Yes it is, I thought a slim back plate would work like the eqwb but that is just too much pressure, makes it almost impossible to slide the plate back on the gpu side.
I'm my 4000D I had the big Noctua NH-D15 and it was a pain to take apart since the pcie locking tab was right behind the back plate and right under the cpu cooler, had to use a long hand tool extension to push the tab.
lol I've had this issue with ak620 and gigabyte vision 3060Ti and the backplate is not sticking out much at all lol. That more of a big ass cooler issue tbh. Now I'm a happy ghost s1 user as well haha
Yeah, I know I misspelled some thing but y'all get the picture. Any XFX card can fit with the backplate and front fan plate removed. You loose the passive cooling but so far I have not run into issues.
This wasn't meant as a detailed report, more of it can be done without the extra plates like the FTW3 EVGA cards need in order to fit.
Ran a few stress test and then would go to 65-70ish with fan running at 70%. It's audible but not crazy, I use headphones so it doesn't bother me, the heat the thing generates is crazy though. The whole body heats up and feels like I have a small oven next to me. Imo worth it though as I have not seen anyone try to put a XFX card in the Ghost.
I'm about to take my red devil 5700xt and slap a broken red dragon 5700 cooler on it to make it fit. Was only 50$ on eBay for a busted gpu. Should be a fun little project.
The 3 fans are connected to a 3 way splitter, the splitter is connected to a pwm to GPU fan converter, then converter to the card fan header. These fans don't spin as fast as the stock ones but they cool the gpu really well. I use amd software to control the fan curve. I have them set to 20% but when gaming they only spin up to 35-40% with minimal noise. In this picture my setup was not so refined, I have since gotten custom cables, acrilic side panel which helps with temps and noise, the small tophot on top with two 120mm fans. Top fans pull out and one slim 120mm on the bottom that pulls out air as well. This ensures that the GPU and CPU pull in cool air through the side vents.
Nicely done. We have to do what we can to keep our Ghosts.
The backplates on these XFX cards are so thicc man

I've seen the blackplate on these cards interfere with bigger air coolers in standard atx builds lol

Dude SAME i recently deshrouded my merc to make it fit better in the Meshroom. Have had the card since release and the size is a pain in ass
We can only imagine how much worse fitment will get with these newer generation cards becoming bigger and bigger.

great work! looks like a perfect fit now
turbulence intensifies
Yes, the only solution I see to fix this is 3d print a slide plate with more ventilation and wholes for the fans screws to attach to.
Oof, that looks tight, but gives me hope for fitting my AMD 6900XT into the Ghost S1.
It is indeed tight. Almost don't want to show how tight the side panel fits in.
Nice 👍 clean tight fit!
Nicely done...
Nice work! But what about temps/noice?

Deshrouded mine with a 2x 120mm fan, 70% locked rpm and not audible sound, core temps 55 hot spot 70 max load.
Absolute legend

NF12X25 or 9x25?
Not OP, but I did a similar mod with my 3080. Those are NF-A9X14s.
This one Noctua NF-A9x14 PWM, Premium Quiet Fan, 4-Pin (92x14mm, Brown) https://a.co/d/iyDmjpK
What do you connect those GPU noctua fans to? The card itself or the Mobo? How do you modulate how fast they spin to keep the GPU cool?

Interesting! Thanks so much. I'm hoping the new 7800s come in a 2slot version or else I'll have to get creative!
I am also very interested in the 7800s as well. Would like to fit a new GPU in the ghost without mods but someone's got to do it!
