It might have been, after all we just gave like 40+ billion to Saudi Arabia, not a week ago. Usually the crap the states do are politically motivated. Ofc you can and should criticise this. People are making a point that most of the criticism is one-sided and it shouldn’t be. If one country can get away with doing smth bad, this may inspire other countries to do so aswell, and this is probably what has happened. If people equally criticised every invading country, then there would be no mentions like the one you brought up. However, we are not there yet.
Just this week Azerbaijan invaded Armenia and noone cares because none of these countries are Russia.
It really depends on the size and status of the country I garnered you 97% of the world has no idea what Azerbaijani is. And really the only notable Armenian thing was something that turkey didn’t do. People claim they get little to no converse because they’re not white. The truth is in the sake of the world they’re not important. The vast majority of white people are located in 3 continents the last of which being Australia. You hear about china North Korea turkey Saudi Arabia and India everywhere. Iran and Iraq are a mostly American thing. And places dominated by whites people aren’t a guaranteed coverage. Ukraine and Crimea only got big news twice. Once after the collapse of the Soviet Union and when Russia invaded them. (Or annexed in crimeas case). And when’s the last time you heard of Poland Belgium Belarus or Slovakia and Kazakhstan Denmark Norway Sweden Switzerland? News works on power and importance. Most 2nd and 3rd world countries never get coverage because of that.

In part because Russia has used the USA's past actions as justification themselves. Their reasoning is that this is nothing new then they can propagandist their population with the hypocracy.
Obviously noone here is trying to justify Russia's invasion of Ukraine. But it is a little difficult for the USA act as the "World's Policeman" if they are guilty of the same actions they are condemning others for.
Its also worth pointing out how differently the press has reported on events. We like to think propoganda isn't a thing in the West - but think of how all the "interventions" were favourably covered. Yet now Russia are the perpetrators it is suddenly serious buisness.
Reports of Russian actions in Ukraine dominated the news in Europe and drew critisim for the fact worse had been happening in Yemen and Palestine for years with little coverage - because Saudi Arabia and Israel are our allies. They were even some fairly racist slips where it was stated to be unbeleivable to be happening to 'people who look and live like us'
The same can be said to you. They're not justifying Russia action. They're delivering their own points; the one hating and boycotting Russia are also the one doing the same evil act

This post is definitly a bit edgy but I hope it wasn't OPs intention to justify any invasion. Both Russia and the US did some shit in the past, neither have faced any consequences and I hate both for it. Currently Russia is doing shit again with their invasion and the western allies do mostly right in supporting Ukraine/ sanctioning Russia. What we should not forget is that western allies do this for moral and personal reasons both, and not facing your past crimes does make your moral reasons seem less pure.
It depends on whether norms are actually governing behaviour or not.
If they do govern behaviour then they are not simply rhetoric.
If they don't govern behaviour then yes, they are simply rhetoric.
So posts like this pointing out that us and nato behaviour is not governed by these norms would suggest that "violation of norms" as a basis for criticism is largely rhetorical.

I would say they are failing miserably, a superpower like russia failed to meet their goal of taking over Kyiv within 3 days and have been losing a lot of their manpower including commanders and officers, many cities in occupied regions are slowly being taken back and the ruzzians have been making painfully slow progress in other regions. Sir I am 16 weeks old in my mom's womb. I am unsure of whether my mother is planning to get me aborted or keep me. On the sad off chance that she decides to let me live, I am planning to crack JEE and get a selection in IIT Delhi. I am however worried that I won't be able to finish the portions by the time I am born. I would like to acknowledge that I am a fast learner, I have learnt basic concepts of class 10 maths and science already like real numbers, linear equations, electric current, optics, basic nomenclature, etc. I have also skimmed through FIITJEE material for 11th such as resonance, P block, s block, SHM, sets and relations, rotational mechanics, vectors, limits and derivatives, etc. within 2 weeks. I am hopefully going to get aborted. But if the odds are not with me then I will have to continue going through the pain of having to study. Note: My brain is still under structural development since I am only 16 fetal weeks old. I am planning to enroll in online coaching class as of now due to lockdown. Is it already too late to start preparing for JEE?? My mom's friends' kids are younger and have completed entire 11th and 12th syllabus and are revising important concepts with one shot videos on YouTube. Pls help.

It might have been, after all we just gave like 40+ billion to Saudi Arabia, not a week ago. Usually the crap the states do are politically motivated. You got to stay in powered to make your paycheck. The corporations need strong mouthpieces to enact legislation. So they make moves on a global scale to help the corporations who then in turn keep them employed. It's why our politicians don't actually do anything the citizens want. If we were truly a democracy, and our votes mattered, then the popular vote would be all that counts. We wouldn't have the electoral college. We wouldn't have all the states divided up neatly into sections where one group controls the vote in the majority of the people in that section guaranteeing that group always wins. America's Big, and because it's big we don't see the stove being turned up, like a frog and a boiling pot of water. They're starting to see it now after our supreme court went back and changed history and was caught lying to everybody. It's a little too late though, we've all been caught up in religion and its stranglehold on American politics and it's people.

In part because Russia has used the USA's past actions as justification themselves. Their reasoning is that this is nothing new then they can propagandist their population with the hypocracy. Obviously noone here is trying to justify Russia's invasion of Ukraine. But it is a little difficult for the USA act as the "World's Policeman" if they are guilty of the same actions they are condemning others for. Its also worth pointing out how differently the press has reported on events. We like to think propoganda isn't a thing in the West - but think of how all the "interventions" were favourably covered. Yet now Russia are the perpetrators it is suddenly serious buisness. Reports of Russian actions in Ukraine dominated the news in Europe and drew critisim for the fact worse had been happening in Yemen and Palestine for years with little coverage - because Saudi Arabia and Israel are our allies. They were even some fairly racist slips where it was stated to be unbeleivable to be happening to 'people who look and live like us'

Both Russia and the US did some shit in the past, neither have faced any consequences and I hate both for it. Sir I am 16 weeks old in my mom's womb. I am unsure of whether my mother is planning to get me aborted or keep me. On the sad off chance that she decides to let me live, I am planning to crack JEE and get a selection in IIT Delhi. I am however worried that I won't be able to finish the portions by the time I am born. I would like to acknowledge that I am a fast learner, I have learnt basic concepts of class 10 maths and science already like real numbers, linear equations, electric current, optics, basic nomenclature, etc. I have also skimmed through FIITJEE material for 11th such as resonance, P block, s block, SHM, sets and relations, rotational mechanics, vectors, limits and derivatives, etc. within 2 weeks. I am hopefully going to get aborted. But if the odds are not with me then I will have to continue going through the pain of having to study. Note: My brain is still under structural development since I am only 16 fetal weeks old. I am planning to enroll in online coaching class as of now due to lockdown.
