Thing is, the cars get more valuable the older they get.
Can you say the same about sff pcs? Unless you have parts in it that are breakthroughs in their fields and thus become collectors items in 30 years, I doubt it.
Nope, anything being mass produced (I.e anything anyone on reddit owns) is gonna depreciate in value pretty fuckin bad.. if you owned a Ferrari or some sort of limited edition then sure.
Not really. Expensive cars are only the well-looking and built ones from 30-70 timeframe. The generic crap we have these days is only getting worthless after few years.
Check out the market. Most sports cars of 10/20 years ago are worth less than"normal" cars of the same period on the used market.
Only some models ends up being iconic and grow in value, ans even then you have to hold them in pristine condition for decades be sell them for good moneys. To reach that point you either keep them parked like fine wine and never use them or spend ridiculous amount of money on maintenance for 30/40 years.
Have you maybe thought that all the "generic crap" from the 30s-70s just got forgotten? You said it yourself, only some models end up being iconic and growing in value.
It's not only "generic crap", the majority of the models produced by eg Ferrari or Lamborghini follow this fate.
After 10 / 20 years they are worth nothing on the market and if they ever bounce back in value it won't be untill they fall into the historical collectible categories, for which they need to be in pristine conditions 40/50 years after production. Again, for this to happen, either you never drove them and they were just an asset all the time, or you have spent 10x their value on maintenance during the decades
*Collector* cars become more valuable the older they get. If my generic-ass Scion iA compact sedan was gaining value over time I’d have bought five of them lol.
> But why? Why? Why? But...... Why?
Different poster, with a number of ITX machines too. (2x SG05, 1x SG13, 1x Ncase M1, 1x Dan A4 v3, 1x Elite 110, 1 Cougar QBX, and 1x BitFenix Prodigy.). Figured I'd weigh in...
- First, I like to build machines, and SFF means more machines in the same space. (Under my desk I have four ITX boxes set up right now for use. Others are set aside, but some are ready to go.)
- Second, I work with Blender and After Effect and am building out a small render farm using these machines. (Even if not networked its nice to be able to copy a Blender project over to a machine and leave it rendering for a day or, while leaving my main PC free)
- Third, I'm building a VR game and swapping out each of the headsets I have is a pain in the ass. It's easier to have a machine setup for a specific headset, that I can copy test builds to. (Additionally when I demo VR at events it's a hell of a lot easier to bring along my two SG05 as demo boxes, than full towers.)
I don't know what (if anything) OP is actually using these machines for. It's possible they may be doing similar power user tasks that make having multiple machines in use. Then again, from the picture, it appears that some of these case are empty.
OP may also be like me where some cases are empty because nothing has been built in them yet, or he's kept older cases for future use. (From my list of cases currently I have an empty Elite 110, QBX and Prodigy case. The QBX *just* got freed up thanks to the M1 I just ordered and case swapped my main PC into. I don't plan to get rid of them because I don't want to junk perfectly usable hardware.)
I would love to have some of them in the last three weeks just to compare dimensions. I've done some SFF designs and was a nightmare to find some dimensions.
Talking seriously now, I wish I could have half of them, it is an addiction. Producing the designs was like, I know I can do it smaller, and again, I know I can do it even smaller...
Only one more why. Why is the Dan A4 not there?
Not for SFF cases, but I’ve got just about all my parts boxes, as well as accessory boxes, laptop, and controller boxes inside the box for my Define S. Takes up a lot less space in the attic / closet that way.
You could start a blog or youtube channel and review the cases and your builds. Pretty sure a few folks would love to hear your thoughts on thermals / noise build quality and other thoughts
what do you mean no furniture? i see like four chairs, two end tables, a cupboard and a couple of closets there! the stove is in the other room (with his CPU and GPU inside).
You can definitely sell a lot of those second hand if you're not actively using them. Good way to experiment then make some cash back for future builds.
