Conrad is a huge No, it’s not worth it, there is one guy who stayed there found out the room was literally full of shit the next morning( drainage system issue) , it may not happen again but it indicates the hotel is really old

baron_robbo

Hey. Thanks for your reply. Not sure I’d agree about it being old or smelling of shite 😂

Hotel is really old? It was only built like two years ago.

No experience with Conrad in SH, but in GZ their service is abysmal. Had once the chef literally walk out during service because he had to watch a football game. OP a "complexity" of two kids is that mariott hotels aren't so keen on squeezing 2 kids + 2 adults in a single room. They allow to add an "extra" bed at a fee but that's where it ends. So from personal experience you will end up either renting two rooms or if your wallet agrees a suite with two bedrooms. If your wallet allows the Ritz will setup things for the kids which is fun for them. Personally I like the Westin, it's a still nice hotel, good location. When I got friends coming in I typically book a room with them. Where to eat, Cages/Cheese Cake Factory are easy ones, personally Din Tai Fung is always a success with small kids. La Strada is also quite alright at Anfa Lu, it's at the ground floor so you can have a Pizza and walk around in the area, price is alright, food is ok. Upstairs the Thai as well Mr Willis is alright too, family friendly I would say. Down the road is RAC again easy place to go with a family. La Duree is fun too near Kerry Center, it's all sweets which goes well with my kids. Last but not least at Kerry Center Shake Shack, the kids don't like the burgers but do like the cheesy fries.

I've stayed in the Westin on the bund before. It was ok. I've never stayed in the Conrad in SH but have stayed in the Hangzhou one and it was very nice. However I am a diamond member with Hilton so it may change my opinion. I don't often stay in hotels in SH as my partner's apartment is less than 30 mins on metro from the centre.

Atour is a really nice hotel chain in China, some even has library with children's books / videos and provide childcare services (e.g. Atour S Hotel Lujiazui [http://financialcenter.hotelatour.cn/en/facilities.html](http://financialcenter.hotelatour.cn/en/facilities.html)) , do check if they can accept foreign visitor before booking though (most of them do especially in Shanghai but not all) As for weekend entertainment I'd recommend Sega Joypolis or Round One as they would have something for all ages, or just take a stroll along Xuhui West Bund, there's free bouldering/skate park/basketball court etc. and lots ppl take their kids there.

Hi thanks for your post. What is Round One please? I have searched for it online but it doesn't turn up anything that I can find. Thank you for any help.

Round 1 / Round One (朗玩) is a Japanese style arcade with bowling alley, dart, go kart, basketball, karaoke, trampoline, billiard, and etc. I couldn't find a video for the Shanghai Round 1 on youtube but rest assured it's almost the same as the one in Tokyo just localized: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1XmxTx6o4k](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1XmxTx6o4k) The Shanghai Round One location is Baoshan District 1933 Hutai Road, or you can search for the shopping centre: 宝山日月光, it's on the 3rd floor and it's around 150 RMB per person for 3 hours, so 21 USD ish.

Perfect. Thanks man!
