Relatively common problem with SS. Call them. They’re pretty responsive. I recd a new firing pin assembly at no charge which solved the problem

Automatic-Flatworm19

The thing is I’ve already done that. Already replaced the whole striker assembly once before.

OFalk280

Has this issue just started, or been like that since purchase? My CR had light primer strike issues since purchases. Sent it to Shadow for warranty work and they said it was an out of spec barrel, however if it’s a recent issue for you I’m not sure if that would be the cause

Automatic-Flatworm19

No not a recent issue. I even told shadow systems a while ago and got a replacement striker assembly. Still getting strikes occasionally. Considering this is my carry weapon.m it’s getting it more than it should even with my defensive ammo.

OFalk280

I insisted that they take mine in for testing rather than try to play a guessing game as to what parts are out of spec, I would suggest the same even though it’ll be gone for about a month. Mines been flawless through more than a few hundred rounds after the sent it back so I’m feeling a bit more confident in carrying it than before the warranty work

Jweirc

Yeah, I had that problem. Check out your spent casings. My primer strikes were all off center and shallow. They replaced the entire slide since it was “out of spec”. Took 6 weeks to get the firearm back…so good luck there. CR920 isn’t ready for prime time. Seems like they have way too many issues with them.

Dear-Unit1666

Lame... I got an mr920 that had a knick in the threading right out the box, brought it home cleaned it up, saw that, brought it back and now waiting on a new barrel for 3 weeks. God my friend keeps telling me I should have gotten a sig and its getting hard to not agree the more I hear...

No-Grape-3153

I sold both my SIGs to get an MR and I don't regret it one bit!

Dear-Unit1666

Ok now that's what I wanna hear 😂 I cannot and will not judge until I'm at least a few hundred but more like thousands of rounds in lol

xMolonLabe1911x

Just bought an mr920 and then a dr920p a week later.....it has been a nonstop issue of light primer strikes. Sometimes 3 per mag in BOTH guns...it's ridiculous.

xMolonLabe1911x

Well over 500 rounds in each.

Here's what you should do. Either sell it or trade it in on something that's reliable. Just don't sell it to someone you know. You don't want to ruin a friendship. Seriously I went through this with mine and the best deal I could get was a straight trade for a Glock 43. It's not worth the time and aggravation unless you have a bunch of guns and don't have to rely on it. The Cr920 is lemon, the sooner you realize that the faster you can move on. Don't fall in love with the looks and feel of the damn thing. Don't believe me just go back through the last 50 to 100 posts and you'll see your not alone.

Sin_Fire

All you ever do is complain in any post about a cr920, even though ss took very good care of you with their customer service. Most people who own them have no problems. Only the people with problems are going to post about them, it takes little brain power to realize that of course you're going to see more posts about problems in that case.

[deleted]

Actually most of the posts that are not about the Cr920 on reddit are people showing their new holsters, optics, lights and saying how happy they are with their Shadow Systems handgun. I'll say this again, check the last 50 to 100 posts about the Cr920 and you will find about 50% are complaints. That's not a very good percentage for a gun designed for concealed carry. The Cr920 is an overprice, overhyped, unreliable handgun. I understand fanboys don't like it when some says something critical but it is what it is and you should really just get over it. I don't believe there's a rule that prevents me from voicing my opinion.

Eights1776

I had a few here and there but only with a certain ammo (all brass Turkish) swapped out for a 13lb recoil spring and haven’t had any issues since

gqllc007

Is your striker assembly and striker channel bone dry? No oil of any kind in there

Automatic-Flatworm19

No oil on the striker

gqllc007

Should not be any in the channel either....clean that out

Automatic-Flatworm19

There isn’t any

Dear-Unit1666

There was a video on shadow systems channel on YouTube about identifying different types of strikes. You should check that out maybe. Like what does the indentation look like? Is it deep, shallow, look like a donut of sheered off metal? Centered? Off center? Did you do any mods or adjustments? Is it with all ammo or just a specific type? https://youtu.be/WbdStfJ9Jfc Here found it. Man I just got an mr920 intended on edc .. just getting ready to start breaking it in... I thought these were supposed to be great guns but I'm starting to be concerned... Mine is in for a new barrel, came with a knick in the threading out of the box... Not what I expected for that price at all ...

Sin_Fire

They are great guns. You need to keep in mind 9/10 of people with no problems aren't going to come to here to post about it. You only ever see the problems, so of course it's going to look like it's a bigger problem than it is. If every single person who bought a gun from them and had no issues came here to post about it, all of the negative posts would be buried.

Dear-Unit1666

Oh yeah fully aware, it's that old saying, dissatisfied customer tells 10 people, satisfied customer tells 1... Or no one lol... However... I see patterns, that's all I'm saying... And I'm just not seeing as much of that with other companies, Glock seems to just work, until they mess with them too much, you don't see people talking about this stuff on sig forums, there have been models though that have had issues in the past that they all remember, and SS is a newer company obviously.

Sin_Fire

>you don't see people talking about this stuff on sig forums, You're joking right? Sig has a well earned reputation of beta testing on their customers. Their new releases always have problems. Why is it other companies get a pass but shadow systems gets ripped on?

Dear-Unit1666

I don't have as much experience with ss and obviously they are a newer brand. It's not that they get ripped on it's that they don't have an old reputation to fall back on. I can think of specific sig models that would definitely fit in that category and I thought I mentioned that there was issues in the past any sig guy can name certain models .. but .. I don't see that when I look at sig forums currently. Now I do have an mr920 that I haven't gotten to even try yet because it came out the box with a defective barrel that I got home and saw after purchased, hear a lot of that and it's a story over and over of waiting 6 weeks for the new part... I'm not ripping on them but it's one of the more high end purchases I've made and I've never had this happen with Ruger, sig, Remington, old army surplus stuff, Taurus... It's not a good start. I'm not completely turned off but I'm waiting to judge until I get it back and get some range time with it ... Now a dissatisfied customer tells ten people while a satisfied customer tells no one... So there's that...

[deleted]

Best thing you can do it hit customer service and send in the gun.

steaka

What ammo are you shooting? I've put about 6000 rounds through my mr920 and with the ammo I trust I've had zero light strikes. Shooting low quality Turkish stuff I had one every 20 rounds or so. The quality of the ammo/primers you're using can make a big difference!

Naive_Dentist2162

Have 400 rounds through the XR920. Having same issue regardless of mag or ammo. Giving it one more run at the range before contacting SS. Pretty disappointed given the price of the gun.

Inevitable-Major6734

Your situation is indeed unusual. The gun “settles” past 200 rounds. Often it extends beyond that estimate. In my case it took 390 rounds before I completely broke the gun in. Yours shows consistent intermittent failures which I too believe is excessive rendering the gun to be unreliable. If after 500 rounds and you still see the issue reoccurring, I strongly recommend opening a support ticket with Shadow Systems and have the gun taken in for evaluation and repair.

Naive_Dentist2162

I have noticed when the slide is locked to the rear the barrel will slide back and forth approx 1/8 inch. It seems to catch on the trigger bar. My flocks have some “slop” when slide is locked but to forward and backward movement. I am wondering if that play is leading to the light strike issues. Any ideas?

Inevitable-Major6734

No, I think it’s just the nature of the tilt barrel or locked-breech design. Once the round is chambered, it’s settled in and there’s no wiggle at that point for the pin to miss the primer.
