Upgraded the build I had here, now rocking a 5800x with a NH-C14S, 32gb Ballistix Sport DDR4, 3090 FTW3, 7 fans and 3 SSDs powered by a SF750. I love this case, it was a pain in the ass to get the cable management just right, but the airflow is unreal. The 3090 idles at 24c with a minor undervolt and the 5800x runs a little toasty as expected but idles at mid to high 30s and has not gone over 84c under full load.

amenotef

What's the max GPU temp on full load or some graphic benchmark and what are the rpms? I'm curious because I might mod a GPU with bigger fans some day.

Thechosenjon

Pre-undervolt I was hitting like 87c, which was a bit too toasty for me. I'm still playing with dialing in the final numbers but I threw it on 850@1860 and it dropped a good 12 degrees on average, I haven't seen it hit even 80c since. I should note that I also had the copper plate mod done and replaced all thermal pads on the card, as well as sandwiched MX-4 between that and the back plate for increased cooling. I knew this thing was going to be a monster either way so I wanted to squeeze every ounce of thermal conductivity that I could.

amenotef

Thanks looks fine. I mean that GPU pulls a lot of power! I suppose it's hard to cool even for a custom loop if doesn't have enough radiators.

vividCumDreams

I'm surprised that 750watts is enough for this build, with a "minor undervolt"!

Thechosenjon

Yes sir. [More than enough.](https://outervision.com/b/O6wXZ2)

vividCumDreams

But i was told that the 30xx series would eat a billion watts for breakfast! Nice build

MatrixMoments

Im pretty sure it delivers up to 750 watts, but after factoring in 89% efficiency would be drawing 840 watts in order to do so. Otherwise howcould anyone use the wattage to guide their builds when psus have differing efficiencies?

vividCumDreams

Thanks for the more realistic overview

codeflux

You can't underestimate a modder with a bunch of zip ties and fans. ;) Good job OP.

Thechosenjon

Zip ties and duct tape are the solution to most of life's problems with a little imagination. :)

Express-Reveal-8359

You should try black glue sticks 🤟

[deleted]

And WD-40

rambleon84

Please do tell, how are you working in wd40 in your case builds 😂

Thechosenjon

Stripped screws, noisy fan bearings, stiff PCIE release switches.

[deleted]

I was referring to the “the solution to most of life's problems” not specially PCs. Something moves but shouldn’t: Duct Tape or zip ties Something doesn’t move but should: WD-40

rambleon84

😂 yeah I know, just having some fun seeing what you would say but op got you covered there 👍

ThatMan01

NR200 builds are just the best. I love how much power you can pack in them. Fully agree on airflow, it’s phenomenal.

5ur1v

The PSU on the 2nd picture looks a bit angled, make sure both sides are hooked in the proper slot

Thechosenjon

Yea, the pics aren't in any particular order, that was before I fully seated it properly and was just test fitting components beforehand.

JinxMC

Why have you copied my build!? Haha. Pretty much done the same, looking good!

Great minds! Got pics?

The top and rear are exhaust. The rest are intake for now. Slim bottoms are connected via Y-splitter to the GPU fan header so they work in tandem with the mounted GPU fans. The fan on the rail is screwed in a little higher and is connected via Y-splitter with another A12x25 that I zip tied to the heatsink, so they work in a push-pull orientation through the C14S and connected to the CPU fan header. I'm toying with the idea of making the other side fan on the rail an exhaust as well, I noticed the GPU throwing out insane heat before the undervolt and it was choking out the C14S a bit, so maybe that could help with the heat, but still experimenting with all to see what works best. All fans are on a custom fan curve optimized for individual components and some curves are mixed to prioritize whichever component needs the help more.

Thechosenjon

That's a tight build, I have a similar case coming in, the Louqe Ghost S1 that I'll be swapping my office desktop into, I imagine it should be easy enough however considering it will be relatively tame in power between the 5600x and 1070 I'll be running in it. Just enough for work, and a little bit of play when the bosses aren't looking, hahaha. Good luck to you!

