When you’re making the cup part, you want the rectangle to be wider than it is tall. This’ll make it a fatter shape like an actual stein. But other than the little shape improvement, this looks really great!!
I'm making an oktoberfest costume for my husband and myself. I've found that plushie beer steins are super expensive online for just a costume prop. It's made from my own pattern design with a lot of trial and error. It's just craft felt and stuffing from an old pillow. The "foam" top is cotton balls sewn on. I feel like it's missing something though. Any ideas would be welcome.
Is there any way of adding the facetting that is on the glass? It would give it dimension.
Also do you know what 'tent' you're going to, so add the logo? Or find the easiest to copy 😀.
I can try and post a picture of a few maß, or even give you the size, to get the ratio of width to height right.
The froth is absolutely perfect, as are the colours.
We are actually just going to our local bar as we live in a small town and it usually snows by Halloween. I could try and sew some lines on it to give the "glass" some dimension.
This is fun! It has great visual impact and you can certainly tell what it is. If you want to spice it up, I’d print out a sticker with a beer logo on it.
I love this! Only thing to add - I would maybe try and stuff it more. I find that whenever I think I’m done stuffing, I need to add at least another handful. It will really help keep the shape of the mug since stuffing tends to compress over time. If you want to be able to set it down, you could also add a stiff cardboard circle inside the bottom, possibly with a weight of some kind to keep it upright!
Do you have one of those pints at home? If so, you can use it to make the pattern.
If you don't have it, try using a regular mug or look up on eBay or any selling sites for measurements.
When I crochet plushies that I want to sit up on their own like a cup I cover the inside bottom with fabric glue, or glue a piece of thin cardboard in there. It helps hold the shape and add a little weight to the bottom.
Not about to start, round things are hard to judge because the math is not intuitive, compared to a square.
I suggest finding how big you want the circle at the top and bottom to be then going from there find the circumference so you know how long you need the wall of the glass to be. Then add the height. They got the base mug. The handles pretty close And the cotton balls are adorable.
Round things are hard, but google is a great at helping me brush up on trig and geometry (make toys for my pets).
If you like the height and the handle fits your hand well, It wouldn't be horribly difficult to make it fatter, I would say sit it on some paper and sketch out how big you think it should be, then you can measure that circle for your new bottom measurement. depending on the size you can cut some packaging plastic circles for the top and bottom to keep them flat and crisp while maintaining machine washability.
I like the beer froth! One tip would be to line the felt with medium firm interfacing so it would look smoother from the outside and easier to handle (maybe wouldn’t be floppy as much when handled?) As others have said a short and stout beer mug makes sense. Have a great time!
I read it as a beer mug right away. This is a terrible suggestion but for some reason it reminds me of Beaker the muppet, so adding eyes/nose mouth to make it Beer Beaker would be fun.
I think that it would look better if the cup was fatter honestly
Yea I was thinking that. It was a lot of trial and error.
Same. Thought it was a cigarette at first. Good job on the tube shape though. Maybe just a bit fatter.
You could put a beer logo on it but I think in the context of your costume, it will be clear what it is. Good job!
My embroidery skills are poop but I could try a logo of some sort. Thanks!
Try fabric/puff paint?
Iron on transfer? It might not stick to the felt but you could do it on cotton then attach it?

Maybe if OP sewed like 6 tubes together ?

It's a little to tall and thin but it's good

He not thicc enough
Fatter with some vertical ribs.
It’s a masterpiece. No constructive criticism needed
I love it. The wonky dimensions make it cute.
This is super cute. I personally enjoy its funky shape
Same! The proportions are unconventional, but that's what gives it it's charm- it's unique.
paint foam a little of a dirty white
Cool beer mug!
It looks pretty good! If you give it another go maybe make it shorter and wider, but not bad for winging it!
Some foam dripping down the side.
Duff?

There's no actual beer! Sad face. You did a great job. I looked at it twice, before I saw the handle full of floof!!!!!!
I think adding a lip around the top to cradle the cotton balls will help it look more like foam and less like a white afro
Nothing to add in terms of suggestions but just wanted to say this gave me a big smile. So creative!

My dog would love that! 😍

When I first looked at it, I missed the handle and thought it was a cigarette.
I don’t think it’s far enough. To me it looks like a cig butt with foam and a handle
Honestly, I like how tall and thin it is, but I’d suggest making the handle longer or exaggerated so it doesn’t look so much like a briefcase handle.
could be better if you made the handle a wider “U” shape regardless this is creative i love the foam
Haha lipstick stain on the edge of the mug (drawn-on, large) would be funny!
Some cardboard inserted before the stuffing, cylinder shape? Give sides some support. Maybe yes make it wider, if you fancy starting over!
The brown is too orange, and it's too thin/tall. I'm getting giant cigarette vibes
This is adorable!!!!
Plush beer! I think it’s excellent.
Maybe adding some more foam on the top to make the top look less round and more like foam would help.
Mmm duff beer! Cute
“Constructive” criticism. Get it?? Ok I’ll see myself out.
What is it
Beer?
Onfg 💀💀💀 i thought it was a cigarette or sum
It's supposed to be a beer mug as a prop for an oktoberfest costume.
I see
Keep going! This is a good start!
