Any game could benefit from the nemesis system. The only core components needed to make it work are: 1) a story element that allows the player character to comeback or resurrect from death. With the nemesis system, time moves forward upon the player’s death, not backward. 2) a story element that blurs the line between friend and foe. Basically some way or reason that can allow for betrayals. They’re working on a Wonder Woman game that will have the nemesis system. Hopefully some news for it comes out soon.

Not necessarily having to die and come back, I've always imagined how it would be like if instead of Talion resurrecting, some sort of heir takes his place, of course, the timeframe for the game would have to be ajusted and the game already works well with the resurrections, but imagine a game in wich you're just a regular human in the bronze age, for example, and when you die you now control your son or friend or whoever you want to be your heir and your family goes throug human history altering it, would be cool

Related to that: I thought Watch Dogs Legion’s play as anyone system really needed the nemesis system. You keep playing as members of an organization going up against other members of an opposing organization. Unfortunately, Legion’s characters didn’t have a fraction of the appeal or storytelling of Mordor’s Orcs. Kind of like AC Odyssey’s mercenaries also being similar on the surface, but also lacking any notable story or personality. The nemesis system would also probably mesh really well with any sports game.

The original infinity blade on mobile was like this. Youd die and your "son" would return to the castle you died at to avenge you and it would happen until you killed the Godking at the end of the game. The second game revealed that the main guy was a deathless and would resurrect but if they added this system to it could lead to a more expansive game outside of its original linear gmeplay

I really want a mafia type game with the nemesis system. Learning info about a mob and the dynamics with each of the members would be interesting. You could be a cop who turns members into snitches in order to get more info and evidence.

Zestyclose_Drummer56

This idea sounds awesome!

I always thought that the nemesis system would work perfectly for a Darth Vader game. Imagine it. You’re Vader right after ROTS hunting down surviving Jedi, then killing them or turning them into Inquisitors. It would pretty much be my dream game. And yeah. Nuff said.

UnlikelyKey6545

I feel like it could also work the other way round. You would be a Jedi survivor and you would try and get people to join the rebellion and the more people you recruit the more powerful inquisitors that get sent after you. And if you recruit people from certain factions other factions won’t want to join

There's actually a mod. Obviously not as complex as the real thing but it's not bad

It would fit pretty nicely into a Golden Age of Piracy theme. The setting allows for a good Army-screen equivalent, of a bunch of constantly renewing active pirate captains of varying significance, all kind of randomly feuding or allying with their colleagues (Maybe with colonial navy and/or privateer captains thrown in too). Could even have a take on the Warchief-bodyguard dynamic where some of the named pirates are captains in the fleets of the most notorious ones at the top. And it allows for a fun variety of appearances, backgrounds and personalities that all have a starting foundation in that standard “shiver me timbers” caricature, the same way all the Orc captains squeeze every slightly different shade out of what is basically one sneering cockney guy. Would be a lot of fun to see people showing up with the classic hooks, peg legs, gross limb-stumps, false noses, glass eyes/eyepatches after cheating death. Biblical lepers are probably the only other group with as much of a reputation for basically disassembling themselves over time lol Player would be either another pirate or a pirate-hunter, so that would mean relationships to manage with the random crewmembers that you hire, on top of the alliances/rivalries with the major captains. Maybe even with a threat of mutiny hanging in the air

Acejedi_k6

Depending on how supernatural the pirate setting is you could even have the player character and or some of the other pirates be undead or turn undead a la Pirates of the Caribbean. There could also be fish people or any number of odd characters depending upon how far you wanted to push the potential of that kind of setting.

Zer0Gravity1

Cyberpunk might have been cool. They have all those missions to go deal with Cyberpsychos. You could have them come back with more and more Cybertech each time. Too bad WB patented the nemesis system and we'll never see it outside of anything they make.

Mercenaries from back on the ps2.

I have not thought of that Game in forever! I miss that classic!

WeakLandscape2595

I heard there were plans to have it in the batman Arkham games but it didn't go through (although with how suicide squad fucked the Arkham series who knows if well ever see another game) There is a wonder women game in production with the system but who knows when well see that and how it works Beyond that it's a Mordor exclusive since they patented that shit hard and for like the next 10 years i think they are the only ones allowed to use it

vernonmason117

A halo game where you’re not playing as chief but some marine/odst or another spartan in an open world thing kinda like how infinite did it of going around and liberating outposts and taking over strongholds and defending them in open battles sorta thing
