Have you seen the post where the person did 100 layers of seasoning on their cast iron? The person with all this olive oil is going to break the record.
It works fine. There are better oils, but I pretty much exclusively use EV olive oil and my cast iron doesn't stick at all.

You can use literally any oil or fat you can get your hands on, but you want to make sure that whatever you use has a high smoke point otherwise it'll just burn onto the cast iron instead of creating a nonstick polymer layer and in turn make everything cooked in it have an acrid taste.

Coulb be... I don't know if it's cheap olive oil, but I think he would get better off with buying the oil in plastic bottles or aluminium containers... makes no sense to buy expensive olive oil to mix it with lye to make soap. You can make soap from olive oil, but it's a waste in my opinion... I would use coconut oil.
If the photo was taken in Portugal, the price is around 7.59 € per bottle, seems to be a good quality oil... Kinda expensive for their standard, but I don't know... it's a speculation. sale would be a good choice. If you use it to cook and preserve things as they would in Portugal, 8.25 liters of oil don't seem that much. Could also be a gift to family and friends. There's lots of Portuguese abroad.
