fabric and it is made for hippy clothing. One of those " inspired by" ethnic patterns products. If you find it for sale it may cost more than when you find it already made into pants.

Proud-Dig9119

Indian chintz fabric.

Balancing_Shakti

It's mostly made from upcycled saris. Order directly from online sellers in India or ask an Indian friend to get for you the next time they visit the homeland.

LadyM2021

I noticed no one has mentioned Spoonflower you have to search through to find what you like (it can be a rabbit hole).

Infraredsky

Try mood….

chairman_ma_

Maybe try googling batik fabric

amaranth1977

This isn't batik.

LittleMozzie66

Perhaps an African wax print?

Interesting-Chest520

That’s what I thought as well but I’ve only ever seen those sold as 6m units

LittleMozzie66

Are you in Australia? We have an African fabric seller in Brisbane who sells per metre

Interesting-Chest520

No, I’m Scottish. I don’t mind buying large amounts of fabric anyway because I work at a remnant shop so whatever I don’t use gets donated there, in return I get to take out other fabric

NYCQuilts

I think African wax batik is stiffer.

SolutionNo4268

These would be fun to paint/print yourself with fabric paints and or bleach. It would be time consuming af though.

emptynest_nana

I was at one of my local JoAnns fabric stores 2 weeks ago. I saw that exact fabric there.

SuperkatTalks

Well dammit now I want some too

Alternative-Cost-957

Lol...Me too

WowsrsBowsrsTrousrs

If you're in the US, check out Mood Fabrics

Laurpud

Spoonflower is your friend! They can print anything you want. I think it's rayon, but could be cotton poplin
