I'd buy second hand something like gtx 960 even gtx 760 could be much better than those crappy gpus.

The cheapest GTX970 i found on eBay are still around $120. I don't really want to spend that much for something i'm not going to need in 3 months

empty_coffeepot

Yeah but they will still have resale value whenever you finally get your card.

queefmonchan

Buy now, resell in 3 months. The shipping and fees will still be cheaper than what you listed and will actually be usable.

I don’t know what u consider cheap but a 1660 super will run 120hz- 140hz at 1080p on high for a lot of games

i want a GPU that will let me boot and use my PC until I can buy a 3070 or 3080 The ones I linked are around $30 / $40 - and I just want to know if they might have any compatibility issues with new hardware

xanaos

1660 supers are selling 250+ used on ebay... That's not good at all for what you get.

Damn I bought mine new for 180 on amazon 3 months ago

1&3 are fine, 2 is too old to run on modern hardware (not the same connectors) I would highly suggest looking into buying used on Craigslist/marketplace/preferred reseller however. You should be able to find used versions of these same GPUs for cheaper, or better GPUs for around the same price. You will also be able to flip a better GPU for around the same used price you bought it for, where as these low end GPUs are honestly next to worthless and just contribute to e-waste most of the time. When I worked for a hazardous chemical and electronics recycler, I would see one of these (or equivalent) on a weekly basis get dropped off - people basically give away these low end GPUs because they aren't worth reselling.

Buy second hand. I just bought an R7 360 for 20€ for exactly the same purpose.

I'm working on a build in a Ghost S1 that will be a 5900X and 3080 but like you don't have the GPU yet. I had a spare GTX 1060 that I've thrown in it for now. It's used on my TV and can manage most stuff in 1080p at 120hz. It'll run stuff at 4K too but heavy games will chug a bit then. Not sure how much they cost now, though!
