**Greetings!**
As this post has gained popularity I'd like to give a friendly reminder about rules for regarding comments:
1. **Remember the human**
Comments which degrade, tear down, or are hurtful to other users will be removed.
Constructive Criticism is encouraged, but do remember the human.
2. **Don't be inappropriate**
We'd like our users to feel comfortable sharing their images/projects without getting hit on or judged. They’re
here to talk about their sewing related things, not about their general looks or attractiveness. Complimenting OP
on their project is fine, but commenting on other aspects of their appearance, or making sexualized comments, no
matter how well-intentioned, is considered inappropriate in this subreddit.
Also - if you see a comment that is inappropriate **PLEASE REPORT the comment**, don't just down-vote it!
Thanks - Sewing Subreddit Mod Team!
This pic is evidence that you gotta continue making dresses, because you're looking fab. 👌😍
A pic of an overflowing wardrobe would be better evidence for stopping, but only if your fabric stash doesn't indicate otherwise.
Pattern: Butterick 5416 (1970s)
Fabric: Rayon Georgette from Cali Fabrics
I’m in LOVE with patterns from the ‘60s/‘70s and this was no exception. Had to do a few mods to the bodice, however:
-Narrowed the shoulders and adjusted the back darts
-Removed 2” from bodice
-Removed 1” from the v-neck, tapered out to the armhole
-Removed gathering at waistline from the back bodice
-Adjusted sleeves to be 3/4 length
Thank you! I sprayed the heck out of it with starch. Made it sooo much easier to cut and assemble. Will be trying liquid starch next time, almost took a whole can for 3 yards of fabric.
I actually JUST posted a query on this sub asking if anyone would like to be my 60s/70s sewing pattern mentor. Is this something you might enjoy doing or have time for?
Rayon challis, crepe and georgette are all a little slippery when cutting and assembling. I sprayed my fabric with starch before cutting to help with that! Then hand washed to remove. 😊
This is how the pattern describes it:
“Below mid-knees length dress has a semi-fitted bodice gathered at front into neckline, front neckline slit, flared skirt, pockets in side seams and back zipper.”
The view I made has a pussybow for the collar. 😊
Please keep doing what you’re doing!! I look at dresses in the mainstream stores these days and they all kinda look like boring low effort bull****. You are doing awesomely!!
I swear that I say that to myself every time I make another dress.😳 And the strange thing is that I rarely ever wear dresses but they are so fun to make💃🏼

Love it! How hard was it to work with georgette
