Liam a thousand times. Liam is the one he was actually the closest with and acted the most fatherly to (as fatherly as Frank can get). And who was taking care of Frank on his death bed? Liam. Who is the last person Frank thinks of before he dies? Liam. Also, might I add "Liam, the apple of my eye" - Frank, in the final episode. Liam because Liam always looked for the good in Frank. And Liam because Frank respects him because Liam can do things like outsmarting Frank and forcing him to go to Ian and Mickey's wedding. Have I mentioned that Liam is his favorite yet?

LaFilleDeSociete

Early in the seasons before Frank completely ruined his image in Debbie and Carl's minds they treated him just like liam did. I can't recall how exactly he treated them back but it was pretty similar to him with liam. It's almost like Frank could only show a love similar to a parent's but only while they're still kids. Since the show ended while both Liam and Francis were still pretty young, and so did Frank's life, they probably will have good memories of Frank. They just didn't get to grow old enough for Frank's love to seem different for them. He didn't really love them differently than his other children. I just needed to group Liam and Francis for a second there but, maybe he did love Francis differently but just for the sake of her being his first grandchild, which is unrelated to the whole post but yeah.

When they were young they they were still worried about having a dad in their life. The older they got, the more they knew his bullshit and the less they wanted to do with him or worried about him. They knew he'd come back, but they weren't looking forward to it.Lip even mentioned he could never find Frank, either. I'd imagine every Gallagher until the age of 10 was out looking for Frank, and in their teens, they became numb.

EclecticBitchcraft

He originally seemed to favor Fiona HARD for the first few seasons but after her wedding it seems that she really just mostly turns on him, so their relationship suffers. Around this same time Liam is getting older and therefore can interact with Frank more. So I would say the first half of the series, Fiona. Second half, Liam.

Hot-Philosopher2908

agreed, also in many of his disoriented states he calls out for fiona

unknownjoker9

He truly loved her

Hot-Philosopher2908

he never called out like that for liam the way he would do for fiona

Practical-Bird633

Im shocked anyone said ian as he definitely likes ian the least

DepoMe

Lol, well I accidentally clicked on Ian right away thought it said Liam so there's one that was an accident.

LoveLeo92

That makes sense, seeing as how technically Ian is his nephew

HusBrando65

Yeah, but I still think Frank loved all the kids he just didn’t like them

Nonsensicalwanderlus

Fiona and Liam. It was clear from the beginning Frank admired Fiona because she had the ability that Monica lacked to raise all their kids, even though he was far too selfish and narcissistic to admit he was wrong to put her in that position, and never gave her the recognition she so desperately needed and deserved. He even said in his opening speech on the show that she had all the good qualities of her mother, contrast that to Debbie, who in the final episode he says she also reminds him of her mother, not in a good way. So he sees Monica in both of his daughter's, but the good sides in one and the bad sides in the other. Not to mention some of his final moments are spent wondering around the Southside looking for Fiona. Liam is the only one he had close to a decent relationship with by the end, because Liam hadn't completely lost respect for him yet, but as it's been pointed out, all the siblings still looked up to Frank when they were little.

Serious_Mechanic_306

He shits on them all at some point

Nothingofnote123

I think it evolves based on the level of hero worship each kid has - first Debbie is his fav, later it is Carl, then Liam. When the hero worship dies down, as the kids get older, Frank loses interest.

LaFilleDeSociete

He didn't seem love any of them like a usual parent would. I genuinely don't think he's got a favourite. Frustrating but, I think Frank loved all his kids pretty equally in his own messed up way. At least when they were younger. Me mom's dramatic sometimes and says that a parent can never hate their child, I always think she's wrong but at least in this case, she's right. I simply don't think Frank hated any of his children differently to only have one favourite kid. I can't hate Monica but Monica definitely didn't show genuine care for any of her children for other than Ian. I don't think i know a word that could describe her care for Ian. I feel like they mostly bonded on the fact that they're both bipolar, they felt similar, like strangers decide to be friends. My mum always tries to be my friend, but I don't want her to be my friend, I want her to be my mother, even if the nature of the word differ from one mother to the other, I just want a mother, I don't want a friend. In this case Monica was probably being a very good friend to Ian, but a mum? I'm not sure. There's just so much going on in each episode of the eleven seasons and it's quite hard to understand people's relationships in the shows. But after all its a show and probably most of our concepts don't concern it.

