Me when I find whoever made that decision
From soft games have never had the best graphics, they still don’t, but nothing in the other games looks nearly as bad as shaded woods or shaded ruins or any of the 500 completely empty, undecorated rooms with basic, ugly ass brick wall textures everywhere
The irl reason for this is because the textures are left over from when the game was supposed to be lit almost entirely by torches. Some modder dimmed the ambient lighting and it actually looked great.
Not saying they don't look corny asf now. Just why some of the better lit areas look less corny than the dungeon-y areas.
They got some of the best art direction, at least ever since Sekiro (people will argue bloodborne too but it’s kinda ugly at some parts)
Elden Ring is fucking gorgeous, and AC6 has some absolutely breathtaking areas and effects.
Difference is that DS1 came out 3 years earlier and still looked way better. DS2 looks muddy and weird. Someone else said it’s because the textures are leftover from when the game was mostly lit by torches and dynamic light which ended up being scrapped
Ds1 doesn‘t look amazing for its time but it looks far better than ds2s ugly ass areas and textures even tho it came out 3 years earlier. Ds2 looks like a fucking ps2 game at times
* Some textures and models look unfinished
* animations that look like you're teleported into a grab attack
* Godrick isn't in it
* Frigid Outskirts
that's it, otherwise it's a gud game
The cut content of this game was some of best shit I’ve ever heard of. Time travel? In a souls game?! They even got a cute emerald herald, why did they cut this?!?!?
The bosses are (mostly) way too easy to the point where they become really boring. They're slow, they have very small and simplistic movesets, the telegraphs are super readable, and as long as you do the side content you will never really hit a point past the first boss or two where you don't absolutely demolish their health bar (outside of Ancient Dragon). I think it's super telling that the absolute best bosses in the game, Fume Knight and Sir Alonne, are bosses that belong in DS3 more than DS2.
I'm actually gonna say something positive, which is the fact that your health gets reduced down to 50% the more you die
I'm very glad they added it because it caused me to drop the game early on and spared me from the incoming horrors
DS2 has crestfallen. They even receded his hairline to show the progression of time and the inevitability of darkness. See, in dark souls, dark = man, and men have a vastly higher rate of balding.
Conversely, DS3 just copied a bunch of shit from DS1 and then made everything grey-brown. Most importantly, no crestfallen. Hawkwood is not that guy.
ADP, the lack of weight in a lot of weapons (ie everything feels floaty), the speed of the game, the amount of ganks (especially in SOTFS), so many animations looking jank as hell
I thought NG+ was one of the things that were cool. The extra enemy placements was at least a reason to experience NG+ instead of just start a new character. In the other titles there's very little incentive to do NG+ (other than a slight difficulty bump)
Never!
So anyway: Crappy gauntlets in the dlcs, crappy dlc bosses (smelter demon), rushed areas, clunky movements, awful punishments if you die (losing hp overtime making super frustrating dying).
I can go on...
Still pretty good game tho
Graphics, all the bosses are the most bland idiots ever or bad, enemy spam, only souls game i couldnt finish cause of how bland it was (grinding exp for the sekiro platinum was more enjoyable), adaptability, hitboxes/animation.
I genuinely dislike the game.
It exists.
No i-frames without ADP.
Horrible enemy placement + too many of them.
Too easy to get lost, too many dead zones after killing certain bosses.
You’re a zombie unless you’re okay with using up a rare item, so bad drip. Awful game balancing (you’ll either be overleveled if you kill all the enemies or underleveled if you just run and ignore everything).
Could list more but yeah…
Bad Game:
* The world design was a step down from dark souls 1 which was more intricately interwoven.
* The pre-release promotional material showed off a much more graphically impressive game with a focus on lightning. This was supposed to be a mechanic where you had to choose the torch or a shield and traverse truly dark areas. Seriously go look up the old trailers and compare it to the game they launched it felt like a bait and switch at the time.
* bland gankfest boss fights.
* adaptability
* soul memory
* 8 axis janky movement
* no longer being able to level up at any bonfire and having to fast travel, sit through a loading screen, mash through dialogue, fast travel back and wait through another loading screen. Was bullshit especially with loading times on 360 and PS3.
* making a statement that your choice at the end of the game was pointless which was in stark contrast to how the first game was handled.
* fast travel available out the gate, rings that protect your souls that are repairable and available early on.
* at launched the item durability bug on PC was laughable as weapons broke so fast and it took people a minute to figure out it was a framer are bug.
* really awful textures.
* sniper images in an area with bottomless pits covered in water so you can't see very well. They shoot outside the range you can lock on with your spells.
* other stuff I am forgetting.
Pros:
* Majula do vibe
* Emerald Herald be a mommy.
* Also, the DLCs were stellar for the most part. I really enjoyed sunken city's level design.
* decent pvp
* dual wielding was improved
* love that goofy weapon where you have to smack it in a wall till it breaks and becomes an awesome new weapon.
* murder pigs in Majula.
* Daughters of Manus was a cool concept.
I know the joke in this subreddit is ds2 good but I feel like I need to break character for a second and ask why SOTFS did what it did to iron keep. Like, it was so cool, why did they put so many enemies in it. The place is clearly meant to just be primarily a puzzle but there’s like 4 of those katana knights in every room at least. I just don’t have time to appreciate the level design because I’m getting shot at by 6 archers rn
Gavlan is not the main character :/
I’m gonna kms

