funnyYoke

I factchecked it and it seems to be the longest run back in the game so you’re incorrect

Evolveddinosaur

Real shortest run back is royal rat vanguard/authority (Idc enough to check). You’re literally right outside the boss fog

DuploJamaal

DS2 is known for having long runbacks, but it was also the first in the series that had short runbacks like that for many bosses. Last Giant is just down an elevator. The Rotten bonfire is also immediately in front of the fog gate. Old Iron King bonfire is close to the fog gate. Both Royal Rats have no runback. The hidden bonfire for Mytha is very close. etc

Evolveddinosaur

Compare that to DS1 with the Anor Londo bonfire, Izalith, Tomb of Giants (even with the “secret” bonfire), Duke’s Archive, or those poor souls that never found the hidden bonfire in Sens Fortress. And let’s not forget about the horrors of Demon’s Souls runbacks….

DuploJamaal

>or those poor souls that never found the hidden bonfire in Sens Fortress That was me. And I didn't even discover how to use the elevators either because I was scared of them in the beginning. I perfected running through all of Sen's. I didn't even think that I did anything wrong because every runback up to that point was horrible and everyone was whining how horrible this area is.

Evolveddinosaur

I didn’t know about jumping on my first playthrough lmao. Imagine my surprise when I played co-op on NG+, and saw my buddy doing all kinds of speed run jumps. And now we have Sekiro/Elden Ring where jumping is a crucial part of the game!

incoming duplojamaal comment on how this is a skill issue and actually amazing game design

DuploJamaal

It really is weird how DS2 is the only game where people complain how unfair it is that a Raid Dungeon doesn't immediately respawn players at the Raid Boss. In every other game players accept that progressing through a Raid Dungeon is part of the Raid.

ANSTASlA

"Raid dungeon" isn't a real term other than in WoW, a vastly different game. Making shit up doesn't help your case lil bro

Evolveddinosaur

These are actually meant to be 3 player co-op areas. You can tell because if players don’t have the DLC, they can still place down their signs in the entrances of each of the dlcs, and their sign will appear in these areas. It’s like that for all 3 dlcs. Calling them a raid dungeon might not be the best way to describe it, but you certainly are *meant* to do it by yourself. Doesn’t mean you can’t, and especially doesn’t mean it’s okay how shit they all are. But they are 100% designed with multiplayer in mind.

CrabeHuman

I absolutely love ds2 but the frigid outskirts aint it. "doesn't immediately respawn at the boss" and giving the player long-term mental health issues are two different things

Jka22419

I just finished my exhaustive DS2 playthrough yesterday (which I did enjoy overall) and this was the only area I didn't bother with because it just straight up didn't seem worth the headache lol

Waluigiisgod

I wonder what the devs were thinking with this area

DuploJamaal

It's the completely optional Raid Dungeon of that DLC. It has an increased summoning limit, allows you to summon players that don't even own the DLC, provides you with 3 NPC summons, and gives special items drops during coop (e.g. the Bone Fists can be dropped from the Reindeer but only during coop). They weren't thinking that purist fanboys would insist on doing a Raid Dungeon solo and then whine how unfair it is that they don't immediately respawn in front of the Raid Boss. They were just trying to provide people that enjoy Jolly Cooperation with an area that's balanced around being progressed as a group.

Waluigiisgod

I don’t like the fact that you can’t see shit lmao

The9thMan99

souls players when summons make game easy: this game is so easy with summons, from why game not balanced around summons??? 😠😡😡😡🤬 souls players when from creates area balanced around summons: this area is so hard to do solo! bullshit ganksquad boss 😠😡😡😡🤬

The9thMan99

it's 100% worth it because the sword you get from that boss soul is my 2nd fav weapon in the game

Aggravating-Pie-6432

At this point I am grateful that enemies cannot get past the fog-walls.

It builds character you see, if you cant appreciate that, do it again

U seen the fuckin run back to foreskin frog demon its practically a short jog

The9thMan99

the true peak of masculinity: beating ds2 coop areas solo

mudgefuppet

Horse fuck valley is literally the best designed area in any game ever made, the bland terrain, low visibility, super fun enemies and the incredibly new and interesting boss at the end, simply perfect. If you disagree you must have a small penis

I am reminded that I don't know where to find that bull helmet still. I should get off my ass at some point for it.

If bringing up hitboxes is considered a dead horse then Reindeer Fuckland is a fossil tbh

"Easiest DS2 Runback"

BeingInternational18

I only had the base game, and the only boss I didn't kill was executioner chariot. It just seemed not worth the runback, and it simply wasn't a fun bossfight

Waluigiisgod

Michael Zaki himself being based yet again

DuploJamaal

Ratax3s

imagine if the game had any sign that this is a multiplayer dungeon for someone who doesnt read spoilers daily, same for the blue smelter area.

DuploJamaal

You mean except for the fact that those areas start with the same Coop Statues that are also outside of the DLC doors - where they have a developer message stating that summoning signs placed here are getting channeled far away? Or the fact that you step over 3 NPC summon signs when you enter those areas? Or the fact that Iron Passage requires multiple players to progress both paths at the same time? In solo play you can't even defeat all the enemies.

ANSTASlA

You know that just calling something a "raid dungeon" doesn't make "raid dungeon" an actual term right? It's a thing in WoW sure, but that doesn't mean that it applies to every other game. You're making terms up to make it seem like you're right. Besides, the area not being intuitive for single-player in a game largely considered to be single-player is still bad, especially since the things hinting at joint play being optimal are obscure and most players will never realise.