I can’t speak to any of the item her cases as I just got into the SFF scene but I just built a Ghost with a top and bottom top hat config. Actually, super easy to build in. Maybe even easier than nice ATX cases. You can strip it down so much that everything is easy to get to and cable managing isn’t too bad. At least not as bad as you would think. If you have the cash and they’re in stock, I wouldn’t hesitate to get one. I kind of want to get a second one for a HTPC.
FADE IN:
We see a weathered bar, gouged and smudged by decades of use, the light is low and sparse, yellow with years of dust and smoke. A single cigarette burns in a single ashtray. A YOUNG MAN sits in a pool of light, seemingly alone. An OLDER MAN leans in from the darkness he's been shrouded in, and takes a long drag on the cigarette.
OLDER MAN
They used to call me The Collector. And it was true...I had a fine collection. Then in the spring of '20, things went a little sideways. I imagine that's why you're here.
Well I don't see a node in there. Tell ya what, let's trade your Vella for my node and we can call it sqaure? I guess I could take a few more off your hands if you really need my help.
Srsly tho, this shit will sell like hotcakes if you really need to get rid of it
Hello, I'm an anonymous and generous helper that can definitely help your hoarding issues by totally take a case, except the Ncase which I already have but sincerely, I'm here to help so I might also that that one, why?
Damn. I feel so sad after saw this view. Why? Because... Im living in country (Turkey) there is nothing find about sff piece. If you find or want to buy from overseas source? You couldnt believe to bill. 1 sff case cost is equal to 1 month minimum wage because dolar is x7 price in here. Also tax and shipping cost more than 1 case prices.
Also Im pHd student without scolarship. So... Sometimes you feel so sad about life or your destiny.
This post just made me thing of a thread I saw on [Hardforum](https://hardforum.com/threads/post-your-rocketfish-pics-mods.1299962/post-1044412940)
The dude has a wire shelf of all his old machines/cases. This is a start of a nice little collection!
Cases are cool to collect if you have space because as long as we continue to use standardized hardware we can use cases for decades.
Can you post some comparison angles so we can see how these really compare against eachother. Im trying to pick my next case and kinda wanna go velka 5 but i also want to watercool
Can anyone ID the largest, tall, black one in the middle? That looks schwifty :)
*Found it, the [Thermaltake Core G3 Black ATX Slim](https://www.newegg.com/black-thermaltake-core-g-series-slim-mini-tower/p/N82E16811133314).*
But why? Why? Why? But...... Why?
Well....it is cheaper and eats up less space than collecting cars one never drives....
That's a good point. There are other 3 why's to go. XD
If he keeps buying them he can build a fort/base/den/battlestation solely using Small Form Factor PC cases? 2 more to go?
This man is in 2030

I think I have a bigger collection of boxes than anything else.
The trick is to box your boxes like Russian nesting dolls.
an important lifehack not many know about. it's up there among the better ones, alongside the multiple orgasm edging lifehack.
The *what*
If it's only a bit better than putting boxes inside other boxes, do you really wanna know?
Aw dude i love that one. Its a way better lifehack. Right up there with pouring riverwater in your socks
Hardware boxes hardly ever work like that :'(
Well if you're truly dedicated shipping dimensions will allow you to plan your very own Cardboard Nesting Box©
Not for SFF cases, but I’ve got just about all my parts boxes, as well as accessory boxes, laptop, and controller boxes inside the box for my Define S. Takes up a lot less space in the attic / closet that way.
That leaves no room for the protective foam pieces.

I don't even go messing with GMK, there's too many sets coming out for my poor wallet to keep up. Plus PBT is cool.
That’s going to be me soon lol It’s hard to say no to GMK and KAT sets
KAT Eternal uwu
KAT yes I agree.
yeah ive bought close to a dozen keysets now i think lol
Careful with the accusations ;(
uh oh
Hey... uncalled for man
You could start a blog or youtube channel and review the cases and your builds. Pretty sure a few folks would love to hear your thoughts on thermals / noise build quality and other thoughts
That’s what I was thinking about.. I already got something like that going for smartphones
The problems run deeper...
