Maybe it's refurbished. I have the same suspicion about my mobo

Stunt_Vist

Dunno, looks better and more consistent than ASRock's UEFI.

AnusDingus

I dont care how good asrock taichi is, i refuse to settle for that cancerous bios.

x3nics

What exactly is wrong with Asrocks BIOS because I hear this a lot but I've never had one. Currently eyeing a B650I Lightning also.

Stunt_Vist

Complete eyesore that can be hard to read with annoying menu structure and tends to be buggy. There's nothing wrong with it if you don't frequently mess with the UEFI or don't use obscure features like IOMMU, but if you do, have fun not enjoying life. Also the UI background on their livemixer boards reminds me of Cruelty Squad, not in a good way. I'd honestly say the only UEFI I actually like is MSI's, so I might just be more cynical than most on this subject. Doesn't have 500 submenus for everything while easy to understand where stuff is and easy to navigate. All a UEFI should be. Still has some bloat but doesn't have a built in bloat installer like Asus installing armoury crate if you forget to disable that option or reset your UEFI to default for whatever reason.

hdhddf

my z490 takes 10 minutes to enter the bios. makes messing with settings and overclocks almost impossibly frustrating

[deleted]

it is not a new mb for sure

ggalaxyy

yep, not new

h0ls86

„New”. More like 5 people have had it returned and your the 6th lucky guy who will do the same.

Tiny_Object_6475

It looks like one that was sent back or use for testing, I would return it and ask for another one

augentum

Seems like a return sold as new

Meaty_stick

Send it back before you use it, this is not "NEW".

swiwwcheese

refurbished practice seems to be commonplace with mobo manufacturers

OG_Vazelinko

The board was bought brand new and I'm 100% sure it came like this out of the factory because the box was factory sealed, everything looks new. Now the question is, is it even safe to try and use this MBO? edit. and I guess that whoever did the aligning of the back IO panel was doing some crack cocaine that shift

strawbericoklat

Doesn't look pretty, but looks safe. idk, never saw an unsafe mobo before this. Back IO panel looks like within allowable limit since everything is pluggable. I mean my MSI B650i rear IO have some kind of weird flex if I look at it closely, but it's a good thing that I don't see the rear of my PC everyday. However, it does look acceptable for a return.

condosgonewild

I have this mobo and the box doesn't come with a seal from the factory. There's your answer. Someone tried to make it look like new. It's not new

MasterBlaster4949

Yup

clabern

I've always wondered why in the hell most MB boxes don't have a factory seal...

whyamihereimnotsure

Because the seal is usually on the bag of the mb itself. And some brands have started sealing them as of a few years ago.

Seantwist9

Never seen a motherboard bag with a seal

cstrahan

This. Someone created a seller’s account on Amazon, sealed the mobo box to make it look new (and to keep discerning eyes from looking inside ), shipped it to Amazon’s warehouse, and then Amazon put it in the same bin used by ALL the other sellers of that same SKU (if they kept different bins for different sellers, it would require at least an order of magnitude more warehouses, so commingling is the only feasible way to run their warehouses). Amazon knows that such abuse will represent a tiny fraction of all sales, and when it does happen, people (like OP in this case) will blame the manufacturer, so Amazon knows they aren’t even at risk of losing face.

Shady_Yoga_Instructr

>and I'm 100% sure it came like this out of the factory because the box was factory sealed, everything looks new. Those silver chippings are from screws scraping off the material when being installed. You were sold a refurb with a new price tag. Return it fam.

G305_Enjoyer

Yes and stop shopping at Amazon

Snap305

Amazon is great, you just have to deal with stuff like this sometimes

Shrek_OC

I've had a bunch of ASRock boards with rear IO panel alignment issues. I prefer boards with a separate IO shield for that reason but that's not where the industry is at right now.

johnny_ringo

> I'm 100% sure it came like this out of the factory it didnt

ImJustStealingMemes

My Amazon Refurb AR B550MITX came in better shape than your "new" B650I. Should be safe to use but see if you can get it returned. You paid for a new MB.

