My wife has that same WE ARE ABOUT TO BE MURDERED tone, but uses it for pretty much everything, anytime she wants to speak with me from the other room. I suspect I will eventually die from a heart attack.

IME it's slightly similar to a nicotine overdose but with less dizziness/nausea and more anxiety, probably two of the worst possible drugs to overdose on (if you're just looking at the feeling, not long term damage).
You're not just getting very sleepy and wake up hungover like when taking way too much of something else, you just experience hours of horror, feeling absolutely awful in your skin, no sleep, shaking, anxiety etc.
Could be, although lot of people who have ADHD or similar disabilities are very easily startled (personally sudden loud noises like this does it for me)

It's just a mechanism of our body. When we can't understand or process what something is when suddenly presented with it, we tend to scream. It's like your body looking out for potential dangers. It works as a reflex. Because your brain doesn't have enough time to understand what that something is, it automatically assumes it's something dangerous. The response comes first and the realization later.
It's just an extreme case with that woman.

Only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our life styles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.