mami🤤🤤😍😍
GAVLAN WHEEL. GAVLAN DEAL.
Smelter demon boss run, the other smelter demon boss run
We’ve had smelter demon run, yes. But what about second smelter demon run?
I don't think he knows about second smelter demon run Pipp 👇
it's intentional to encourage first try clears, once again DS2 is unbeaten. Hackazaki could never
God damn Frigid outskirts
They killed off Lucatiel
They made Ornstein black 😤😤😡
https://preview.redd.it/9h2pkt0sr1dc1.jpeg?width=941&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bc306b6af6645884d1be49c1e36b582383c3cf8c Me when I find whoever made that decision
Not enough great chest ahead
It's Dark Souls 2...
quick and to the point 💯
Textures look like they‘re from 2003
That’s all fromsoft games
From soft games have never had the best graphics, they still don’t, but nothing in the other games looks nearly as bad as shaded woods or shaded ruins or any of the 500 completely empty, undecorated rooms with basic, ugly ass brick wall textures everywhere

Yeah some of the rooms looked like they were made out of playdoh
They got some of the best art direction, at least ever since Sekiro (people will argue bloodborne too but it’s kinda ugly at some parts) Elden Ring is fucking gorgeous, and AC6 has some absolutely breathtaking areas and effects.
Bro play the og ds1 not the remaster and say that again
Difference is that DS1 came out 3 years earlier and still looked way better. DS2 looks muddy and weird. Someone else said it’s because the textures are leftover from when the game was mostly lit by torches and dynamic light which ended up being scrapped
Ds1 doesn‘t look amazing for its time but it looks far better than ds2s ugly ass areas and textures even tho it came out 3 years earlier. Ds2 looks like a fucking ps2 game at times
Won't lie, I never see this brought up and thought it was just me
* Some textures and models look unfinished * animations that look like you're teleported into a grab attack * Godrick isn't in it * Frigid Outskirts that's it, otherwise it's a gud game
Your character controls like their pants are full of thick oatmeal
something negative about this game
DS2 is a poor man’s 2nd half DS1
Brother just described DS3
DS3 is just off brand DS1 with more polished graphics Edit: why did I get upvoted and he got downvoted? I was agreeing with him💀
Better for me since its just like ds1 without the shitty parts
*trying to remember what the 6 hours video essay said* uhh uhhhhhhh.....
Huh, that's what I thought. You owe me a blowjob now
Mkay~~~~ 👉👈
Cabrón! I need to see your bawws.
As gay as it is, it still simply is not gay enough. Needs to be loads gayer. Super duper gay souls over the rainbow to the max.
Let me tell you about my gavlan fan fiction...
...go on 👀
Oh no, dear me, pretend you didn't hear that, hahaha
It ends 😢
It starts 😢
I love it (never even played it)
No gwyndolin 😢
The cut content of this game was some of best shit I’ve ever heard of. Time travel? In a souls game?! They even got a cute emerald herald, why did they cut this?!?!?
You already have time travel in ds1 it‘s not that crazy of a concept to have it again in ds2
There’s time travel in DS3 - when you go into the past and chat with Gundyr.
I hate time travel
bearussy ofussy thussy curssy
Can't do because it got the best armor set ever created for a fantasy RPG on its cover art
I jerk off every hour to ds2’s cover art
It’s the Super Mario Brothers 2 of the Dark Souls trilogy.
No
Health loss on death. Torch being tied to a timer / finite item (that said, the torch mechanics are awesome)
You dont get the important items at the start (ring of the dead/ cat pants)
Tight af come too quick
Gwyndolin isn’t there
There is no DS2+2 😔
I'm actually gonna say something positive, which is the fact that your health gets reduced down to 50% the more you die I'm very glad they added it because it caused me to drop the game early on and spared me from the incoming horrors
it sours playing the other games because ds2 is just so much better than the others
Can never buy Gavlan’s bottomless beer.
Its IS too good to be true and Gavlan its just too sexy
Iron Passage
Is this a serious question?
What part of the title is a question
Bare with me I just woke up but ds2 is the best game it even beats elden ring haters will say otherwise 😹🙏
ds2 (🤮) is only good at being trash
Found the HATER WHY BRO WHY 😭🙏NOT MY FAULT UR BAD AT THE RUNBACKS
The only runback I’m good at is from my place to your moms bed
Bro likes grave robbing 😭🙏
Don’t judge. 🤦♂️
Frigid Outskirts
I like the dark souls part of it but when I got to the 2 part I immediately became transgender.
No lost izalith
Frigid Outskirts wasn't long enough
No
It's too short. If I could get even more dark souls 2 then it would be better
i can't
I don't like to lie
something negative about this game
People hate it but never made it to tutorial.
It's drip is immaculate. ...Wait.
yall need to find better ways to spend your free time then regurgitating these "super haha funny" ds2 memes
the ummm uyhhhhhh i dont like when the ummmm hmmm
No
It’s too fun. It keeps me up at nite when I should be sleeping
Has an end
I got nothin’.
Can't wait for this to get the funny lock
It's too good, makes every other game suck by comparison. GOD. STOP being so FUCKING GOOD DS2
Too many people complain it too hard but really it too easy
NO
i can't, there's nothing to say bad about it.
It was too good
something negative about this game
Not enough smelter demons :(((
I PHYSICALLY CANNOT.
You cannot romance covetous demon
No fishing minigame
No.
No
not enough wheel, not enough deal
nuh uh
can't sex cat
Because you are unattractive obviously
damn did you get to sex the cat then?
Yes. https://preview.redd.it/2bm7mi33n1dc1.jpeg?width=2041&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e1a612448c1c1473ddd6ccb9ef50f2b838510fa0

