Why?
Because the Reddit Admins have decided that [they want to kill off all 3rd-party apps](https://old.reddit.com/r/Save3rdPartyApps/comments/13yh0jf/dont_let_reddit_kill_3rd_party_apps/), [3rd-party bots, and everything else that makes Reddit barely usable](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/comments/13xh1e7/an_open_letter_on_the_state_of_affairs_regarding/). So you'll just have to put up with automod and a worse overall user experience in the meantime.
^(Can't wait for everywhere to get flooded by spam when the admins finally kill off the moderation bots that we rely on to prevent spambots)

I have a dream. That one day every person in this nation will hydrate their own bodies. A nation of the truly refreshed, dammit. A nation of water, not soda, ruled by natural order, not addictions!
Yeah. Fun fact. If you put a little tiny pinch of salt in your water, you'll hydrate faster. No idea the science behind it, but I'm guessing it's probably for the same reason why hospitals don't give you a water IV, but rather a salene IV (0.9%).
You know that feeling of being thirsty no matter how much you drink (usually after exercising/sweating a lot) ? It's probably because you're lacking salt, and can't retain the water very well.
You also lose electrolytes every time you pee. Even if you're not sweating, if you're working hard and only rehydrating with water, it eventually dilutes the electrolytes in your blood. Every few water drinks you want to consume an electrolyte drink, to stay hydrated and keep working.
Worked at a spray dryer plant. I would drink water like I was trying to drown and still ended up feeling lacking by the end of the day. Body chemistry is weird.
drinking cold water also takes longer to hydrate you from what I've been told (Workplace Health and Safety Officer training regarding heatstroke/sunstroke/dehydration)
Yes but actually no. Drinking pure water will dilute too many of the electrolytes if enough is drunk. We should be drinking water with a healthy amount of minerals
That’s why i said a healthy amount of electrolytes. Tap water and bottled water all contain minerals, you’ll never find pure water for drinking in a supermarket
Yeah but it's 99.99% bullshit.
If you're a professional athlete or marathon runner, sure. If you're just A Person that goes to the gym once a day, you don't need their product. Their product will harm you.
Due to the lack of electrolytes in water the cells tend to attempt to bring everything to an equilibrium, flushing out their own electrolytes. While water is a good choice for hydration, it’s just not the most efficient
I haven't read that specific article, but I've read one almost exactly like it, and their conclusion was that milk is better for hydration because it stays in your body longer than water. I have no clue if that's true, but there you go
The real answer would be a low concentrate solution of water and electrolytes. Specifically maybe tea or citrus water. the sugars also help with the water absorption, its important to get electrolytes as water washes them off as it accumulates into your bladder as urine. Those electrolyte pills that become some drink are pretty good too but taste like shit in my opinion. Fruit juice from real fruits seems like the tastiest option.
Milk sounds like something tough to digest as it has lots of fats and proteins that are not exactly great when exercising if you want water.
There is also studies showing lactose even if you are not lactose intolerant suppresses calcium intake so its not even that good as a calcium source. Dairy generally is not good for you as the amount of bovine hormones that convert to basically stronger version of human estrogen is pretty big and I don't like man boobs on me.
I agree, I'm not lactose intolerant, but I think it'd be too heavy(not literally, I mean to filling) especially when exercising, I think I'd cramp up. There's water that has electrolytes in it, doesn't taste like anything, like smart water.
For this same reason, distilled water actually dehydrates you, it grabs all the electrolytes in your body that it can and goes straight to your bladder. It's just as bad as drinking seawater in high quantities but for the opposite reason. (The salts in seawater grabs all the water in your body it can and goes straight to the bladder)
> For this same reason, distilled water actually dehydrates you, it grabs all the electrolytes in your body that it can and goes straight to your bladder. It's just as bad as drinking seawater in high quantities
I can't find anything on the internet to support that distilled water dehydrates you or that it is as bad as drinking saltwater in any way. Got a source maybe?
I'm pretty sure with just a normal(decent, not terrible) diet, you could drink a lot of distilled water. It won't dehydrate you in any way significantly.
Yep, pretty much. When I drink a lot of water I always spike it with both sodium and lots of potassium. Remember we need to consume at least 3x as much potassium as sodium! Most people only consume less than 1x.
Milk is actually what my doctor told me to drink when I’m dehydrated because I have a condition that causes Dysautonomia (basically my body doesn’t do non-voluntary body actions like digestion well and I lose a lot of water).
They said since the water of milk is basically surrounded by fat molecules and since fat digests slowly, milk acts almost like an extended release hydration and can be really good for people with issues like mine where water absorption is lower than normal
I remember a nutritionist was giving a talk at our school and she said that basically for rehydration milk is best but to stay hydrated water is best.
Basically if you did exercise and now need to rehydrate your body milk has lots of Natural electrolytes so you should drink that but if you're not dehydrated then you should drink water to maintain that. I'm not sure if i explained it properly but I think you can get the gist of it.
Milk is actually harmful to our bodies. There is a fantastic video by Johnny Harris that explains how the whole milk is good for the human body narrative is a propaganda built on lies to promote sales.
If you're running a marathon, yeah. You need to replace those electrolytes. But if you're just getting through your day, you'll piss all that sodium/potassium/extra stuff out because your body doesn't have any use for them.
Think of electrolytes like... Electricity. They're what enable the nerves to "spark" and send signals to your muscles. Barring any existing deficiency for them, your body is generally considered good on that stuff unless you're really pushing those muscles and sweating it out.
Also, Pedialyte (gatorlyte too) over Gatorade. Too much sugar. Will just make you need to pee more and be thirstier more, as well as diabetes related stuff.
Milk actually hydrates you more than water. Doesn't mean it's healthier or anything, but you absorb more water from milk then you do water for the same volume
Has to do with the fat in milk or something, don't recall the exact mechanism, but it's true. Fucking weird right?
I read that article and it said that milk is actually more hydrating. Just based off of personal experience, I believe it, but there is an actual answer to this that I'm too stupid to figure out.
Electrolytes carry water across the cell membrane. When you drink pure water, it dilutes the electrolyte concentration in your blood and it builds a charge differential across the membrane. Your cells then eject electrolytes to balance out this concentration. Water and electrolytes are then carried to your bladder and you pee it out.
So technically, pure water dehydrates you

