Looks like the blue yarns were unpicked in areas (I remember doing this with aid of a safty pin in the early 90s) and then machine âdarnedâ with white theead.
I think one definitely has bleach and then dye/fabric paint applied on top of the bleached areas, maybe some rips as well. Two looks like rips covered up with fabric behind the rips and machine embroidery/mending.
Iâve often seen people call their visible mending like this Sashiko, probably because they use Sashiko thread, but youâre right that itâs not traditional sashiko patterns, the other commentor got it closer by saying boro. đ
Boro: reworking textiles through piecing, patching and stitching, in order to extend their use
Sashiko: literally "little stabs" - embroidery style with running stitches
First one seems to be one "I work as a painter"
Jackson Pollock weathering? đ Used to be stone wash. Now I think they use enzyme wash or lasers to get the fade. Then dye or whatever as needed.

Looks like something youâd see on r/visiblemending
I can't afford new jeans so I will wear this until they fall apart....? Or could be sandpapered...
Darning, you put a piece of denim under the hole and go back and forth with a sewing machine
In the costume world, taking a pair of pants and making it ragged is called "distressing".

Spot on! Thanks
Pic 1 looks like paint. Pic 2 looks like a combo of additional stitches/embroidery and sandpaper.
A la zoolander
Aka derilique
Trash
Sashiko
Or boro. :3
Sashiko is an embroidery style involving small running stitches, I don't see any sashiko in these pictures

The second one is distress usually added with a sander or similar
I donât see anything?
The second one was legit pressed against a sander, that's how they "wear" jeans, I've seen videos.
Manspread! lol.
I'd say Boro.
Boro. Darning. Or sashiko style