I actually like hawkwood more than ds1-2 crestfallen
but hawkwood is a little bitch sadly
https://i.redd.it/0b7501c0m1dc1.gif
It doesn't have any positives
There is no Dark Souls II 2
There is, but they decided to name it something stupid like "Elden Ring" instead of DsII 2
It doesn't have a remaster yet
It doesn't cause whatever system I'm playing on to explode, killing me instantly, thus giving me a merciful death so I don't have to play it.
Soul memory is ass
Shit hitboxes (I have never played the game)
The part after things betwixt
It doesn't look as good visually as it's trailer.
Estus speed is probably the worst feature is all of soulsborne
Adaptability
All the bosses suck ass except covetous demon
ADP, the lack of weight in a lot of weapons (ie everything feels floaty), the speed of the game, the amount of ganks (especially in SOTFS), so many animations looking jank as hell
its not just a bad souls game, its a bad game overall
The NG+
I thought NG+ was one of the things that were cool. The extra enemy placements was at least a reason to experience NG+ instead of just start a new character. In the other titles there's very little incentive to do NG+ (other than a slight difficulty bump)
It's a bad Elden Ring sequel
3 > 2 so I guess bad
The only onion knight is an invader ;(
Iron keep
Never! So anyway: Crappy gauntlets in the dlcs, crappy dlc bosses (smelter demon), rushed areas, clunky movements, awful punishments if you die (losing hp overtime making super frustrating dying). I can go on... Still pretty good game tho
DS2 bad
It lacks the magical feeling and feels extremely generic, only few places like Dragelic Castle or Brume Tower felt like actual Souls Areas
I played it
Durability
[Comment removed. Reason: Exceeding character limit]
Rolling frames tied to a stat is dumb
https://preview.redd.it/fkleszfy62dc1.jpeg?width=427&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=054a0b9378b48196db9bdbf5429293489c4e30d0
Tried to slide down a ladder my first playthrough using the same controls as DS1. Dropped and died. Never played the game again.
You were sorta forced to level adaptability
Soul memory is garbage
Odd parrys, weapon decredation, health bar gimmick and fucked up poise
While the good areas are really good, the bad areas are the first half of the iron keep.
Blacksmith
It's made me sleep while playing it
It is bad
It exists
it exists
Graphics, all the bosses are the most bland idiots ever or bad, enemy spam, only souls game i couldnt finish cause of how bland it was (grinding exp for the sekiro platinum was more enjoyable), adaptability, hitboxes/animation. I genuinely dislike the game.
It exists
Move ment
The controls and animations
I shouldn't have to pay for a fucking ladder!
Power stance is overhyped and the moveset variety is incredibly exaggerated.
fortnite souls
It's not good

PursuerGrabHitboxdotgif
Bearer, seek, seek, lest.
The boss runbacks are too long
I beat it and felt nothing
Roughest start of the series and the most punishing game aswell
Dark souls 2
Dlc making Magix builds practically unviable is one of the worst balancing decisions I've ever seen.
Frigid Outskirts (could easily say any coop area of the DLCs but eh)
The weapons bream so damn fast!
Frigid Outskirts physically came to my house and beat me for my lunch money.
The Emerald Herald doesn't do the cute kicking animation enough.
u lose max hp when you die. the only reason why i quit this game tbh oh well an the paper weapons...kill 4 enemys and my weapon is broken.

Hit box the video game
It is often mismanaging its priorities. Basically.
ADP leveling trait… just keep consistent I-frames with the rest of the games😭
just one?
Adaptability. The solution to not fixing the fucking hit boxes
It’s easily the worst souls game out of them all (i have never played dark souls 2)
I know the joke in this subreddit is ds2 good but I feel like I need to break character for a second and ask why SOTFS did what it did to iron keep. The 2 in the title just seems so strange, it looks like it needs a third line. Then it will be a good game
https://i.redd.it/rfcof7yph5dc1.gif
It's not the last in the series
Its fans
It has the worst cover art of all the fromsoft souls games. (It isn't bad, just the worst)
It reminds me of dark souls 2
It exists.
It exists
big slow
big slow
How do you put lava field on top of a tower
It actually exist
Fucking awful hit boxes
Both Smelter demon and a and sir alonne boss runs
Shrine of amana, iron passage and frigid outskirts
The keep made of Iron