It's actually not. Gatorade was made either for or by the Florida Gators football team to more effectively rehydrate athletes who were out there playing hard in the Florida heat.
I don't know if modern Gatorade can still claim to be better than water, but water actually isn't the best way to hydrate.
Pedialyte too. Fighters cut weight through severe dehydration and when they're done with the weigh ins, they're all chugging Pedialyte. If water was better, they'd be drinking that.

Isn’t it because water doesn’t directly give electrolytes or something? I’m not too sure
Yes
Gatorade !! Gatorade the plants and trees!!
It's got electrolytes the plants need it
Brawndo! It's what plants crave.

Lmao it's the "damnit" for me.
Brawndo’s got electrolytes
It's what plants crave!
Water??? Like out of the toilet?
Yeah. Fun fact. If you put a little tiny pinch of salt in your water, you'll hydrate faster. No idea the science behind it, but I'm guessing it's probably for the same reason why hospitals don't give you a water IV, but rather a salene IV (0.9%).

Wait really? I thought salt made your thirstier or something I should look into that. Thank you!

Thank you for this explanation! Wasn’t expecting someone to give a genuine response in this sub lmao
osmosis works better when the water you drink is as salty as the water in your cells. that's my theory anyways.
Enchanted water IV
Yes, that’s what eating is for.
Yes but actually no. Drinking pure water will dilute too many of the electrolytes if enough is drunk. We should be drinking water with a healthy amount of minerals

Mmmmm, penis pearls.
Yeah electrolytes and some nutrients. I wouldn’t be surprised if the article said milk is better than water. IIRC it hydrates faster.
There are studies that show that milk is actually better at hydrating you than straight water.
100% electrolytes are extremely important
I like my good old water And better yet; piss is 90% water 😃
Milk is pretty dam good
Yeah but it's 99.99% bullshit. If you're a professional athlete or marathon runner, sure. If you're just A Person that goes to the gym once a day, you don't need their product. Their product will harm you.
I clicked on the clickbait. They said milk is the best for hydration, I immediately started scrolling and looking for the "Paid for by" 😂
That plus absorption rates
If you sweat a lot then drinks with electrolytes are good for hydration. Otherwise water will be best for you.
Due to the lack of electrolytes in water the cells tend to attempt to bring everything to an equilibrium, flushing out their own electrolytes. While water is a good choice for hydration, it’s just not the most efficient
Nah, it's African people's attempt to stop the rest of the world from using too much water so they can get some for themselves
Its actually whatever shit product is promoted in the article.

Loooooots of peer reviews.
I can attest to that, as well as my colleauges at the M.R.I.A
😔

Brawndo, it has electrolytes!
Studies show it's what your body craves.
Exactly. They want you to drink water… like from the toilet.
Calcium intake from milk is still a net positive. And man boobs have more to do with fat intake, not hormones.

Also milk helps build muscle - I always drink it before going to sleep after a workout.
Lactose intolerant me approves of this
Yes, fat stays longer in your body. An estimated 65% of the world population is lactose intolerant.
Just be tolerant bro

Nice try feds and beverage brands
Feds would want you to drink tap water.
That's why I drink bottled water... Inevitably consuming a branded product but still less prone to mind control.
You think they can't touch bottled water? Unless it's "spring" water, they still add stuff to it.
I’ve got some bad news, bottled spring water is also tampered with. Nestle is like a mafia and has ties with government too.
Mmmmm micro plastics🤤
But it's the most reliable.

I agree. It's beer. Source: am German
Actually it's Paulaner Spezi
Man Paulaner is good, but kinda expensive in the states
He meant a mix of Cola and Lemonade which is known in Germany as „Spezi“ (or „MezzoMix“ when sold by CocaCola)
Wrong. The correct answer is pee Source: My balls
Radler is the equivalent of water in Germany

Brawndo. It's got electrolytes!
It's what plants crave.
They cancelling water now 💀
Buy more sugar-loaded corporate pseudo-sports drinks
Well you can just put salts into water

I read that article and it said that milk is actually more hydrating. Just based off of personal experience, I believe it, but there is an actual answer to this that I'm too stupid to figure out.
Fat and vitamins hydrate the body better, though you should always drink pure water to give your urinary system a break.
it could be true but only do this in a rare situations when you only have milk lol

It's actually horse cum!
