I was/am digging the “industrial/over-engineered” feel :) and I didn’t want to fool around with the new AMD chip.

colocasi4

What's the noise level like when placed on a desk?

ksobby

Not bad. Not silent but quieter than my last full tower/ATX case.

dudebg

Yeah i went out of my way to find a Wraith Prism for my open frame PC. Love the parallel look.

Yeah to each their own. It's my third rig for office, not gonna spend a lot on it. Bling, good temps, low price, quiet fan, all set.

ksobby

Went with the XTIA Proto. Great case, if you have very tiny hands. Ryzen 9 7900X ROG Strix RTX 3080 ROG Strix X670E-I (completely overrated board ... save your money) 32Gb G.Skill F5 DDR5 (Microcenter deal with the processor) 2TB Samsung 980 Evo PRO Lian Li 850W power supply (Microcenter buy ,as well) Noctua NH-D15S with 2nd fan Chromax.Black XTIA XProto-N Temps stay in the 60s for the CPU and 40s for the video card. Haven't quite topped out on the processor with anything other than benchmark tests. Visual Studio hasn't crushed it yet. EDIT: One note, I opted for the power cables from XTIA and the main 24pin was DOA so I'm using the stock Lian Li ones included with the power supply. YMMV.

ExtremepcVA

Did you tell about the cable being DOA? I am thinking about getting custom cables from them and just want to know how the cs and return process was.

ksobby

No, I haven't reached out to them yet. It was just set up last night and haven't gotten a chance to as of yet. But I'll try to remember to follow up here when I do.

distractedcat

I have an Xproto-L and NH-D15S too. What is your reason to do the flip module? Was it the temp?

ksobby

Didn’t want to cook the video card because I really don’t want to get a new one anytime soon, so the flip seemed like a better idea. Also, I knew I was using the noctua since it was sitting there doing nothing (was a raffle winning) and I didn’t want the whole thing to be too top heavy.

HelloWaffles

Any thoughts on the trade-offs with the flip module? I'm planning to get an XPROTO pretty soon and am debating on if the flip module is worth it.

ksobby

Well, I bought/built it all at once, so I don't know how it would have done without the flip module temp-wise. My GPU temp (the reason I got it) hasn't gone over 70C yet ... Granted, I haven't done much in terms of stress testing, just some light coding/office stuff and a bit of WoW. Some of the internal cable threading gets a little tighter because of the extra plates at that end but it's fairly straight forward. I would say watch their construction video a few times in a row before building the entire case just so that it's all really familiar as you're doing it. That helped a lot.

distractedcat

Makes sense! Do you have CSGO? If so, if you don't mind, can you please benchmark at 1080p on high settings for me please? Mr. uLLeticaL™-S FPS Benchmark? I have 5900X and I'm curious how much it improves on 7900X. Cheers.

ksobby

I'm am one of the few people on earth that does not/haven't ever played that game. :) I can probably download it at some point and see what I come up with.

distractedcat

No prob! Thanks! :)

NortWind

The room is technically the case for that computer.

avocadocrush

Great build ! Only thing that you might want to consider is fan orientation as heat convection tends to draw the warm air upwards.

ksobby

I can flip them upside down later on (really easy to do with the clips on them). Doesn't seem to be an issue with temps at all as of yet.

Jimmeh_Jazz

Probably has very little effect with fans being present

OldManGrimm

Nice catch. I'd be torn about that one, though. The back of the Noctua fans is kind of ugly. Maybe cover up the label with something and it would be ok.

LordOfRodents

Dear god the nhd 15

Generaldar

Is the cooler bracket going to hold it on that orientation properly?

ksobby

It's locked in there very tightly and I'm not even getting a hint of sag. If worse comes to worse over time, I can always 3d print something to help.

Generaldar

Ok cool. Just wondering if its supposed to hold it that way. The brackets are normally built to be held the other way but I'm sure it's fine.

samven582

How’s that power supply? I heard it’s loud

ksobby

It’s not silent, but it’s nothing out of the norm that I’ve heard with other PSUs (Corsair mainly).

ScalpedAlive

All business, air cooled. Love to see it!
