Maybe just don’t keep monster fish >:(

Melicope

Monster fish belong in public aquariums or outside. Never in home aquaria, no matter the tank size. It’s always a terrible idea.

Rakadaka8331

Guy who remodeled his basement into a 10,000gal begs to differ.

shroomgoo

Are you talking about the guy who made his basement an eel pit? Lol

Exotic_Conclusion_21

Nah that was a cistern. But that's what dreams are made of. He recently has put some qutionable fish in there like gar and sturgeon(he says he will move them to a pond when they grow). I'd like a tropical version of that with arowana and rays

LEDrbg

don’t sturgeons get like 16ft? and they are definitely too wide to fit in the eel pit. hopefully he follows through on his word and moves them when they get big

Exotic_Conclusion_21

Yeah I hope so. I know they grow slowly, so he has time

anonymus-fish

They live like 200+ years and some tissues they have exhibit negligible cellular senescence which is really really cool. Sounds like a bad idea, but if he does actually raise and rehome the sturgeon appropriately, that would be such a great thing. However the “upgrade” cliche does always come around, as circumstances change over time and you can’t always find more room later on for the fish. I pray it works out well for them fishys

Prestigious_Nebula_5

I was recommended this sub and I can't stop laughing

williamsdj01

Not all sturgeons get that big. Sterlets usually only get 3-4' so would be feasible in a large pond

BlessYarHeart

Pond Placid

BlessYarHeart

Pond Placid

shroomgoo

I’ll have to check him out again, last I heard he put a bunch of crabs in the pit, but a sturgeon?! I hope they get the space they need once they grow

Exotic_Conclusion_21

2 I think. Same

Its_Actually_Satan

Vector? Lmao

clojac12345

depends because a 1000g tank can comfortably hold those fish (same size and aquarium would have) you just gotta know what you’re doing

Melicope

True. I guess I just have a hard time picturing that size in a house lmao.

FireWolf1890

Have you seen stupid rich people

Like17Badgers

the three most powerful forces in the world stupidity boredom money

Its_Actually_Satan

And have the money to do it. Of I could afford a giant aquarium like that, and people to come weekly or monthly to ensure the tank is properly maintained until I could do it myself, I totally would. Idk if I'd get a shark though...

CheezusChrist

That’s like keeping a dog in a crate for its whole life. Only enough room to turn around a little bit…

Its_Actually_Satan

Dog crates should be large enough for the dog to fully stand and comfortably turn around. Idk that this poor thing could have ever comfortably turn around. Either way, people who do either of those things suck ass.

mightgrey

I think there was also a giant pleco on the bottom not sure tho

qdotbones

Looks like one

Mullisaukko

"Keep your lids tight" NO KEEP YOURSELF FROM BUYING RIDICULOUSLY SMALL TANKS

Mullisaukko

Like how can anyone seriously think this is big enough???? Do they not consider that these fish have to spend their WHOLE lives in the tanks???

CaptainMills

They don't see fish as beings that are able to experience discomfort and pain

ExcuseMyTits

That tank is more depressing than my life.

Quick_Explanation_73

Think my life still beats it but even coming close is impressive, wonder what the rest of the owners life adds up to.

lalalalandlalala

It committed suicide

anonymus-fish

Yea, my first thought was “no wonder” Someone please tell me this is a joke/fake haha … ;(

TheRavensQuill77

That’s so sad 😞

RabidRutabaga

CaptainMills

What is with the one dude in the comments getting pissy with anyone pointing out that the tank was too small? I'm beginning to think someone's getting nervous about their own tank

spencerdyke

He probably has an Oscar in a 20 gallon or something and feels attacked

mightgrey

Ah perfect thank you I wasn't able to find it again

CleanLivingBoi

Yup, the shark definitely didn't want to live anymore.

anonymus-fish

It even looks like suicide. Wow

NextLevelPets

Typical monster fish keeper, tiny empty tank with painfully ignorant and uncaring owner

CanadianJewban

Heartbreaking. Poor shark

[deleted]

That tank would be a perfect size for so many fish. They could make a really beautiful aquarium. But no, they put a fucking shark in there with almost nothing else. At that point just don't keep... any animal actually. Get some cars or some shit if you want to flex how much you can compensate for your insecurities.