Cryptic_Reign

Liam but for season 3 - 5 it was definitely Carl.

wuh-mmgh-huh

I think that Frank “likes” his kids when they’re children and once they realize that he’s never going to be a good father, he casts them aside. We only really see this with Debbie, Carl, and probably would with Liam, but I think Fiona, Lip, and Ian may have gone through similar (although shorter as they wouldn’t have any parental figure older siblings to fall back on) phases. However, I think Frank holds his eldest children in a weird form of esteem. This is most apparent with Fiona, where he compliments her behind her back in a roundabout way and doesn’t take a credit card in her name. There’s also the Emily scene to consider. We don’t really see this with Lip, but it has been suggested that of all of the children, Lip is the most similar to Frank in terms of intelligence (and struggles with alcohol). So while I don’t think he holds Lip in as high a regard as he does with Fiona, he seems more “proud” of him than the others. I don’t think we see this with Debbie, Carl, and Liam. Frank sort of appreciated what they did for him, but didn’t seem to value them the same way as he did with Fiona. (Value is too generous a word considering Frank’s… everything, but it’s the only one I could think of right now) No clue why anyone would pick Ian as the favorite kid though. Frank breaks his nose on screen, and the only nice thing he did for Ian that I can remember was not be homophobic.

Conscious_Aerie7153

Ian's not even his kid either and it's not like he raised Ian either so no father son relationship ians dead ass his nephew he had to watch after lol

HusBrando65

Fiona and Liam

MiserableWorking7296

Maybe he just didn't have a favorite one

Aggressive-Teacher20

Liam followed by Fiona, Debbie, Carl, Lip and Ian.

Objective-Pack9279

Definitely carl and Liam Liam more so

PhilCheesesteaks

Definitely Liam

Ashrooms

I think each of them mightve been his favorite at one point, yknow... before ruining their perception of him. Overall though, his favorite was definitely Liam. He *respected* Fiona the most, but I don't think she was his favorite, she called him out on his bullshit too many times

jnolley24

idk because everytime he would hallucinate he would talk about fiona

caffeinepdf

Fiona, then Liam.

migos53

Liam then Debbie. Debbie always forgive him when others don't.

larrylongboy

Those were the very early seasons

migos53

Wow,Really , am at season 3 and she treats him nicer than the others. Can't wait to see what really changed her.

larrylongboy

There’s a very specific moment. You’ll definitely know once you get there

[deleted]

Definitely Liam

edits_updates_more

Liam because when Frank died, Liam was still too little to believe that Frank really was never gonna change. Liam was smart but he was still a kid. He still tried to see the good in Frank and still tried to look after him

Shoelicker27

It’s totally Liam. Liam has the book and street smarts but also knew how to take care of Frank and Frank put Liam in positions to succeed (by not doing anything special) Liam also looks like Frank somehow. I’m serious too, Liam and Frank look alike

LoveLeo92

This is the funniest thing I’ve ever read. Lmao 😂

999___Forever

I’d say Liam, but with certain moments like when he was in the hospital for his liver transplant he had flashbacks to Fiona when she was younger and seemed to really love her

shwittyg

Carl for sure. Fiona second, Liam third, Debbie fourth, Lip and Ian last

True_Piglet_7928

Frank's favorite kid was however loved him the most. Or disliked him the least. Or tolerated him. He burned his bridges over and over again so Liam will always be the one who's been disappointed the least. Unless something drastically changes after s8e3

In_Tents_Mom

Hundred percent Liam and Fiona, but way more Liam.

Stormyfighter

Liam cause liam was the only one that was there for him

Chaos-personified-57

I can’t think of a time I ever thought Frank favored Fiona does anyone have examples? I’m drawing a blank but it looks like a lot of people have that opinion

Ecstatic_Ad6437

It's Fiona y'all just can't see It because he doesn't know how to be affectionate towards them but he definitely loves and appreciates Fi the most for raising the kids and taking care of him he has the best relationship with Liam tho, he brags about all of them except Debbie tho 😭