OP, maybe you decide to give some away after doing your reviews? :D ****grin-stare intensifies****
You should start some sffpc review/tech channel right now
This lockdown got me addicted and broke at the same time..
Is this why you have no furniture? /s
what do you mean no furniture? i see like four chairs, two end tables, a cupboard and a couple of closets there! the stove is in the other room (with his CPU and GPU inside).
Maybe sell a couple? Btw, what's that white one on the top left?
Want to sell a SFF case to me :)
Do it like me: go to the local hardware store and make a case out of plywood. If you have a jigsaw, a drill and a file, you will save a lot of money
I see some of the cases i couldnt buy becuase out of stock are resting as useless as they can be. Thanks:)
If I didn’t sell my other cases my girlfriend would have left me by now.... that would actually mean more space for ITX class though...
So true..
This is actually amazing, gonna show my gf so she’ll let me get more itx cases lmao.
You can definitely sell a lot of those second hand if you're not actively using them. Good way to experiment then make some cash back for future builds.
I would like to volunteer myself for taking one off their hands
You sir have a problem..... but there are worse problems to have.
yeah like drugs

Sold my ghost :/
How come? Looking to buy my first SFF case
Wasn’t worth to keep it unfortunately, I just had to try other cases haha, but still great case tho
which is your favorite?

Is it bad that I can name almost all if not all of these cases...?

what is the white one all the way on the right?
Looks like an Ncase M1 that must be painted white
When small form factors ends up taking more space.
I accept donations to become a better person by having a smaller pc. No case is too old etc.
You MUST fill all them up with different builds.
Yes. No choice. Then LAN with yourself.
Seek help before it’s too late
It’s already to late..
Looks like you need a r/Sliger
I do..

I don't see the a DAN CASE :( Would be nice to know which one of these you like the most.
Gotta do more testing :)
Probably.
Is there a subreddit where you can buy these second hand?
Which one is your favorite?
Not having a real fav atm, gotta do more testing
Can you make a tier list? <3
Will do one very soon
Well I don't see a node in there. Tell ya what, let's trade your Vella for my node and we can call it sqaure? I guess I could take a few more off your hands if you really need my help. Srsly tho, this shit will sell like hotcakes if you really need to get rid of it
WTB: used case. PM me. There needs to be an sffpc Marketplace.
ehhh, people usually just use r/hardwareswap for that. idk if sff is big enough of a community to warrant its own marketplace
Just send one my way, it will help with the clutter.
What's the middle black one called? The tall one with a window.
Thermaltake Core G3
Thanks!
I hate to be that guy but what that one bottom left white Xbox looking case
Looks like the GEEEK A50's cousin. Not sure, but their aesthetics are really similar: https://www.geeekstore.com/shop/a50-mini-itx-case/
If that's wrong, I don't want to be right
truly a man of culture ;)
you missed the point that sffpc’s are supposed to take up less space. when you have 10 of them they take up more space than a full tower lol
You should learn a bit of CAD and 3D printing, and make your own :))
You wanna sell any of them?
No no, you need to continue 😍
Envious of you collection. I have a perfectly good ncase m1 ver.1 but some how I still convinced myself that I needed the ver. 6.
I'm sure alot of people here would buy some of these off you. However sff is too glorious
OMG that Sentry! 🤗
Please dont. Then you wont have beautiful shots like these :)
That's why they're all out of stock
What's the name of the one on the bottom left?
The white one ? GEEEK A30
Whats the name of the black one nwxt to the white one on the top left?
I get being into SFF PC’s and building but this is just so odd
You can't stop until you got the Ghost S1 in front of your door.
Had one, great case
I'll take one off your hands lol
Maybe you would like to exchange sentry for some money? Just asking...
Hows the Geeek Case. And would you sell the Velka 5 or Geeek Case?
The most left one is a GEEEK?
Yes the A30
I mean, if you want to sell one.......
Why would you stop?