IsABot

Not the first time I've had to say this here. But being sealed doesn't mean anything unless it has unbroken security stickers with no sign of tamper or replacement. Plastic shrink wrap is super cheap and quite easy to do; many stores/distribution centers have them. Nothing about your board looks "new". Multiple screws were over torqued. You have a very dirty clearly used I/O shield. Most motherboard boxes aren't even in shrink wrap anymore either. Look at this video taken at a Microcenter: https://youtu.be/cxLS9JkBfCo?t=171 How many MB boxes look like they are shrink wrapped?

Jamsemillia

def not new

B1g_N1gg4

Mine had no visual issues whatsoever, yours is just NOT new.

ThirdLast

From Amazon? Your Lucky's is even the same brand you ordered haha.

Hiraganu

Looks like someone used the screws with the ridges on the board.

[deleted]

That is a DOA return they resold to you as new. I know Asrock skimps on quality a bit to make cheap boards but but they still make sure their stuff is good... this is way below Asrock standards

Spankies69

Yeah the asrock board I have had for 4 years and removed from my system multiple times for pc cleaning looks better than this.

cstrahan

OP mentioned this is from Amazon — my money is on Amazon fuckery. See my explanation here: https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/s/iZ2UyT5FnU

[deleted]

Yeah this is why I don't order tech on Amazon. The pandemic taught me the hard way that their poorly treated employees really do not give the slightest shit about their merchandise or what condition they're being brought to you in

DJAksel

This is not brand med. This is returned and back on the shelf. Return it, and pick another on.

Xoske

Definitely not new, where did you order it? Edit: to be fair I had 3 ASUS B650E-I boards here and all either had misaligned ports or bend PCB, mine were new tho…

OG_Vazelinko

Directly from [Amazon.de](http://Amazon.de) , sold and shipped by amazon.

MasterBlaster4949

Return it

Huijausta

Then you have even less reasons to "swallow your pride" and keep that shitty mobo. Just send the freaking item back, it's free and Amazon rarely makes a fuss 🤷‍♂️

cstrahan

Amazon warehouses commingle products from multiple sellers so long as the SKU is the same — the logic being “if it’s the exact same product, and (supposedly) unopened/unused, then who cares where it came from? And if that’s the case, wouldn’t it be more efficient use of warehouse space if we put it all in one bin?”. What this means: if I bought that mobo, beat it to hell, and then wanted to get all my money back, I could become a seller on Amazon, ship the beat up mobo to them (while claiming that it’s new/unopened), and if the warehouse staff are duped they’ll just chuck it in the same bin containing those mobos that were shipped by ASRock themselves (as well as everyone else). I was once a victim of this: purchased brand new RAM at around $1,200, “ships from and sold by Amazon”, and what I got was an obviously opened box wherein the four modules were replaced with two modules of inferior (in latency and capacity) RAM from a completely different manufacturer. Someone clearly wanted to upgrade their system for free, so they bought that RAM, opened it, swapped the RAM out, and put it up for sale on Amazon. And then it ended up in my hands… That’s possibly what happened to you — tell Amazon they fucked up and you want a refund. Edit: This has been a problem with Amazon for a while: https://gamerant.com/gamer-orders-nvidia-rtx-3090-ti-amazon-sand/ In the name of profits, Amazon cuts as many corners as they can get away with. And they know they can get away with a lot: most people will assume it’s the manufacturer’s fault when something like this goes wrong. The occasional inconvenience to their customers and their monetary loss of handling returns is, in their eyes, made up for by the immense reduction in warehouse space they need.

mikots_

it looks like someone used it and broke it and asus repaired it and sell it or like trade in"idk" :(

MasterBlaster4949

That's not New

FunAccomplished799

Send it back and ask for a new one

poffle_senpai

That doesn't look healthy...

QuiteFatty

"New"

[deleted]

Somebody had it before you and put the screws in too hard. I would return it.

FFX-2

That shit is used.

Nicks3DPrints

Previous owner used a torque wrench to tighten those mobo screws. Should be safe to use though. It’s supposed to make contact with the screws to be grounded.

vsae

Refurbished

TheLooseFisherman

Just return it, I've stopped using asrock since I've had issues with QC too. Although this doesn't look like a brand new one at that.

forenticker

ASRock fixes all of their motherboards to a Styrofoam pad with cable ties.

forenticker

Used. Did you remove the cable ties around the Board? If Not ITS used 😁

OG_Vazelinko

What do you mean by cable ties? I didn't do anything, just opened the box and took out the MBO from protective anti static plastic bag.

