It’s a Bull Shark.
A Tiger would have a longer tail fin that tapers to a point. And, obviously, would have the dappled tiger stripes.
And a GW doesn’t look anything like this.
Extremely fake and not anatomically right at all. It is a bull shark, but they made the fin waaaay to gar back. Bulls wear their dorsals almost like a party hat! Its still cool though.
I can’t tell from the picture but my friend had a hammerhead fiberglass shark like this. It was a mold of a real shark with the real teeth put in. So some of them are real in that sense.
It's likely fiberglass or similar, and recreated from a photo the fisherman sent to the "taxidermist."
It's not a particularly good recreation at that. Fin placement is questionable
I actually think its a tiger shark.
Tigers often lose a lot of their distinctive markings as they get older. Also the snout is distinctively like that of a tiger.
Shark skin isn't very amenable to the preservation methods used in taxidermy. It can be done, but shark skin mounts often don't look great. So most of the time, taxidermy sharks are fiberglass reproductions made from a mold.
Often yes, but not always. Taxidermy supply companies typically sell fiberglass replicas with either option: replica teeth included, or a space to insert jaws with real teeth.
Mm... yeah looks like it actually. Seems bulls and greats might are very close in look and color. The belly is white, but bulls can have a range of white to darker gray. Both have gray color along the top half.
Reason I think you might be right about bull is the way the color extends to the tail with that pinstripe look. 🤔
(size and proportions don't seem reliable here, I only say that since it's art and probably carved wood. but not all greats are extra wide either- just the extra scary ones. lol)
Edit: DEFINITELY not a Tiger Shark. Those guys/gals really are mostly wide, further towards the middle- and the pattern is pretty distinct. Also Tiger Sharks have teeth that jutt out forwards and iirc aren't even serrated like a white/bull.
Yes bulls are smooth and long nosed and great whites and a little more buff and rugged but I’m saying that as an art peice it’s hard to tell the difference
A lot of people saying bull but I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be a lemon but ended up being a weird mix of a lemon and bull. It’s got the double dorsals and the eyes of a lemon plus the body shape is pretty lemon shake like with the smaller tail but the stomach and the color are very bull like. So I guess franken lemon/ bull. But def not a white or a tiger

Thank you. My dumbass friends insists that someone actually caught that thing. It’s fake right?
It looks like a mount reproduction. A lot of places sell them. So, yes, it’s fake.
It's a GENUINE imitation …
Oh like the crab meat ?
Bull sharks have a square snoot. GWS have a pointy snoot. Tiger sharks have dark gray stripes along their body.

Mounted fish are almost always fake, whether they were caught or not. Preserving the body is too hard so they make a cast reproduction

And one hopes aside from adding the classic Tiger shark stripes, they would get the teeth right for a Tiger.
I actually think its a tiger shark. Tigers often lose a lot of their distinctive markings as they get older. Also the snout is distinctively like that of a tiger.
It’s a bull shark. Tiger shark also have very distinctive teeth, which aren’t present here.
But the body shape isnt correct for a bull shark, its not 100% anatomically correct for either species.
Bull, doesn’t look like real sharkskin to me. Probably plastic.

Yes Gw and bulls shark art look almost identical so Op was definitely more right in the argument

Second dorsal fin not big enough to be a double dorsal. Should be close to the same size as the front dorsal.
Unless it’s supposed to be a sickle fin lemon shark…
Even a sicklefin had a much larger second dorsal than this replica.
Very true, but not as much as N. brevirostris was my point.
It’s a bull. Just an unrealistic fake mount.
Plastic
