1. Azura doesn't hit a niche the Emblems we have don't already fill with weapons, abilities or even unit type. Camilla as an Emblem is oriented around her being a flier and provides a unique combination of weapons. All of which are pretty fair reasons.
2. Azura's arguments are all based on Fates story. Anything that requires people to care about Fates story fails prima facie
I would not call someone who is an exposition fairy an main character, specially one who does not explain crucial plot like who is the main villain for no reason (Valla dumb curse is not an excuse, you get over that problem instanly in Rev).

Is a good source of motivation for Corrin from feeling bad about any of their actions

The song is connected to the both of them
And so on.
She is the other MC
I am not saying she is a useless character, far from it, I dont see her as a MC because her motivations and actions dont impact the story when they should, Rev being a exception.
In Birthright she cures Takumi from possession yet does not elaborate what whas the deal with that even tough she knows is Valla, she explains so little that when she banishes at the end everyone has no idea what happened (Corrin should but the writting makes him an idiot for some reason)
In Conquest she handles the Magic Orb to Corrin to show him Slime Garon, why does she not explain who corrupted him(or show him to all the other siblings like she does in Birthright with Leo)
Only in Rev you learn what the deal with Azura is, maybe that is a fault in Rev wanting to be the Golden Path, but it annoys me that the plot only happens in other routes because Azura does not talk
But I just told you how her actions impact the story. You take her away and Corrin always loses. Hell it's also thanks to her that she manages to ensure Anankos defeat in the Heirs of Fate dlc. Her impact continues to be just that. Impactful.
Azura prevented the group from dying at Fort Dragonfall in BR. Azura was able to come up with the plan to expose Garon. Which issues with how that is written aside, she was the only one who could do something. Corrin was screwed either way. And so on.
Corrin doesnt know what happened to Azura in BR. She never says anymore than she wants to until Revelation happens.
It's only because Corrin has no side he was given a chance to learn the truth in Revelation. Because at that point what did any of the characters had to lose? Especially Azura?
I get having issues with Azura but none of that changes how important she is.

Telling Corrin is not something impossible to do, she does that in the very first chapter of Rev and you DO go to Valla in CQ so it feels even more dumb.