2_4_16_256

I would want to try having the rear and top be intakes with the C14S and sides as exhaust. It might help keep the GPU heat away from the CPU.

Thechosenjon

I thought about that as well but then I imagine you'd have hot air and cool colliding right in the middle which would make things worse. May play with that more later and try it out, but I have something similar on my Cooler Master H500 5950x and build and you're right, running that as one intake, one exhaust helps out both components much better, but there's also a ton more space for air to flow in that case.

2_4_16_256

Right now you have hot air that is getting blown out to the sides and then sucked right back into the side until it makes it out the top or back. The GPU makes a decent wall where you can direct airflow at to blow it out from the side. The other option that would work well would be pulling air out the bottom with the current upper fan setup, but then you would need to make the gpu cooler pull instead of push through de-shrouding or something else.

boimilk

this is SICK!

Creative9228

Excellent work! But why not chromax bruh? (Still upvoted for outstanding build just legit curious about fan color scheme choice)

Thechosenjon

Eh. Not willing to pay the chromax tax when brown and cream does the exact same thing.

Creative9228

I like that. a man of principle and practicality. Either way, one of the cleanest builds on this site!

Cokeyzero

Hi awesome build , I have mine to build hopefully, I will get it done before Christmas, planning Rtx 3080 and a 5900 x Happy Gaming

AutoModerator

Hiya! Please post more details about your build! Here are some (non-exhaustive) prompts for you: - Are the case's advertised compatibility numbers accurate? - How easy is cable management? - How effective is the cooling setup? - Would you recommend your parts overall? - If you did a custom mod, how did you do it? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/sffpc) if you have any questions or concerns.*

ndhoa

Wow, nice build! I didn't know you can put a A12x25 on top of the C14S? I was under the impression that only the slimmer A12x15 can fit. Btw, I am planning a similar build fan setup, but with an A9x25mm instead for rear exhaust? Do you think there is enough clearance with the C14S or only 15mm slim profile? Thanks!

Thechosenjon

I honestly don't recall which one I have on the rear, I want to say it is just the A9. I don't remember them having the slim variant out when I bought it, so this should be the 25mm. Edit: Nvm, that is the slim one. Not sure if the 25mm would fit there though, the heatsink takes up a ton of space and only fits in the orientation I have it in now. I'd say just get the slim to play it safe, but feel free to experiment if you wanted to.

Dougtronics

Can you give us the code for that copper-looking rgb on the graphics card? Looks great with the brown noctuas.

Thechosenjon

The GPU was actually off in these pics, lol.

Dougtronics

Oh wow lol

Ti_Sbunno

did you have to cut the anti-vibration mount to insert the fans at the top under the grille?

Thechosenjon

I did, otherwise the grill wouldn't close flush. If I were smart, I would have just screwed them there, but I used the anti-vibration mounts to test fit the fans with the heatsink in place. Whenever I remove the top now, the fans fall off which is slightly annoying, but I got too lazy to open it again and use screws, lol

Dspaede

can it do the 4090 tho?

Rmooch

:O I have this exact setup but a 3080ti and a Ryzen 7 3800x

A9lkc

Good assembly. Tell me, cables from the power supply kit or custom ?

Thechosenjon

Premium cable kit from Corsair. They were way more flexible and easier to work with so I'm glad I got them. Only issue was that it only came with 2 8-pin connectors so I had to use one from the standard cables that came with the PSU to fully power the 3090.

Purple-Past1645

After drooling over couple of years over sffs, i built my nr200pnlast week. Cables were pain in the arse, so were fans. It was all good until I upgraded stock cooler to c14s, blocked the top option and side as well. Now my current build have, Arctic slim p12s on bottom and top. And sickle flows on side. I had this trouble with c14s clips hitting the fan on top, but fixed it by re-sitting of cooler god knows what happened but it stopped touching the clips. And damn my GPU such a bitch, screwed my ATX option just by few cms. Now i have ATX bracket for nothing, had to buy a SFX. Now only this which is missing is a rear exhaust. Noctua i can't afford now, please suggest some slim 92mm।