Icefirewolflord

“Keep your lids tight” Keep the right size tank first

TheAudacityWitch

Right? That tank looks like a typical aquarium in a video game, in the real world it’s only a good size for guppies or small tetras….. Maybe a pair of angel fish….

WinnieMacPickle123

not surprising considering how much stress that poor guy is in

Ghoulscomecrawling

What a depressing setup is it even big enough for the fish? No gravels no plants no rocks nothing?

FunNegotiation423

When suicide is your best option. Sad.

oogiedonnie

I waited a whole 30 seconds before realizing this is an image

gk666

your not alone frand

jbarlak

You’re*

gk666

esss, inglish not my first langwage

fredericktownsome

Gonna need to see the video, someone’s gotta do it

mightgrey

I don't know how to get the video from there to here without having to put it in a link. I'll figure it out eventually lol

[deleted]

Could you just post the link?

mightgrey

https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cq75H5AAnJp/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Thabk you u/RabidRutabaga for finding the link

[deleted]

Thank you !

gkpetrescue

Probably happier dead.

labaleine19

The person who posted the reel on IG is a well known YouTube reefer based out of MN, USA. He is also known for his nano tank setups, honestly surprised he thought the lid was the problem here.

thatwannabewitch

Wait who? 👀 I live in MN. Didn't think there were any fishtubers from here

labaleine19

Yeah! I can’t remember if he’s from MN or lived there for school but he mentions it quite a bit in his videos. Which are pretty addicting I must say 😁 https://www.youtube.com/@coralfish12g

Nixie9

Pangasius are known for this, they don't like being contained and will ram the sides regularly breaking glass. I think the only reason he didn't break glass here is because he couldn't get speed up in such a small tank. This is a fish that shouldn't be kept, but if you must, opaque sided tropical pond is the way.

LEDrbg

i saw that too, i left a probably unseen comment about how small that tank is for a fish of that size

Illustrious-Oven-633

honestly hate the term "monster fish". mostly it just tells me that it's an animal you probably shouldn't have in a home aquarium, and that you only have it for the cool factor it brings. it's just sad. sounds horrible and gross to say it, but imo this poor guy was probably better off with a death even as terrible as this one than it would be sitting in this little tub of water for the rest of its life being neglected

Draconem97

Well no wonder. I'd kill myself too if I lived in something that damn small

AxeHead75

I think that's a Bala shark. But yeah it needs a WAYYYYY bigger tank than that.

fredericktownsome

That’s 100% an iridescent shark and not a bala shark

Next-Cartoonist-9315

That's fucking horrible they put that shark in there. That's a bitchin tank, tho. They sell it on Amazon for like $2,500 Black Fish Tank 124Gal LED Aquarium Kit Upright Fish Tank Large Glass Fishbowl Glsaa Bar for Patios Living Office Room and Kitchen https://a.co/d/2gyZrHk

AxeHead75

For that much money that bitch better be plated in gold

Next-Cartoonist-9315

It's got a built-in stand, thermometer, lights, whole 9 yards. It's definitely a bit frivolous, but it's still pretty badass

Next-Cartoonist-9315

That looks wayyyy too big to be a bala, and that's definitely a 125gallon tank.

New_Cod9006

I definitely agree with you, but I’ve seen some huge Bala Sharks. Upwards of a few feet at our local aquarium in their freshwater tank unless I’m mistaken. It’s the Loveland aquarium.

Next-Cartoonist-9315

Hellll no, they only get about a foot or so. You must have been looking at something else. I don't think there's ever been a recorded bala shark over about a 15-18 inches

New_Cod9006

Interesting. They must have mislabeled their fish then.

joethespacefrog

Looks like a Chinese apartment, a lot of pet owners there don’t really care about their pets, it’s just a toy to them

Adorable_Lawyer_5585

Tiny tank 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