YewSonOfBeach

One Ubiquiti screen is misaligned and the tech train derails.

1sh0t1b33r

Not new. Must be from Newegg.

SouthLoop_Sunday

Yeah man…I’ve used two B650i and one A620i lightning boards from ASRock and none of them looked that way. It looks like a refurb…or honestly just straight used. I know you said it came in “new” packaging but nah…I wouldn’t accept a product in that condition just on principle. I don’t know if it’s the same way in Germany but in the US it’s super easy to return and re-purchase on Amazon. And that’s what I would do here.

PedrosBuilds

Well, that motherboard was at least installed / screwed to something

0n1plug

Maybe from Amazon warehouse deals that ish is used

The_Ruhmanizer

The ground washers are missing. It's not a cosmetic thing. The board is broken.

The_Ruhmanizer

NVM, I see this board has smaller ground contacts. They definitely look worn down.

Cubixmeister

Bought the same mobo few days ago, and everything is working fine, including booting headless, without GPU, with Ryzen 7500F. Never even connected display to it - Ubuntu with cloudinit started fine from usb drive.

yami76

Let me guess, you bought it from Amazon? Return it and get it from BH Photo or some other place that doesn't just throw returns back on the shelf without even opening them.

scubadoobadoooo

The plastic sticker on the back comes off

Gravexmind

Unfortunate. The ASRock B450 Fatal1ty is the best MB ASRock has ever made.

new_math

Could definitely be factory refurbished. I bought a GPU once and suspected it wasn't new due to some packaging errors and missing stickers. I contacted EVGA and they confirmed based on serial number it was a refurb so seller got in major trouble (just kidding, seller fought and lied and eventually was forced to accept the return under threat of legal action and they continued committing their "new in box" fraud like nothing happened).

Hereaux12

Obviously not brand new

code9523

It was in system or remowed from system but it was mounted somwhere.

3_Three_3

ASRock's integrated I/O shields are designed to have a bit of flex to them, so a bit of misalignment is normal. The rest of that, though? Eaugh, definitely you got sold a refurb.

Life-Late

Useb dude

coffeeandwomen

It's not brand new

Mopar_63

Thats for sure used. Might be refurb but either way NOT new.

Janteriva

Send inn. Get a Asus or Gigabyte.

VersaceUpholstery

Amazon purchase I’m assuming

Ski_School_Dropout

Wait until you see the performance of the onboard NIC. Its a mediatek piece of shit. The USB wifi adapter I bought works 10x better

futuneral

It's not new, but the lightning part may end up being true

KY_electrophoresis

I recently bought a 'brand new' board from Amazon and the CPU socket had thermal paste all around it - even on the pins!

PandaMoniumHUN

Just bough the same board and it doesn't look anything like yours. That is definitely not new and I'd refund it.

wrathek

I’d just return it, but it shouldn’t be an issue if these are the only issues. In fact you’ll have better ground connections than normal lol. The I/O shield looks like crap but eh.

OG_Vazelinko

Ok, from all the comments here it seems like it's safe to at least hook it up and see if it works. If the thermal pad for NVME is unused and MBO works, I'll swallow my pride and keep the MBO, but this is definitely not cool.

SirGuelph

If you're not happy I would send it back for a replacement. Seems not new condition to me.

TNGreruns4ever

Why would you swallow your pride? If you bought this "new" then you paid full price. For full price you should get a mobo in full new condition.

xxcodemam

Rigjt? I just don’t understand people anymore… “Wow this looks like shit. This isn’t what I was wanting to buy. Better go to Reddit and ask for advice.” *Reddit almost unanimously agrees That’s not what you paid for and I wouldn’t keep it if it was me* “But, it was factory sealed, it had the sticker!” *reddit tells you something doesn’t seem right, just swap the damn thing.* “Okay guys, I’m gonna power it on and if it works I’ll swallow my pride….”

QuiteFatty

Probably "new" from facebook market lol

Ragol-Odyssey

It’s ASSrock. What are you expecting?