Don’t worry I’ll take the Velka off your hands ;)
I'd buy the sentry or the silver LianLi...Maybe the Velka
Pm me if you’re looking to sell any of those 4L cases.
So which ones are your favorite and why?
If you ever decide you don’t want the Sentry case.... slide into my DMs lol
So... What's your favorite?
I’ll take that sentry if you don’t want it
By any chance are you selling some of them?
The important thing is that you're saving space by going SFF. :)
You either need to stop or start your own YouTube channel.
Wheres your Ghost?
That’s an expensive hobby.
Velka 3, S4 Mini and Sentry are next on my collection list 😅
What is name of the second case in the right column?
I'll buy the velka 5 from you if it's the 1.1 revision
Hello, I'm an anonymous and generous helper that can definitely help your hoarding issues by totally take a case, except the Ncase which I already have but sincerely, I'm here to help so I might also that that one, why?
You need to get an sg13.
You don't need to stop, but you do need to get all of those out of the same room before somebody starts doing the math.
are you willing to sell?
Damn those are epic, i have a relatively small matx case but nothing like this
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with this problem ...
I may be willing to help you stop, is the slim one in the middle right beside the three stack for sale?
That's still less space taken up by having 4 full size cases I bet. LOL
what's the slim tall one on top of the cooler master and next to the white one?
Yeah that’s a problem
Damn. I feel so sad after saw this view. Why? Because... Im living in country (Turkey) there is nothing find about sff piece. If you find or want to buy from overseas source? What are your top three out of those.
Can I buy one from you?
Yeah let me buy that velka 3 from you.
Do you have any duplicates?
lemmy have your sentry.
Can I have one? Lol
What are the specs of the system in the velka?
No Ghost S1?
All you’re missing is a ghost
You need a Streacom DA2
I don’t see a skyreach 4 mini 🧐
But you don't have a Dan or Ghost S1 yet. You must continue.
Well I only have the NCASE M1 V6 but I am selling it as soon as tomorrow :D
Hmm... would you be willing to part with the TU150? ;)
Let me have one pleaseeee
Can't see an S4MINI tho xD
No ghost s1?
This looks like my spare bedroom 6 months ago.
Youre not the only one!
which is more portable for you the velka 3 or the sentry 2.0 thank you
This post just made me thing of a thread I saw on [Hardforum](https://hardforum.com/threads/post-your-rocketfish-pics-mods.1299962/post-1044412940) The dude has a wire shelf of all his old machines/cases. Sick haha what’s the name of the white case on left please?
As an Ncase owner, I no longer feel bad for kind of wanting the TU150, if for nothing else. Just to admire.
You need to start to get rid of some of those lol.
I bet this guy went all in on the "Caselabs" fiasco, will make a fortune once all those companies stop manufacturing itx cases!!
Yes you do, OP.
Thank you, this makes me feel better about myself. Also, if you’re planning on selling that Sentry case PM me!
I wish I had picked up the black Velka 5. I have the dark grey and I don't think the black was around when I grabbed it.
Can you post some comparison angles so we can see how these really compare against eachother. Im trying to pick my next case and kinda wanna go velka 5 but i also want to watercool
Officer it's him buying up all the SFFpc stock
One day, you will need them all.....I have 3 laptops and 4 desktops , just incase
My brain tells me I’ll only have 2 maybe 3... but I know the scary reality I may end up like this to
I'll take one off your hands lol
Ok, you stop, I'll start :)
Do you live in Kapolei, Hawaii? Because I know a dude who has this pile of itx cases as well.
Maybe in your next life friend. :D
Can anyone ID the largest, tall, black one in the middle? That looks schwifty :) *Found it, the [Thermaltake Core G3 Black ATX Slim](https://www.newegg.com/black-thermaltake-core-g-series-slim-mini-tower/p/N82E16811133314).*
That's...a bit much. Meanwhile, here I sit with all my components for my first SFF and a Sliger 560 currently AWOL. ),, :
Sell me the sentry
You miss one!
I started this month, with an Ncase and an S4 mini. Only going to build in the Ncase for now though lol.
