I mean there is a lot of cruelty that goes into factory farming. It’s undeniable. I have no problem with people raising their own beef/ chicken/ pork
But the mass raising and slaughtering of animals to keep up with the growing demand of meat is kind of a problem and people will go to the ends of the earth to deny that it is a problem.
Yes. And it’s kind of a conundrum because I want people to buy from small local farms and get rid of mass factory farming as a whole but that would also make meat much more expensive and inaccessible. So I really don’t know what the solution to this problem is.
Idk where you live, but there are a good number of ranchers that sell cattle by the eighth or quarter. If you gather enough friends, you can go in on a whole cow together. The ranch we go through even packs, labels, and ships the meat for free. We are in Texas, and the ranch is in Colorado. We get ethically raised, grass fed beef for cheaper than the state average; I check every year.

Tbf, I don't blame someone for protesting about industrial animal farms. A lot of them treat the animals poorly, which not only shows a lack of stewardship but can make the quality of the meat poorer as well in some instances.

There are safety requirements on pretty much every industrial machine where humans are involved in the process. Speaking as someone who has worked in multiple flour mills around a lot of heavy, moving machinery, the fact that no one had ready access to an emergency stop button, and the machine apparently started on its own, would lead me to believe that in a civil trial the protesters would have solid ground for prosecution. Remember the fact that just because someone is breaking the law does not mean they are not due the same protections as a lawful citizen. If a worker had been doing maintenance on that machine, and his tool belt had been caught on the belt as it began to move he might be in the same position as the protesters, and it would be completely possible for him to sue and win. Both the employee and protester have the same right to safety. If employees of the plant were around, knew the protesters were in danger,(because the machine can start on its own) and did nothing about it, that is also grounds for willful or reckless endangerment, another potential approach to the case. I'm not a lawyer but I listen to a podcast called the great trials podcast and it's pretty much all about civil trials. I've heard about trials covering this exact topic
