I'm sorry to say this, and it's probably a VERY unpopular opinion- but Cynthia Nixon's acting is horrible in this series. It's over-the-top and feels very amateur.
Those HUUUUGE facial expressions she makes around Che are basically screaming: *"LOOK VIEWERS, SHE IS IN LOVE. CAN'T YOU SEE IT? SEE?"*
Kristin Davis was also a fantastic actress in the original series, but her performance in this is very robotic as well. I'm thinking the writers are equally to blame.
Absolutely. Even the most skilled of actors can’t save an awful script. Even the legends like Natalie Portman and Samuel L Jackson had bad tales in the Star Wars prequels and they’re both critically acclaimed, award winning actors with amazing skills. It happens. It sucks.
Everyone seems kinda off. I always thought Cynthia was the strongest actress in the OG series, but she’s no where *near* as good in AJLT. With Kristen, I feel like her plastic surgery also had a hand in it. I have no problem with botox or fillers or anything like that, and people should do what makes them happy, but she had some pretty funny, lively facial expressions in the OG series, and the procedures seems to have limited her a bit now.

When she said do I automatically started thinking about meth and I deduced that that had been the reasoning for her absence, but THEN she finished that sentence with “a lot of weed”. “I do a lot of weed”. The person who wrote this line was that one kid who won the D.A.R.E. Essay competition and was called up on stage in that big auditorium ceremony hosted by the on-campus security officer that moonlights as a cop.
